Answer: I have mine under the counter in my game room but I don’t see why it can’t be used on your back porch as long as it’s not in direct sunlight. Ice machines are not freezers. They do not keep the ice cold. Ice forms as the older ice melts. A sensor picks up the amount of ice in container and make more as it melts or is used. Keep it in a shady area and you will be very happy
