Question:	What is the depth of this tank
Answer:	I would guess around 8" with all the rocks and decor in it. The tank itself is 11 1/2" tall.
Question:	Does this tank have a cover or hood of some kind to reduce evaporation nd keep my betta from junping out
Answer:	Yes it has a cover however it has a crescent shaped gap in the front about 3 to 3 1/2 inches long right in the center. I had this on my desk at work and so at night I took a 1/2 of a small paper plate to cover the gap just to make me feel better about my betta not jumping out. I've never had a problem as I keep the water level to where I think he can't get out :-)
Question:	Does the filtration system create too strong of a current for betta fish
Answer:	you can change the current strength on the back of the filter. I set it to medium and my betta has no problem swimming all over
Question:	Never had an aquarium, but considering this 5 gal. How easy and reliable is this kit? Is it true about changing 25% of water once/mo
Answer:	I think it's very easy, and definitely reliable. I bought this kit almost a year ago, and it's still running as well as when I first got it. I'm not an expert, and this is the first tank I've had in over fifteen years. I had no clue what I was doing, but I had it set up, running, and ready to go in no time. The only extra thing I had to buy was a heater and thermometer because I got a Betta fish, and they need warm water. I think the amount of water changes depends on what kind of fish you have, and how many. Right now I have a Betta and two plants, and do a 25-50% water change about every two weeks. It's super easy though because the tank is so small, and there's not a lot of water to change. I bought one of those things that has tubing connected to a cylinder, and siphon the water into a bucket. Then refill with spring water (I used to use tap water and add aquarium water conditioner, but now use spring water because our tap water has ammonia and water conditioner can't get rid of that. I like using spring water because I don't have to try measuring the right amount of water conditioner). If you get an algae eater, like an Otto, you won't have to clean the tank as much. If you do get an Otto, make sure you get at least two because they're happier, and therefore more productive when in groups of two or more. As usual I've gotten a little off subject so here's the bottom line: the tank is very easy to set up, it's very sturdy and reliable, the filter is adjustable, which is a nice feature, you may have to buy a heater and thermometer depending on what fish you get, I don't think it's a good idea to only do a 25% water change per month, but it's ok because water changes are very easy. I was trying to decide between this, and about five others, and I'm very happy and satisfied I chose this one.

Question:	Is it possible that the filter cartridge included with the kit is too large? It does not fit in the housing
Answer:	It should fit across the little black cup filter. Basically when you inset, it should slide down middle and divide the cup. Water coming in bottom of one side them pushed up out of the cup on other side.
Question:	I was thinking about getting this for my dorm room next year? Do you think it will work? How often to you have to clean it
Answer:	It would be great for a dorm. It's only 1 gallon. It probably depends on what you put in it, how often you have to clean it. I have a single betta fish in mine, and probably clean it every 10 days to 2 weeks. I tend to over feed mine sometimes. I don't even use the filter in it because such a small area for such a lot of water movement... And on a couple of these, the lights stopped working after a while.
Question:	can a heater tube be put in here...will i have to keep the cover off and if so will the lights still be nice looking and working
Answer:	a small under gravel heater would be all you needed for this tiny thing. With that the thin cord can fit up beside the filter with some squeezing. Anything bigger then the lid will have to be off.. but the lights will still be lovely :D

THERE ARE WELL OVER 24,000 SPECIES OF FISH known to science, and that number appears to be increasing daily. With so many thousands of species in existence—from whale sharks to minnows—we should all know what a fish is. However, things are not that simple, since there is no categorical definition of the term “fish.”

Identifying combined characteristics associated with fishes, such as an aquatic lifestyle and the possession of gills and fins, might seem to bring a definition a little closer— but other animals such as cuttlefishes (Sepia, etc.) and squids exhibit the same characteristics.

In broad terms there are two groups of fishes:

Cartilaginous fishes (Class Chondrichthyes): Sharks, rays, and chimaeras (about 700 species).

Bony fishes (Class Osteichthyes): A large class of species ranging from guppies to seahorses (over 23,000 species).

Of these two categories, the one that is encountered almost (but not quite) exclusively in aquaria and in ponds is the Class Osteichthyes, the bony fishes. It is possible, with difficulty and numerous exceptions and qualifications, to list the characteristics that, in combination, allow us to recognize a bony fish as such.

Bony fish:

• Possess a braincase and limb (fin) skeleton consisting, at least in part, of bone.

• Possess fins, usually with spines and/or rays.

• Breathe through outwardly directed gills covered by an operculum (gill cover) that appears externally as a slit-like aperture.

• Have bodies totally or partially covered in scales (with some important exceptions).

• Possess an air/gas swim-bladder used in buoyancy control (with a few exceptions).

• Possess a sensory mechanism called the lateral line system, which runs in a head–tail direction.

• Are poikilothermic (cold-blooded): their body temperature is determined by that of the environment.

Bandit Corydoras (Corydoras metae)

This pink and black corydoras has a black “mask” that extends from the top of the head, through the eye, to the bottom edge of the gill covers— hence the “Bandit” part of the name. The front of the dorsal fin is also black, this pigmentation running in a single central band along the back to the top front edge of the caudal fin and then down to the bottom front edge of the fin. From the side it can easily be confused with C. melini (Diagonal Stripe, or False Bandit, Corydoras) from the state of Amazonas in Brazil. However, from above the single black dorsal band of the Bandit Corydoras splits into two separate narrower bands in C. melini; they extend diagonally toward the caudal peduncle (the base of the tail fin).

Black-belt Cichlid (Vieja maculicauda)

The Black-belt Cichlid is an old favorite. It is easily distinguished by its prominent vertical central-body band, from which the common name derives. This band runs from the center of the dorsal fin right down to the belly, although its breadth and sharpness vary from specimen to specimen and according to the individual’s mood.

Fenestratus (Protomelas fenestratus)

Also known in the trade as Haplochromis steveni “Thick Bars,” this is one of several Protomelas species available, some of which are still awaiting scientific description. Male Fenestratus are the more brightly colored of the sexes, with the females having a more inconspicuous gray to silver coloration.

African Buffalohead (Steatocranus casuarius)

All the common names of this species—which is the only Steatocranus frequently seen in the hobby—accurately describe the head shape of fully mature males. Females also possess the nuchal (head) hump, but it is much less pronounced than in males. Steatocranus is a bottom dweller with limited swimming ability.

Green Terror (Andinoacara rivulatus)

This relatively large fish has distinctive cheek markings that are similar to those found in the Blue Acara. However, the head, particularly in males, is considerably larger, with a noticeable “forehead.” The Gold Saum and Silver Saum have golden/reddish and whitish/silvery edges to the dorsal and caudal fins respectively.

Orange-finned Loach (Yasuhikotakia modesta)

This is an unusually, but most attractively, colored species. It is sometimes confused with B. lecontei (Leconte’s Loach). However, in Orange-finned Loach all the fins are orange to yellow, while in B. lecontei the dorsal fin is grayish blue.

Answer:	5.5 and even the 10 gallon are not big enough for two or three goldfish. Goldfish produce more waste than the average fish and can get about the size of your hand. You can start off 2-3 one inch goldfish in a 10 gallon but will soon need to move them to a much larger tank.

Answer:	We have 1 small glo-fish in the tank and the filter is very gentle as it doesn't push the water around too much. It is extremely quiet also

Answer:	It'd probably be a little different. These are just blue led lights....
Question:	Is there a way to replace the blue LEDs with white or clear bulbs
Answer:	Just buy one of those 7 and 1/2 in simple multi color blue LED they sell here it looks like a clear cigar tube and there is a strip of lights in them and you even get a remote control with it for multiple colors so that a limited eliminates the need to put something up on the hood with ceiling that which that's a good idea by the way that guy had a good idea but what I'm talkin about I think they're twelve bucks I think it's made by simple and I bought several of them here it looks like a little clear cigar tube with suction cups and it's submersible and it comes with the RGB remote
Question:	Where is the filter located inside of the assembled tank
Answer:	Hi. There is no lid on the top of the aquarium and the filter sits on the right hand side. It's a nice filter does a great job. We clean it once a week and replace the charcoal bag once a month. The yearly cost for the filters is about 11.99. It has a nice waterfall effect to it. My daughter who changes her mind so many times a day is still in love with her glo fish tank. I hope this helps.

Care for your GloFish(R)

Feed fish two to three times a day in small quantities the fish can consume completely within three minutes.

Maintain water temperature at 72-80 degrees. Using an aquarium heater is a good idea, especially during winter.

Weekly

Use GloFish(R) Color Booster to maintain a healthy water environment for GloFish(R) and bring out their vibrant colors.

Test water quality with Tetra(R) EasyStrips(T-M) and track results on the free Tetra Water Care app.

Step 1:

To prepare for setup, rinse your gravel and decor with water, do not use soap or chemicals.

Find a flat place, preferably on a manufactured aquarium stand (for warranty purposes), away from direct sunlight and heating and air conditioning vents.

Add gravel, creating an upward slant to add depth.

Step 2:

Do not plug equipment in until water has been added.

Fill the tank with water, which has been dechlorinated with GloFish(R) Water Conditioner, to roughly 75%-90%.

Decorate tank to your personal taste.

Step 3:

Fill tank the rest of the way, again with water dechlorinated by GloFish(R) Water Conditioner.

You can now plug in all equipment safely.

To start your Whisper(R) Power Filter it needs to be primed which is done by pouring dechlorinated water into the top reservoir of the filter.

Step 4:

After your heater and filter have had a few hours to run, you can safely add fish.

Start by floating your bag from the store in the aquarium until the temperature of the water in the bag is the same as the water in your tank.

Do not directly pour your fish into the aquarium as it may be dirty. Gently net your fish out of the store bag and add to aquarium.

Question:	With the color fusion blue light will the fish glo like the blu light in the glo tank
Answer:	If you tank is relatively new you are probably going through initial biological cycle. Cut back on your feedings for a couple of days and pick up Tetra's new tank additives to help cycle your tank quicker.
Question:	Anyone else have a problem with the filter? Its not working properly, doesnt intake water and just gurgles. Also lid on it doesnt fit
