Answer:	it will work for some plants but all you would need to do is get a plant light to put into the hood. which would work better. you should be able to replace the bulb with the right light for plants. so to your question the light is not suitable for plants but a easy fix.

Answer:	The 24x12 fits my 20 gallon tank, just measure the top of your tank and go by that.

Answer:	I have 2 20G aquariums. 1 20G tall (24" x 12") and 1 20G long (30" x 12"). The tall aquarium I bought as a kit and it came with a Marineland hood. The light in the hood works great. It lights up the aquarium really well and I have lots of live plants that are thriving in that aquarium. So, when it came time to set up my long aquarium, I decided to go with another Marineland hood and purchased this one. I was quite disappointed to find that they use the same light bar for both the 24" and 30" hoods. This does not work well at all for the long aquarium. The sides and corners are not well lit enough. I do have some live plants in this aquarium, but I have to keep them toward the center of the aquarium. I wouldn't recommend this hood if you need/want a lot of light in your aquarium.

Answer:	Yes, I have had both of these that I've owned on an outlet style timer.

Answer:	I don't remember and I don't have the package info anymore. Although I can tell you that I use it in my 29 gallon tank and it's a very sufficient amount of white light. Probably enough lumen to supply up to a 40 gallon tank. The blue night mode is very dim and tranquil.

Answer:	If you already have a Marineland hood with an opening for one of their lights, then this will probably fit. If you have just a plain glass top this will still work, but this light is designed specifically to fit Marineland aquarium hoods.
Question:	I have a ten gallon tank, is this the one that fits in the hood
Answer:	If you have a 10-gallon Marineland kit that came with a hood then it will fit. This is the same light that comes with the 29G kit and it is the same size (but more LEDs) then what come with the 10G. I wanted more light in my 10G so moved this one from my 29 to 10 and bought a Finnex Stingray and glass top for my 29.

Answer:	I’m not sure how many watts it used. But I had this for less than a year and it burnt out and I couldn’t find replacement lights so I had to by different aquarium lights that suction cup to the lid. Might be better off doing that instead if you already have the lid.

Answer:	They don’t seem to be. I’ve had it for a few months now & it’s fine. My previous hood with the incandescent bulb was definitely affected by the humidity so I was skeptical too but so far so good!

Answer:	It attaches to the top of your tank - I would assume that the exact location (which side) would vary depending on what kind of tank you have. It has a clip that attaches to the tank. It's quite secure and lights the tank well, although I wasn't too sure about it being submerged in the water. I'm not sure it would have to be for every tank, but for mine it is (and it's apparently waterproof, so it's not a big issue after all).

Answer:	They are two different types of lights. This one has bright white and blue LEDs, only. The Cycle Light is a rainbow of colors that cycle through constantly unless you set it on one color. The blue and white leds are probably a little brighter, but we don't have the specs to compare them, directly, since the lights are intended for two different purposes.
