| Answer: | I have not tried the Top Dog puppy pads but did not see very many current reviews. What I did see were reviews similar to the Glad puppy pads. I currently have the Glad puppy pads and can tell you that regardless of what the ad says, they leak. I have had several instances of the pads leaking. The Glad pads are 23 X 23 which makes them a bit larger but as far as absorbent, I'm not sure which would really work better. Try both I guess. |

If your pet relieves himself somewhere other than the designated spot where the pad is placed, bring him back to the correct spot immediately. Keep in mind that your pet will have to relive himself shortly after a meal and will need to eliminate more frequently during the summer when his water intake is higher. The minute your dog begins to relieve himself on the pad, be sure to use cures like “go potty”. You should use this cue every time that your dog relives himself on the pad so that he associates the phrase with the action of elimination. Every time that your pet used the pad successfully, make sure that you give him a treat and lots of praise. Treating helps your dog to understand that he is doing what you want him to do. Always remember to dispose of soiled pads and replace them as needed. When your pet begins to relieve himself on the pads, on consistent basic, it is time to begin moving the pad closer to the door. Keep moving the pads closer to the door until they are actually outside. At this time, the training process will be complete.

With the seat and the cover closed the unit is just about 2 inches thick - that is to say the top of the cover is about 2 inches off of the porcelain of the toilet. However, if you do not include the cover the seat measures about 1 & 1/2 inches off of the toilet porcelain. Then of course please consider that the actual seat has protective bumpers on the bottom to cushion the seat from the toilet porcelain. Those bumpers are about a 1/4 of an inch think. | Answer: | I tried for months to get my dog to use this and nothing worked, until we used real grass. He's 7 and hasn't had an accident in the house ever so this was tricky to get him to switch to. We bought a 4x2 piece of sod from Home Depot, cut it to size and placed the real grass on top of the fake grass. For 2 days he continued to avoid peeing inside. This next part is weird so please don't judge me...since he's a male and enjoys marking I went and collected some neighbors dog poop and placed it on the grass. Like magic, he peed right on top, we gave him lots of treats and praise and he learned that it was ok to pee on the indoor grass patch. After about 4 days he was confidently using it consistently so we removed the sod and he didn't even notice. It took some work on our end but he's been using the fake grass with no issues ever since. |

Training pads are ideal for puppies and dogs that stay indoors for long periods of time. What you should do; unfold the training pad and place it in a confined area. (Blue plastic side down). it is important to place your puppy or dog on the training pad several times a day in order to get him used it. On the average, a puppy must relieve himself every few hours, based on his age (A 2 month old puppy every 2 hours, a 3 month old Every hours etc. ). If your pet relieves himself somewhere other than the designated spot where the pad is placed, bring him back to the correct spot immediately. Keep in mind that your pet will have to relive himself shortly after a meal and will need to eliminate more frequently during the summer when his water intake is higher. The minute your dog begins to relieve himself on the pad, be sure to use cures like "go putty". You should use this cue every time that your dog relives himself on the pad so that he associates The phrase with the action of elimination. Every time that your pet used the pad successfully, make sure that you give him a treat and lots of praise. Treating helps your dog to understand that he is doing what you Want him to do. Always remember to dispose of soiled pads and replace them as needed. When your pet begins to relieve himself on the pads, on consistent basic, it is time to begin moving the pad closer to the door. Keep moving the pads closer to the door until they are actually outside. At this time, the training process will be complete.

| Answer: | This is a heavy material about 1/2 inch thick. It has an eggshell texture, not the smoothness of a piece of plastic. It is very sturdy and after 4 years, the rubber bumpers under the seat have yet to show signs of wear. After looking at my local hardware stores and building supply stores at as many as available, this seemed to be the best. Should either of the two I have need replacement, I would definitely buy these again. |

| Answer: | We have two of these and the hinges are made of metal. I don't know what type of metal, but we have a family member that weights close to 350 pounds and neither of these have broken or come loose. She uses both on a daily basis. I'm not sure what type of metal these are made of, but it must be pretty strong as we have had these for a year or more now. The two bolts that hold this to the toilet bowl are made of some sort of hard plastic. They screw in and hold a metal piece that you have to line up when you tighten this down. The fact that these are so easily removed is great for cleaning. The first one I purchased was from Amazon and it is not the slow closing type. I'm pretty sure the metal is the same, just a different model. The second one I got at "the Blue and White" hardware store and it is a little different than the Amazon one. Basically the same, it just was harder to install for some reason. The main reason was that it had the wrong hardware. These also say to clean them with soap and water, but we have a housekeeper and she wipes them down with those Clorox wipes, then with a clean damp rag. Hasn't seemed to harm the color or finish in anyway. I've read a few reviews that people have had the seat spit as a result of them slamming shut. But since this is a slow close model, it should not be an issue. We replaced two of our toilets with the TOTO "Drake" model toilets and I have to say I hate them. The tank lid dosent even seem to fit them correctly and I wish we had gone with our gut feeling and bought the Kohler model we originally planned to purchase. The tank lid just sits on th top and doesn't overlap the tank or have any type of system to keep the lids from moving back. It looks like the design is suppose to create a smooth look to the tank. It's a pain to keep these from moving. It's almost like the lids are not made for the toilet, but it was a boxed deal, so I am assuming that this is how these are designed. It also isn't completely fired on the lower edge which shows when the lid has shifted. I'm constantly having to move the lids back into place. I'm considering caulking these down to keep them in place and eliminating me from constantly having to fix the tank lids. These where bought at a well known plumbing company with a showroom and the only reason we decided to buy them in the first place was that we have a friend who knows the owner. I can see that these will be replaced in the near future with the Kohler model we initially considered buying.The TOTO model came with a slow close seat and it's very uncomfortable. It's made of plastic completely and they scratch very easily. After about three months time, they started having side to side movement. This was due to the poor seat design, not the lack of tightness to the bowl. If you are using this on a TOTO model, it will hang over the front edge just a little. This is only noticeable if you are looking at the seat from the floor level, which no one should be doing anyway. If I had to replace one of these seats for any reason, I would not hesitate to buy this one again. However, I would without a doubt buy the Kohler toilet instead.Hope this has helped you and not overwhelmed you with information. But the hinges are metal. |

| Answer: | IF you are trying to train your dog, do whatever you do to take her/him out for a bathroom break... but don't go outside. Walk him/her to the pee pad and use the leash to keep them there until they do their business. Follow with showers of praise... then let them off the leash. Do it as often as you do for going outside. Keep the routine as accurate as you can, just never go out... just take him/her to the pad. S/he will get the idea and when s/he uses it the first time without the leash, shower with praise as you always do. We follow with a small piece of a treat (we own a 9 pound Chihuahua - now about 12 pounds since we're really homebound these days... (grin)) as reinforcement, she almost never has an accident. In fact, her accidents are pretty much deliberate because we ignored her over something else, and she wants to get our attention (along with another treat...). Depending on your breed of dog and its experience with indoor plumbing, it should take no longer that 3-5 days for them to get the idea. * * * 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 the one who has to be consistent with the training... I am a potty pad pro as I have 2 small dogs who have no idea what outside is, they only use the potty pads indoors and I can tell you from my very recent experience that these leak, track, do NOT turn into gel, and with a 10 pound dog and a 3 pound dog, they are not putting out that much urine to be flooding the floor under the pads every single time. And no, the pad is not dry to the touch after they go. One of my dog's is diabetic and I was able to get urine samples for his ketone tests right off the pad up to 15 minutes after he urinated. Yeah, it's that bad. I will stick with Amazon Basics pads, they are the best quality I have found, are about the lowest price, and do not leak. I would not recommend these at all! Hope this helps. |
