How to attach double-sided 3M adhesive:

1. Lie heat pad on flat surface.

2. Turn on the heat pad

3. As pad heats, the pad will become smoother and flatter which will make it easier to apply the 3M adhesive.



How to adjust the temperature of the pad:

Rotate the switch clockwise to turn on, then continue rotating clockwise to adjust temperature from low to high. Then rotate the switch counter clockwise to turn off.

1. When securing heat pad to terrarium make sure it is placed so that reptiles will not have direct contact with the heat pad.

2. For indoor use only.

3. Placing terrariums with an under-tank heat pad on household furniture may cause the furniture’s finish to discolor. Tikaton recommends using a terrarium stand.

4. For use on glass terrariums only. Do not use on wood, plastic, acrylic or any other type terrarium.



Note: The heating temperature of the pad will be affected by the environment, best results are obtained at a room temperature of about 68-86°F (20~30 °C) in winter and less than 113°F (45°C) in summer.

Answer:	With the wattage and amperage it says it can supply it should easily be able to handle 2 lamps. Just run a strip off the plug and only have them 2 lamps controlled by the thermostat. AGAIN, as long as it will handle what they say it can handle. A 100watt bulb should only pull just under 1 amp.

Answer:	It is waterproof - I have watered plants that are on it so I guess it will work - I am only a customer like you and do not know for sure

Answer:	Yes, it can read room temperature, however it's the soil temperature that helps the seedlings grow. Also, I believe when it reaches set temperature it has a delay before turning back on. So use sand or rocks to retain the heat longer.
Question:	Anyone use this on a 20 gallon long tank for a leopard gecko
Answer:	I use mine to heat my 29 gallon reptile aquarium. Get the thermostat for it because these mats run at about 100 degrees without it.
Question:	can you put splitter on controller and run multiple mats
Answer:	Yes. I currently have two mats. I use them for my leopard gecko tanks and have them connected to a single thermostat to keep it a certain temp. They run off the same thermostat and have been working great for months now :)

Question:	Is the mat flexible at all, can it be bent slightly
Answer:	It is a bit flexible, but I don't think the sticky back will hold for very long if it has any kind of bend to it. So if you're planning on using the sticky on a curve, I don't think it will hold for very long. If you just want to put it on a slight curve and not stick it down, it might be o.k. I'm pretty sure it says it is supposed to be used flat though. If you're thinking to bend it slightly to get it inside of a cage, these don't go on the bottom inside cages. Outside of the bottom only. Wall heating is fine though. They do work fantastic too!! Very happy with mine!!
Question:	Does the temperature controller come with the heat mat
Answer:	No, the pad delivers a preset amount of heat - all or nothing - when plugged in. I have a 60 gallon terrarium and I apply a variety of sizes of heaters, then adjust the heat by adding and removing power as needed. Hope this helps.
Question:	Should there be a thin spacer under 4 corners of tank? So tank edge doesn't pinch the pads electric cord
Answer:	There should be some rubber spacers on each corner of the terrarium, not just for the cord, but also so the glass doesn’t overheat and possibly crack or even burn your animal. You need airflow to keep the temp stable. And one of my heat pads, it didn’t come with spacers. So I just went to Home Depot to pick some up for like three bucks.
Question:	I place my heat mat on a side of the tank, but it seems to not reach the desired temperature I need. The max temp is 70 degrees
Answer:	I'm not sure why you have this problem. Maybe you aren't using a thermostat or your specific item was damaged in shipping somehow? Mine reaches 95 with no problem.

Question:	Can I use this product for a dog heat mats (Kane poly heat mat)? Thanks
Answer:	I'm sure you can. I use mine for snake heat mats. Just make sure you put the probe in a place where the dog cant move it. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the enclosure and placed the probe inside, with the heat mat under the cage. The probe reads the surface temperature of the cage floor and not of the heat element. I have 3 of these thermostats and they all work really well for animal heating. They are often a few (+-4) degrees off though.

Answer:	Manual states: "Do not exceed a total of 1000 watts of heating devices plugged into thermostat."
Question:	I lost my instructions and cannot figure out how to change the thermostat. I have emailed Hydrofarm and had no response. Can someone help me
Answer:	Press and hold down the SET button for at least 3 to 6 seconds. The display will start to blink. Press the up and down buttons to increase or decrease the desired temperature. When you are through selecting the temperature, press and hold down the SET button for at least 2 seconds. I say 3 to 6 seconds because I count manually and I'm sure I am off a second or two. Hope this helps.
Question:	Can I plug 3 heating mats into a power strip and plug the power strip into the Digital Thermostat's AC output
Answer:	I currently have 2 heat mats plugged into a strip that in turn plugs into the Digital Thermostat. Been using this setup for 2 years, with no issues. I love it and believe that it would easily support 3 mats. Keep in mind that my mats and tray are all identical, since there is only 1 prob for the monitor.

Question:	How do you secure this strip around the brewing jar
Answer:	I use a rubber band to secure mine. Velcro strips or gaffer's tape would also work. If you're using this to brew kombucha or a comparable drink, whatever you do, don't set the jar on the heating pad, which is what another user recommended. That's the last thing you'd want to do. Doing this offsets yeast growth and will ruin batches. The variance in temperature throughout the container will also be greater.
Question:	can I rap this around a one gallon flower pot to keep the soil warm , for a rare topical plant i have , to keep it warm in teh winter months
Answer:	I'm sure you could, because it is a gentle heat hovering around 70*. You could set the planter inside another container inserting the heater between the two pots! Just be sure the plant pot is large enough for the root system, because with the warmth your plant will continue to grow throughout the winter.
Question:	Anybody use this for Kefir
Answer:	The optimal temperature is 37 °C (98.6 °F) so unless your ambient is at or above body heat, Kefir will benefit from a bit of extra heat. It will not grow well under 20 °C (68 °F) or over 45 °C (113 °F). Note that the 3" x 20" strips will wrap around a 6-7" jar.

Answer:	Directions said it does but I didn't.

Answer:	It would depend on what size habitat you have. Heat pads are rated per how many gallons they will be heating. This one is meant for a 10-20gal. habitat. If it gets too hot it could kill whatever critter you have.

Answer:	I use it on a plastic tub but I do have a thermostat to keep it from over heating

Question:	My aquarium stands on a wooden table. If I tape this to the bottom of the tank w/o touching the wood, would that work? Don't want to start a fire
Answer:	Yes but I highly wouldn’t recommend it for a water aquarium, because the glass will heat up and break
Question:	Is this safe to attach to a large wooden tortoise table. Basement in low 50's. Will this sufficiently bring heat up to acceptable levels
Answer:	1. It will not stick to wood. 2 It clearly says for use on glass only. 3. It will not get the temp up high enough. You will probably need to get at least one ceramic heat emitter (and a thermostat) for 24hr heat control, and, as stated, a basking UV heat bulb for the day time. A Kane heat pad may work as well, but you have to have a thermostat for that too so you don't cook your tortoise.
Question:	What are the deminsions of the heating pad? The 6x8 says 10x4 or 8x
Answer:	They sell different sizes, each a different wattage. It’s impirtant to buy based on the size of your tank, for example I bought the 8x18” because I’m heating a 40 gal tank with it.
Question:	Would this be safe to put on the bottom of a terrarium (under), for a corn snake who like to bury down to the glass? Would it be too hot
Answer:	The one i bought doesnt seem to get hot enough for me to worry about any risk of burn but you will need to somehow tape it to the bottom pf the tank because the adhesive is weak when it heats up and it will fall off. I used metal HVAC tape to keep it under the tank.
