Answer:	I don't believe the heater gets hot enough to scald the fish. The heater only lets the water get 2-3 degrees cooler than the setpoint (if I set the temperature to 75 F, the heater will turn on at 72 or 73 F), so it doesn't need to work hard to get the water up to temperature. Also, water is an excellent conductor of heat, so if the outside temperature of the heater is hot enough to scald the fish, then all the water is probably hot enough to scald the fish.

Answer:	If you click though all the temperature options, and go back to desired temperature, it should stop flashing LL and show you the temperate it is at instead

• Plug in, the controller LED lights on, press the button and switch it continuously until the LED display shows your expecting temperature (From 68~93℉ ), and wait 3 seconds for system confirmation, then heater will start heating up to your preset temperature.
• Red lights means the heater is on heating mode, when heater heating up to the preset temperature, blue lights on, and heater will stop heating (Restart heating when temperature less than preset temperature)
• Operation for example: Plug in and LED display shows preset temperature 68℉, you want adjust it to 78℉, then press the button 10 times continuously, LED display will shows 78℉, and wait 3 seconds flashing, then setting fishined, heater will start heating from 68℉ to 78℉.

Answer:	Your Betta fish aquarium comes with an air pump. But let me tell you that the main reason people have air pumps in their tanks isn’t for aesthetic purposes! In fact, air pumps are used to oxygenate the water. It does this by moving oxygenated water to the bottom of the tank, and pushing water from the bottom of the tank (which normally contains carbon dioxide) back to the top, oxygenating it! However, don’t be mistaken. The bubbles passing through the water aren’t what oxygenate it. In fact, it’s the surface movement caused by the bubbles! When there’s a lot of surface movement, the gas exchange between your tank water and the air increases, causing your bettas water to become more oxygenated! If you keep an eye on your Betta’s breathing pattern you’d notice that the fish goes to the surface and gets a big gulp of oxygen up there and dives back down again. So, your water filter is playing a very important role in saturating the water surface with oxygen for the fish. Please just make sure that you keep the water pump clean and running.

Answer:	I called Marineland and they told me the only difference between the Portrait 5 gallon and the Contour 5 gallon is in the curvature of the lighting system. The lights themselves are identical (9 white LEDs and 6 blue LEDs). They also advised me that they are no longer making the Contour 5 gallon because except for the minor difference in the lighting structure they are exactly the same tank with the same filtration components. FWIW, I bought the 5 gallon Portrait and am very happy with it.

Question:	Is it possible that the filter cartridge included with the kit is too large? It does not fit in the housing
Answer:	It should fit across the little black cup filter. Basically when you inset, it should slide down middle and divide the cup. Water coming in bottom of one side them pushed up out of the cup on other side.
Question:	I was thinking about getting this for my dorm room next year? Do you think it will work? How often to you have to clean it
Answer:	It would be great for a dorm. It's only 1 gallon. It probably depends on what you put in it, how often you have to clean it. I have a single betta fish in mine, and probably clean it every 10 days to 2 weeks. I tend to over feed mine sometimes. I don't even use the filter in it because such a small area for such a lot of water movement... And on a couple of these, the lights stopped working after a while.
Question:	can a heater tube be put in here...will i have to keep the cover off and if so will the lights still be nice looking and working
Answer:	a small under gravel heater would be all you needed for this tiny thing. With that the thin cord can fit up beside the filter with some squeezing. Anything bigger then the lid will have to be off.. but the lights will still be lovely :D

Answer:	I'd say so. You need opposable thumbs to remove the lid. I don't know how big your cat is but mine was not strong enough to push it over. Answer:	You don't NEED a heater for a betta, though it will most definitely prolong his life. You could probably fit a VERY small heater in here, for roughly a 2-5 gallon. But keep in mind with such a small tank, it could overheat the water and harm your fish. If this is for a betta, I'd highly recommend getting at least a 2 or 3 gallon. Bettas die by stress and unfortunately, get stressed pretty easy. This would work fine as a temporary home or as a quarantine for when a fish gets fin rot, ick, or whatever it may be. Also, don't use the divider and DO NOT keep multiple bettas in here, even with the divider. Only good reason to use the divider is if you have two bettas you want to mate and are introducing them to eachother. Sorry for flooding info, hope this helps!
