User questions & answers
Question: | How long should lamp be left on for parakeets |
Answer: | I connected my light to a timer set 7:00-3:00. I also had a light cover covering one side of the cage if he wanted to rest in the shade. Not even in the wild do birds sit in the sun all day. |
Question: | The wiring is hard to get into each part that screws. How do you get the wiring to fit in so you can screw the base together |
Answer: | It is really easy to put together. The wiring is already done. |
Question: | Can this be used as a heat lamp for reptiles? Also what is the maximum amount of wattage it can hold |
Answer: | For a reptile you will want a separate UVB bulb and heat bulb. This is a UVB bulb, it doesn't provide heat. With the little heat it might has, it's not even close enough suitable for a reptile. You will want a heat/basking bulb for your reptile :) This also shouldn't be used as a UVB bulb for reptiles, as reptiles and birds have different UVB/UVA requirements. The reptile UVB is too strong for birds- so this would be too weak for them, whether tropical or desert. |
Question: | Would this lamp benefit cage free birds just being in their room? What's the radius of it's effectiveness |
Answer: | The lamp is not omni-directional, so, it wouldn't benefit cage free birds unless they roosted under the lamp. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i put a uvb/uva bulb in a fish tank light fixture |
Answer: | I assume you mean to ask if you can use a uvb/uva bulb for fish, if so, you can use it but the fish would not need it. Reptiles do need both spectrum because they are cold blooded and they need this type of light to be able to function and be healthy. I have 2 RES turtles in a fish aquarium with this type of uvb/uva bulb. I also have a separate fish aquarium that has led lights to make the aquarium look more attractive. If you have fish, buy the regular led or incandescent light blubs. If you have reptiles use a uvb/uva light. The hood lights made for aquariums will take both types of bulbs. |
Question: | will this work for fish tanks |
Answer: | Yes , however make sure the fish can take this strong of a bulb or that it is high enough from the tank . |
Question: | The 48" says its rated for 36w on this page, but everywhere online i've looked it's listed as 32w. which wattage is correct |
Answer: | Ours is a 36”, 25 watts, with T-8 |
Question: | Can you please verify if these are the T12 or T8 bulbs? I need 4 T12 bulbs. Thank you |
Answer: | They are T8 bulbs. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it fit ok on top of an Exoterra 18"x18" terrarium |
Answer: | Yeah but might come broken |
Question: | Can this fixture sit on top of screen lid? Instead of being placed inside of the habitat |
Answer: | So this fixture is actually intended for just that purpose. Doesnt have any premanufactured way to hang it inside or be suspended above a cage so right on the screen top is where it's intended to sit. |
Question: | Is this light fixture mountable |
Answer: | No it's intended to sit on top of a screen top. If your handy with tools, and creative, you can mount it but theres other products that are better suited for this. |
Question: | Can this be zip tied to the underside of a screen cover on a terrarium? I would rather the screen not block any of the uvb |
Answer: | I think it could be zip tied, I used velcro to hang them up in my nedosha plastic cages. I get about 3.2 to 3.5 at 12" on my uv meter out of a 5.0 t5 HO reptisun bulb. I also have some of these lights on top of screen reptibreeze cages and get nearly the same readings 3.0 to 3.4 at approximately 12 inches. |
