For avi you may specify a large range of compression codecs. If you are converting for an iPhone, iPad, iPod or PSP, select the appropriate mp4 setting. You also have the option of extracting audio from video by converting to either the wav or mp3 file formats. I have never tried that - the above is the Prism help file.

Answer:	Yes it can operate stand alone

Answer:	Yes and No. The Video Capture Box has analog inputs to capture videos from tape and other analog sources and then is stored on the SD card. From there you can transfer the digital image to a DVD by putting the SD card into a computer and converting it to DVD format.
Question:	Does it record long play times, ie 3-4hr game walkthroughs
Answer:	Its on the front, the button is multifunctional depending on the mode you are in. It works well, I've been using it to digitize old vhs tapes and it seem to work very well. Auto stop/power off function is a little finicky but once you know how to use it it works as ot should.
Question:	Does this come with an AV input cord
Answer:	Yes and no. If the video is already recorded you won't be able to dub over the audio because the video and audio record at the same time. There are separate inputs for analog audio and video, so if you connect your audio device to the analog audio input you'll be able to record new audio. You can get an audio Y connector and possibly a volume control to mix the audio that's already on the video with another audio source. There are similar workarounds for HDMI.

Answer:	Yes. Have used with Windows10 and Windows XP.
Question:	What other equipment do i need to transfer vcr to dvd using this product
Answer:	you need a video capture device( some is just for mac or windows, some are for both and very few is for linux) i have a "ION Video 2 PC MKII" i had no issues with it. oh and a computer, a vcr and a dvd burner(if you want it on a dvd and no just digital video format)
Question:	Could a vhs camcorder be used in place of a vcr player
Answer:	as long as you can make the connection to your computer it should work. It is a player and that is what's needed.
