Answer:	the one i bought only lasted about 2 weeks (the case seals were defective0 , and the warranty is no good here either because the manufacturer in chine will not respond to emails ! I would suggest looking into Nemo Solar pumps. I had 1 in a well for about 2 years before it failed due to corrosive water , however the newer ones have plastic cases which should solve that problem . Installed another nemo ( the plastic case ) about 6 months ago and it doing a fine job pumping about 200 gallons per day for cattle water . I highly recommend them even tho they cost a little bit more than the farm and ranch . The farm and ranch will only barely function on 12 volts also.

How to determine if it’s a right water pump for your aquarium tank?

The First Step: you need to decide the suggested flow multiples of your tank.Mainly we divide tanks to three types: FOT, LPS an SPS.Suggested Flow Rate Multiples:

• FOT(Fish Only Tank): 8~10 times of the tank's water volume.
• LPS(Large Polyp Stony Corals):2~3 times of the tank's water volume.
• SPS (Small Polyp Stony Corals):3~5 times of the tank's water volume.

The Second Step：know the actual required flow for your tank which is different for different types of tanks and calculate the applicable pump flow rate.

Here's the formula for you to calculate:

• Actual required flow（approx.)=water volume in tank(gallon)* (1+20%)*suggested multiple of different tanks

Answer:	Remember there can be a lot of loss of flow when pumping water and it adds up fast. For instance this pump is 1/2" output so you might think there is no reason to use a bigger pipe because the water flow is already choked down to 1/2" But if running more than a foot or so a 1/2" pipe will severely restrict the waterflow in either distance or height of pumping. It could be useful to run a 1" or even a 2" pipe if running over 5" or 2 or 3" up for maximum flow. Or stay with a smaller pipe if wanting to limit flow. I use a bigger pipe then add a restrictor at the end to give me the option. As an example: 5ft 1/2" gpm= 23 5ft at 3/4" pipe = 66 gpm. max. A low pressure pump could be significantly lower. The hose gets longer, the flow rate of the hose drops. A 25-foot, 1/2-inch diameter hose attached to a faucet that supplies water at 40 psi has a flow rate of 24 gallons per minute, while a 100-foot hose only has a flow rate of 6 gallons per minute. This pump is less that 40psi so these numbers will be much smaller.

Question:	I have 25ea- 2" diameter fence posts that are 8 feet high of which 2 foot is buried (filled with water). Will this suck all the water out the top
Answer:	I bought this pump for my water feature, to send water up 3 ft using a solar cell. It did a fine job for few weeks. The pump would appear to pump good amount of water if used horizontal, but 3 ft vertical a different story. Then it was not able to function. I do not recall what was this pump advertised for. It may have been for RV shower!. I do not think this is a pump for continuous operation. To pull water 8 ft is like sending water 8 feet high in its tube. I doubt this can handle this. My solar cell was a match for the wattage of this pump.

Answer:	That... would... depend. If the heat source was direct and hot enough to desolder the joints then, no. If the heat source was low, and indirect then maybe. I'd also be concerned that the fins would soot up or collect ash or other debris. My application has this in a freezer then pumped periodically into a another radiator to maintain 50 to 75 degrees in a fermentation chamber. So I really can't judge it's ability to handle a heater type load.

Answer:	It is supposed to be in the 25 lbs to 45 lbs range. My install seems to be closer to 15 lbs to 30 lbs on the cold water side. My on-demand hot water heater cuts that pressure (and flow) down considerably. I feed the pump with a 1 1/2" water line, and exit the pump with a 1" pipe feeding into my cabin. The 1/2 inch connections and pump fittings don't do me any good when trying to maintain pressure in the 1" pipe. I think I lose pressure here. I wish Shurflo would make the same pump with 1" fittings and flow-through. Tommy Wolff
