Answer:	RE: Filter Box. I use this pump for an outside fountain application with fairly clean water. To my knowledge a filter box is not required. That said, depending on the use, it may need something if the water being pumped is overly dirty. It is easy to clean however. I use a fine flexible mesh to catch excessively larger particles. I clean it monthly.

Answer:	Unfortunately the spout even fully extended can’t reach that high. But the water flow is so strong that you could possibly find some way to rig your own spout, or use stones or blocks to raise it up off the bottom. I can’t easily measure the height of mine now because of where it is located, but I guess 18” to maybe 24” max from the bottom of the filter base to the top of the spout at the spout’s full extension.
