User questions & answers
Question: | Is this oil derived from farmed fish |
Answer: | The ratio is 51% Salmon Oil 49% Pollock Oil. |
Question: | What is the ratio of Salmon Oil to Pollock oil in this product |
Answer: | No Refrigeration needed! :) Only Pure and Truly Wild Salmon Oil does not need to be refrigerated. |
Question: | Does the product require refrigeration after opening |
Answer: | This is a blend of Salmon Oil and Pollock Oil to help with sustainability. The Omega-3's are not quite as strong as pure 100% Salmon Oil, but the Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio is actually better than 100% Salmon Oil. its a lot cheaper too. It's just another Grizzly Branded Product to fit different needs of different customers. There's nothing to worry about as far as quality or efficacy. Unfortunately Grizzly doesn't sell on Amazon themselves so some of the information is not getting conveyed. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Grizzly Pet Products' website states there IS rosemary in it. Is there another version of the oil that is not on the website |
Answer: | The grizzly Pollock oil does not have rosemary listed in the ingredients. |
Question: | How many pumps / squirts will you get out of the bottle? (for example, the 32 ounce size |
Answer: | It depends on the size of your dog. If you look at the photos with the product description, it shows the chart from the bottle which breaks it down by how much your dog weighs. For example, a 45 lb dog needs 2 squirts per day, therefore the 32 Oz bottle lasts 4.5 months, according to their chart. |
Question: | is the dog and cat supplement the same |
Answer: | This question is old, but I was wondering the same thing so will leave my answer here. All Grizzly Salmon Oil products are exactly the same per the company. They market the smaller 4 oz. bottle for cats because 1) the pump is smaller so you can measure (according to the instructions on the side of their bottle) 1 pump, 2 pumps, etc. depending on cat weight and 2) one cat will not consume a larger bottle in the amount of time for their recommended shelf life (4-5 months). If you have multiple cats and will use more salmon oil or are splitting between pets, the product is exactly the same between dog and cat bottles, it's just a marketing technique. The larger bottles are cheaper per oz. so if you will use the larger amounts or have the ability to measure without the pump for a cat they are a better deal. I am almost positive that regardless of dog or cat the product is just measured by weight of animal (so a 10 pound cat would consume the same amount as a 10 pound dog) but I didn't ask customer service about this, so I would double check with them if you are concerned. |
Question: | Does this decrease shedding |
Answer: | Yes! With proper coat health, decreased shedding can be expected. And this product helps our dogs very much with shedding! |

Is Your Salmon Oil Approved by the NASC?
If you are buying any supplement for your pet, make sure it is from a manufacturer who is a certified member of NASC.
The NASC’s mission is to work cooperatively with state, federal and international government officials to create a fair, reasonable, and nationally consistent legislative and regulatory environment.
Such an environment of safety, accuracy and quality serves the interests of NASC’s members by ensuring that ethical manufacturing and labeling practices are complied with throughout the industry.
Not All Salmon Oil is Created Equal.
Grizzly uses only wild-sourced Alaskan salmon because they spend their entire lives foraging on a natural and nutrient-rich diet.
Why is this important? Wild Alaskan salmon have inherent antioxidants and vitamins not found in farmed salmon. Wild Alaskan salmon contain 40% more omega-3 content than farm-raised salmon, so you receive 40% more servings, calories and benefits.
Avoid farm-raised salmon oil. Salmon oil is like a finger print. Check the Omega-6 levels from a verified analysis:
- If Omega-6 levels are over 3.5% it is either farm-raised or molecularly distilled, which uses alcohol and esters, rendering it a non-natural and non-wild-sourced product.
- If Omega-6 levels are hidden or not provided, nearly always the salmon oil is farmed or mixed with farmed oil.
If the salmon oil manufacturer is not certified by the NASC, there is no assurance the label and/or product claims are accurate because the supply chain and manufacturing practices have not been audited.
No Fish is Caught for the Purpose of Making Oil.
Fishing for wild Alaskan salmon is heavily protected and regulated. Since Grizzly is an NASC member, you know their entire supply chain and facilities have been thoroughly audited.
Also, the NASC consistently reviews product labels and the language on this very listing for accuracy.
To ensure they use only premium ingredients and leave a small ecological footprint, Grizzly created partnerships with human-grade fish-processing plants in Alaska and built their very own facilities practically next-door.
From their own Alaskan facilities to their headquarters in Woodinville, WA, Grizzly's salmon oil never leaves their hands until it is bottled and sent to you. Grizzly sends samples of every batch to independent third-party laboratories for contents and quality control.

Question: | What is the quantity of, in mg., of fish oil, EPA, and DHA |
Answer: | I have not smelled the salmon oil however I don't think the pollack smells bad and my dogs coat is so much softer :) |
Question: | Does the Pollock oil smell as bad as the salmon oil? We finally gave up on salmon due to the smell |
Answer: | Grizzly Pollock Oil contains 22% Total Omega-3; 12% EPA Omega-3; 6% DHA Omega-3; 1.5% Total Omega-6Grizzly Salmon Oil contains 29% Total Omega-3; 10% EPA Omega-3; 10% DHA Omega-3; 3% Total Omega-6EPA Omega-3 is best for Skin & Coat; DHA Omega-3 is best for Organ HealthTherefore both products will help with Skin & Coat, and Organ health, but Pollock Oil is better for Skin & Coat, while Salmon Oil is better for the Organs. it is recommended to alternate whenever possible, or during a Wild Salmon Limited Supply, switch to Pollock Oil until the Wild Salmon Returns. You want the most Omega-3's with as little Omega-6's as possible. Omega-6's are pro-inflammatory so you want to avoid those as much as you can.- Grizzly Sales Employee |
Question: | Does anyone know how the Pollock oil compares to the Salmon oil in omega-3 and -6 content |
Answer: | In the bottle I bought there are 477 ml of fish oil. There are 4.92 ml in a teaspoon. The bottle says for your dog's size, the correct serving is 1/2 pump which they say is 1/2 teaspoon. Doing the math there are 193.58 half teaspoons in the bottle. You are not going to get exact 1/2 pumps and you will occasionally miss or waste, so I would figure on somewhere around 185 servings or days of treatment per bottle if you store it in a cool, dark, dry place so it does not spoil. Don't refrigerate and do store in a cabinet or some other dark place because direct sunlight is bad for the stuff in storage. Our old dog seems to be happy with this product and we are 100% sure it has helped her coat and also joint function. The old sweetie (a mid-size at 47 pounds) is going to hit 15 at the end of this October. |

Question: | I see only salmon oil. But the claim is that it contains both Omega 6 an Omega 3. What is the source of the Omega 3 fatty acid |
Answer: | One pump stroke equals 29% min. of omega 3 and 3% min. of omega 6. Depending on size of dog, 1/2 to 4 pump strokes a day. Source of oil is wild Alaskan salmon oil and is manufactured in the USA. I've been using for several years and their coats are like silk. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this oil have the heavy metals removed |
Answer: | I put the product in an easier to use spray bottle, so don't have original can, but researched some and found it has "no unnecessary extras"; no potentially harmful Rosemary preservatives or trans fats. can get further info at Pet Mountain _call 18883738686. |
Question: | Please tell me. is it true that they use farmed salmon to make this oil |
Answer: | It seems to be farm-raised salmon since they have this in their ad >> Farmed salmon is as pure as wild due to the fact that once the salmon oil converted into oil any toxins(if any) are removed. |
Question: | How many squirts/pumps per how many pounds |
Answer: | Hi there. This bottle is 33 ounces. There are 198 teaspoons in this specific bottle. The pump is metered to provide 1/2 teaspoon of salmon oil per "squirt." So that is approximately 396 squirts per bottle, give or take. The label has recommendations for daily servings for both cats and dogs. The daily servings are determined by the animal's weight. The salmon oil can be refrigerated though it isn't necessary. It is recommended to use the contents within 3 months after opening the bottle. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Does this come in a metal bottle? I've heard that the plastic and glass bottles do not properly store fish oil |
Answer: | Yes, this comes in a metal bottle. As well, I've not had any issues with the pump with regard to functionality. However, I did notice that I was able to get another week or 2 of uses after the pump was not able to reach the oil at the bottom of the bottle. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this good for cats dandruff? Both mine have itchy flaky skin on their backs |
Answer: | I didn't have a problem with it spilling. I would sent it back. |
Question: | I believe mine has gone bad. It has a metalic scent/taste. My cats normally love it but rthey will not touch this stuff. Has anyone else had this prob |
Answer: | I do not know what you purchased at Walmart - be careful of similar looking knock-off products! I would read the label carefully & contact the manufacturer for verification of ingredients, origin and expiration date. I was directed to this product through a customer of mine & only used it during the winter months for dry skin/coat....fantastic results & my dog loved the flavor. The only down side was she did smell a bit fishy, but her flak-free skin & shiny coat & no itchiness were well worth it. Planning to use again & highly recommend. |
Question: | Can anyone tell me how to contact the seller in order to get a pump thay actually works |
Answer: | I've noticed with my the dogs it helps with skin allergies and their coats are so much more healthy. So for my three it has helped with the itchiness but like people not all dogs will react the same. |
Question: | Can anyone tell me what the calorie count is on this product? My baby is on a "diet" and I don't know how to add his two pumps per day. Thank you |
Answer: | The bottle lists two items salmon oil and rosemary extract. The product is orange and oily smelling like fish oil. My dogs love it and their fur shines. I would recommend it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I also received the 4 oz bottle and it says "cat" food supplement. The ingredients are identical. Can I give it to my dog |
Answer: | If the ingredients are identical, I would say yes. It is salmon oil. However, when in doubt it is always good practice to give the vet a call. Sincerely,Theresa McAdam |
Question: | Title says 4 ounce, but bullet points say 8 ounce pump bottle. Can someone clarify please |
Answer: | The image and the title is 4 ounces. As well as the price point. 8 oz bottles could never be sold at this price. |
Question: | Is this product tested for heavy metals, pesticides, pcbs, etc? is it safe for human use |
Answer: | Would suggest that you contact mfg. for that info. |
Question: | Can this be used for cats too |
Answer: | from their website: Yes. The oil is the same, it's simply packaged in larger quantities for larger dogs. Most cats love the flavor of fresh fish and will benefit from Omega-3s just as much as dogs. Use Grizzly Salmon Oil proportional to your cat's weight; see the bottle for dosage instructions ... |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many one pump servings does this have |
Answer: | It does need to be kept in the refrigerator after opening to maintain freshness. There is no expiration on the packaging (I looked on my bottle). In the refrigerator it should last 9-10 months if it falls into line with other natural salmon oils I have used in the past. You won't use it all due to her size as she will only be taking a half a teaspoon a day. Another thought, you can make treats with the salmon oil too. This way you can share with other canine friends :) hope this helps! |
Question: | does this product contain mercury |
Answer: | Hello!Fish oil absorption is possible without vitamin E, in both cats and dogs. An excessive amount of fish oil, however, may cause difficulties with the pet's absorption of Vitamin E. Therefore it is extremely important to always follow, and never exceed, the recommended dose.Rose - Zenwise Labs |
Question: | seller: can you post a picture of the ingredients on the label? thx |
Answer: | Anything that says Labs for the seller tell you where it's made. I bought it 2 months ago because it was slightly cheaper than the grizzly brand I had been using. Big mistake! It gave my dog soft stools and vomiting. I know that for a fact as it was the only variable and everything stopped once I stopped this supplement. Proof to anyone is the smell. Mine smelled nothing like fish which even a fish oil pill will. |
Question: | How many milligrams of omega 3 is in a teaspoon? there is % detail for epa & dha & omega 3, and mg detail for epa & dha, but no mg for omega |
Answer: | After trying all the hints, I used BronxRev comments and it worked! I used my phone flashlight and looked at the top of the pump, it has a very small arrow indicating which direction to turn the pump (counterclockwise). Then I took pump off the bottle, washed off the oil I wasted, abd dried the pump. I got a paper towel and gripped the clear tube part very hard. Then I used my right hand to rotate the very top of the pump (mine was orange) while keeping hard grip on the lower clear area of pump. And after a few seconds of rotating the top orange part, it came loose and popped open. TG!! They need to either fix this design or put in a little video showing how! Gotta go now and take a shower cuz I feel like its needed so I can get rid if the fushy smell!!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | About how much is in a 1 pump. 1 tablespoon? Trying to estimate how long it will last |
Answer: | I measured it and its 1 teaspoon= 1 pump |
Question: | Is this 64 or 128 ounces |
Answer: | 128 |
Question: | What's the difference between fish oil and salmon oil? Salmon oil seems to be more common in pet stores |
Answer: | Life Line's Salmon Oil has almost twice the Omega 3 potency of their Alaskan Fish Oil product. In other words, the Alaskan Fish Oil is half the price but you need to use twice as much to get the same Omega 3 benefit as the Salmon Oil ...no bargain. Their Salmon Oil is very inexpensive (compared to other salmon oil brands) and a great product! |
Question: | does it have to be kept refrigerated |
Answer: | I prefer not to take any chances on the oil spoiling due to the size of the container, and the fact that it takes a long time to use it all up. I use a smaller size empty container with a pump to make it easier to handle and dispense. The downside is it does take up some space in the refrigerator. But hey, have to keep the boys happy and healthy. |
