Question:	on average how often should they be changed on a 3 gallon tank
Answer:	I change mine every month. This prevents algae from forming in the tank and help keep your fish happy. But make sure you either use water conditioning drops or let the water you will be using to fill the tank sit for at least 48 hours. I keep three 1 gallon containers on the side so I can change my tank water every month. (Also, did you know that the water from your fish tank is great for your house/garden plants.) Question:	Is this the same as a Top Fin "Element" filter cartridge
Answer:	Not exactly. I tried this one on mine and although it fit, I had to really squeeze it in. I think I kind of left a dent on my filters, but it works! This is also worth it considering Top Fin’s prices are more expensive for sure.
Question:	What direction should the "cloth" side of the filter face? (Outside or Inside
Answer:	The plastic goes toward the tank. Water flows through the cloth side, and that is where poop and other solid material should get lodged. The water then flows through the cloth to the activated carbon. The water should always be filtered before it gets to the activated carbon, as the carbon removes gases and not solid material. The water then flows through the slots in the plastic side back into the tank. If you turn it the other way around, water flows through the plastic part directly to the activated carbon, where the carbon will quickly stop working because it would get clogged with poop. The plastic is not designed to be part of the filter, just to return water to the tank. Again, you want poop and other solid material stuck in the cloth side before the water gets to the activated carbon inside. Plastic side goes to tank, cloth side is ALWAYS IN ALL FILTERS the first thing the "dirty" water is supposed to touch.

Answer:	Yes there is. There is a big space between filters and back if filter. I have fluval ceramic rings in mine.

Answer:	I have 4 inches from the back of my Aquarium and the wall. There is 1 inch between the back of the Filter and the wall.
Question:	how do to maintence on 350 marine penguin power filter
Answer:	Generally good answers...these blue pads clog quickly, I like to rinse all my filters, but these really "hold" the detritus. OF course I would normally rinse filter pads in a bucket of old aquarium water DURING the water change. But tapwater is usually fine too . So, get the reusable frames they sell for 2 or 3 dollars. At least the blue pads are cheap on amazon and WM for a 6 pack.

Question:	Is it really loud? I already had to get rid of one filter brand because it was so noisy
Answer:	As long as you maintain your filter properly, the filter remains reasonably quiet. You do not need to change the impeller as often as one person commented. I have multiple AC 110’s for years and never had to replace the impeller at all. I have been using AquaClear filters for many years. When you maintain your filter, rinse the impeller off. Do not use anything abrasive or it will compromise its proper function by throwing it off balance as it spins during operation.
Question:	Will the 110 fit on over the 1-1/4" tank edge of my 70 gal tank
Answer:	13 1/2"L X 6 3/4"W X 9"H with 4" of its width behind the tank.
Question:	do you need to replace the filter media in time, and if so, how expensive is the whole kit
Answer:	Doesn't anybody read instructions? Change carbon filter after 1 month, change sponge after 2 months, change biofilter (little ceramic donuts) after 3 months. Never change more than one filter at a time which is impossible if you read their system - so at least 2 out of 3 times a month you'd be changing 2 filters. Charcoal filters should be changed monthly - they should also be removed if you are adding medication to the tank or it will soak up/deactivate medications. Personally I think you clean the sponge very well as needed - NO soap- just clean water, same with the donuts. Perhaps having you change so many filters so often is quite the moneymaking deal but not good for fish.
Question:	Would the 110 be overkill for a 36 gal goldfish tank? Would the 100 work just as well
Answer:	I run (2) 110's on a 90 gallon tank of exotic goldfish. That means I'm running 1000 gallons an hour through the filters on high. I've raised exotic goldfish for 50 years - goldfish are the DIRTIEST fish there are. They produce more ammonia than any other fish. These filters work great. I have some mini's - now called the 20's - which I have had for 35 + years, and they still run as well as the day I bought them. I ONLY USE AquaClear. Best filter out there! They last forever because there are no moving parts to break. There is only a magnetic impeller. In 50 years, I've only had to replace one intake tube that broke, and it was my fault! I tried a canister filter once, and quickly went back to my Hagen AquaClears. Easier to use, and as big as they are, you can use any kind of media in them that you want to use. You cannot go overkill on filtration for goldfish.

Answer:	it would. Because the fish has to sleep. Unless you have a bigger tank, it will be sucked in when they fell asleep even if she is strong to swim away while awake. I would cover the water intake with filter mesh or unwanted nylon silk stockings

Answer:	The Tetra Bio-Bag Large (formerly known as Regular) are the exact same as the filter bag supplied with the Tetra Whisper In-Tank filter 20i. I got both from Amazon: filter $11.89; 12 cartridges $12.28. These filters last a long time, can be cleaned and reused. For my purpose, this filter has been great.

Question:	Is this filter effective for turtles
Answer:	In order to use this filter for a turtle aquarium, your water level must stay ABOVE the minimum water level line at all times, which means it needs to be within 3-4 inches of the top of the tank. This is a problem with most turtle tanks unless you have a Turtle Topper. Otherwise, it will work well for a turtle tank.
Question:	Could you add a sponge filter to the intake so it becomes Fry friendly
Answer:	Yes, you sure could! You could use sponge media or filter floss. Just be sure to clean or replace it whenever it becomes clogged.
Question:	Does it have a warranty
Answer:	Yes, it comes with a 3 year warranty on all manufacturer's defects. This does not include normal wear and tear or abuse, of course, but Tetra has a very liberal warranty policy. If you need warranty help, call 1-800-526-0650.
Question:	does this come with biobag and carbon filters or do u have to buy some
Answer:	Your initial purchase of the filter includes the Whisper Bio Bags ( 1 of them for the models 20, 30 and 45, 2 for the 70) and the Bio Scrubbers (again, 1 for the 20, 30, 45 models and 2 for the 70). You should replace your cartridges on a monthly basis, but can rinse them in between changes. The Bio Scrubbers should literally last forever, unless you lose them or damage them somehow. Wash these off in a bucket of tank water with a toothbrush.

Can be used in turtle tanks

The Tetra Whisper EX filter can be used in turtle tanks. The water level must stay above the minimum water level line at all times, which means it needs to be within 3-4 inches of the top of the tank.

Step 1

Remove all packaging and attach strainer (and extension tubes, if necessary) so that strainer will be no closer than 2" to aquarium gravel once the system is hanging on aquarium frame.

Step 2

Hang system on aquarium frame. Be sure aquarium water is at or above the minimum water level indicated on system's motor assembly.

Step 3

Once system is properly in place, plug filtration system into outlet being sure to average a drip loop with the power cord.

Answer:	You should be able to for a short period of time. After you softened the tubing and placed it on the tubing, it will harden slightly and create a nice seal. The clamp is a safety precaution in case you do not install the tubing properly. You could always zip-tie it till you get a new clamp.

Answer:	Forget the pre cut filter pads! Go to your local home improvement store or Walmart and buy a chunk of blue cooler pad for a swamp cooler and cut it to fit! Then hit any fabric stores and get a roll of polyester quilt batting! Cut the batting to fit and it works just like regular filter floss for aquariums. The blue cooler pad material will last at least a year or more before it starts packing down. The polyester batting can be changed as often as you want to change it. Do make sure that you only buy the blue cooler pad material as the green ones have formaldehyde and will kill your fish. The blue one is a coarse polyester material and works great in tanks. I use both products in my sun sun filter as well as using throughly washed lava rock as my main filter media. Works great and is cheap to source.

1. 9w light/glass cover broken/doesn't work : if damaged, send us an email and some pictures about it, we will resend you a replacement. If not, rotate the top lid 180 degree, and try it again. Because there is only an inductive part on one side
2. Missing pieces: We may miss some pieces when packing, please send us an email if any part is missing
3. Leaking: Please check if the glass cover was broken. If not, make sure all pieces are assembled correct, adjust the o-seal ring on the top lid and put the filter lower than your tank, and make sure water can get through the green hoses soomthly
4. Loud noise from the motor: You may need to check the impeller on the top lid if there is anything in it, and clean it. And then try it again
5. Not pump water: Press the blue button on the top lid to compel the extra air out of the canister. And try it again
6. The flow is slow: Add enough water into the tank, and adjust the cotton and medias
7. Note: Push the glass tube all the way down, then twist it to lock in place

Question:	What is the difference between the 26164 and ATS26164? Both seem to be 12 large Whisper filter cartridges
Answer:	Hi, I use the Medium size whisper filter cartridges...the difference between the 26164 & ATS26164 could be the fact that one is a pre-assembled cartridge and the other is not. I buy the 12 pack of unassembled filters which are quite a bit cheaper and are the identical product. It comes with the white filters, one plastic insert, and small charcoal bags that take a few minutes to assemble. Hope this helps.
Question:	Does it fit topfin power filter
Answer:	I bought these about a month ago for my top fin 10 filter. The cartridge in my top fin 10 is angled inward at the bottom whereas this filter cartridge is more of a rectangular shape. Due to the shape it does not fit the top fin 10 slot. However I kept my old cartridge frame and I'm using this product, everything works great.

Answer:	Changing the cartridge will have no impact on the biological cycle as the beneficial bacteria is on the biogrid as well as items in the tank. All you need to do is remove the old cartridge, rinse the new one to remove any excess charcoal dust and place it in the holder. We do not recommend doing anything more than possibly rinse in aquarium water for the cartridge holder as that would decrease the beneficial bacteria in the system. Some people scrub it each month in the sink which is absolutely not the right thing to do

Question:	How does this filter work to keep the surface water clean? I have used canister filters before and always end up with that film on top of the water
Answer:	Yes you can choose to use them, but put them in the bottom basket because the flow is sucked up and you can cut you flow rate when the polishing clothe gets sucked in up against water return filter screen. (I thought I broke mine then I took it apart and found my mistake). I use a foam pad versus poly fill tho and then just rinse it every month. And there is plenty of room for bio media on top of the foam and in the other baskets.
Question:	How is it's long-term reliability? I have had several canister filters in the last 15 yrs and all have leaked
Answer:	Yes you need at least 24" but 36 would be better. The connectors are app. 5" and the hoses are pretty stiff so they don't bend well. I have the same space in my stand and I had to cut out the back to slide it farther back and then I have to disconnect the hoses before I can remove the unit. I will get another stand as soon as I can. You also want at least 20 inches between the top of the tank and the unit.

Answer:	Spec says.....80-160 US Gallon which pretty much speaks for itself. get the Fluval FX6 which has a much higher output and made for bigger tanks......even with this filter you need more circulation for a tank of that size. Most specifications are on the high end. I personally wouldn't go bigger than a 100 gallon with the G6

Answer:	The water flow is not adjustable as far as I can tell. I have not had the need to adjust as the pressure seems optimal and I have three of these units on three separate aquariums, each with different populations of fish.
