Answer:	The bottom of my pump shows the ETL symbol. Not sure if this helps you too, but I also see "conforms to UL std 1018" and "certified to CSA std C22.2 No. 68". It lists the Hagen company name and website as well. Take care.

Answer:	No it doesn't keep the water cool. I would say it means the the pump it self does not run warm or hot.

Question:	If I have a 72 gallon bow front tank, would these work good enough if I bought two to keep the tank clear
Answer:	I would suggest a stronger filter than aquatech, which works for smaller variety up to 60 g. You should go for aquaclear 70 or 110, they are great but are costly. I always aim for higher recommended capacity, for example for a 10 g, I would buy a filter for 20g. They are better for the long run. It's also based on your fish if they prefer low or high flow, aquaclear lets you control the flow and has three stages of filtration, which is why I like it, but aquatech is a good starter option I've had it for a couple years and I mean it does its job.

Answer:	Your going to want to calibrate the ph tester digital for accurate readings. There is a calibration kit that has ph 4 and ph 7 solutions. You place the ph tester and tds meter in the ph 4 solution and push calibrate on the ph meter digital. Ph tester digital takes a second for the tester to calibrate, you then repeat with the ph 7 solution and your ph ppm meter combo is true and accurate. I keep a little ph solution of both in a small container and re use them for a while. It may take a few minutes to figure out and get used to water meter, but once you learn to calibrate it only takes a few minutes each time for accuracy.

How Does It Work?

A sponge filter uses bubbles of air from an external air pump, or an integral water pump to draw water through the sponge.

As water is drawn out through the lift tube or pump, it is replaced by water entering the sponge.

The surface of all the bubbles or pockets in the sponge provides a bed for the bacteria of a biological filter.

The bacteria help to break down harmful waste (ammonia and nitrite).

What Maintenance Does It Require?

The sponge will need to be rinsed every time it becomes dirty, about once every 2 to 4 weeks.

It’s helpful to reserve the beneficial bacteria by washing the sponge gently with water from the fish tank instead of tap water.

After 3 to 6 months’ usage, the micro holes of sponge is gradually clogged by the tiny debris, the beneficial bacteria won’t have as much living space as before.

So it is also recommended to replace the sponge once every three to six month or when the sponge gets worn out.

Whenever you measure your home tap water changing significantly, it is probably time to calibrate again.

Answer:	The AQQA is durable and the magnet connection is a plus. I think the gpm is not that powerful. If I were to purchase another WaveMaker I would buy this brand if I could find one with higher gpm. As far as electric leakage, all my fish seem healthy. Other brands I have had, some fish get entangled in the cage and this so far have not had that issue.

Question:	Is this filter effective for turtles
Answer:	In order to use this filter for a turtle aquarium, your water level must stay ABOVE the minimum water level line at all times, which means it needs to be within 3-4 inches of the top of the tank. This is a problem with most turtle tanks unless you have a Turtle Topper. Otherwise, it will work well for a turtle tank.
Question:	Could you add a sponge filter to the intake so it becomes Fry friendly
Answer:	Yes, you sure could! You could use sponge media or filter floss. Just be sure to clean or replace it whenever it becomes clogged.
Question:	Does it have a warranty
Answer:	Yes, it comes with a 3 year warranty on all manufacturer's defects. This does not include normal wear and tear or abuse, of course, but Tetra has a very liberal warranty policy. If you need warranty help, call 1-800-526-0650.
Question:	does this come with biobag and carbon filters or do u have to buy some
Answer:	Your initial purchase of the filter includes the Whisper Bio Bags ( 1 of them for the models 20, 30 and 45, 2 for the 70) and the Bio Scrubbers (again, 1 for the 20, 30, 45 models and 2 for the 70). You should replace your cartridges on a monthly basis, but can rinse them in between changes. The Bio Scrubbers should literally last forever, unless you lose them or damage them somehow. Wash these off in a bucket of tank water with a toothbrush.

Can be used in turtle tanks

Step 1

Remove all packaging and attach strainer (and extension tubes, if necessary) so that strainer will be no closer than 2" to aquarium gravel once the system is hanging on aquarium frame.

Step 2

Hang system on aquarium frame. Be sure aquarium water is at or above the minimum water level indicated on system's motor assembly.

Step 3

Once system is properly in place, plug filtration system into outlet being sure to average a drip loop with the power cord.

All Air Pump Accessories Needed

It comes with 2 back flow valves, 2 air stones, 2 Connectors and 6.5 feet 3/16 inch ID standard airline. Convenient to set an air pump up for no need to find accessories elsewhere.



Directions for Use:

1. Cut the tubing into 2 pieces or to the length needed.

2. Attach the air line into the pump, connect the air stone to the other end of air line.

3. Place the pump above the aquarium or bucket if possible. Or you need to add a check value between air pump and air stone to prevent back siphoning.
