Answer:	Thw furst unit that we bought from Amazon had this problem. I could not fix it, and I received zero customer service from Brinsea. I sent it back to Amazon and opted for a replacement unit. The new unit worked fine. I suspect that returned, defective units are being shipped out without being repaired (the box of our first unit was beat up and torn). Good luck!

Answer:	I live in the snow belt near Lake Erie. We get a ton of snow and it has never been jammed up by the snow. My door is about 12” off the ground and faces away from the prevailing wind direction though. Honestly weather doesn’t seem to affect it. I’ve had mine for 1 year

Answer:	it can be opened by pushing the buttons, but it is basicly reprograming it. there is no one button to open or close. but it raises and lowers the door by a string. so you can prop the door open any time. closing it when it is open requires it be reset.

Answer:	If the ‘door jam’ message appears repeatedly, this means that your motor is having difficulty in lifting your door. This could be for one of two reasons; either your door is not sliding easily on the runners, or you have a tangled cord. Please check your runners, the weight of the door (waterlogged wooden doors weigh almost twice as much) and also have a look inside your unit to make sure your cord is spun correctly on the spindle. Please note that you will not be able to re-calibrate the door with the lid removed. Simply removing the batteries will not clear this message – you will need to clear the obstruction.

Answer:	I'm not sure what everyone is talking about, but it locks when closed at the bottom. If the raccoon grabbed the string and pulled up, THAT would release it. But the raccoon would need to pull up on the string and then grab underneath and push it open. Seems kind of hard for a predator. If you just push on the door itself, it will not open.
