Question:	How long does it take to get the results back
Answer:	I purchased the kit on Black Friday 2019 sale. It took 16 days from mailing to receive all test results. I was expecting longer than the estimated 3-4 weeks due to the presumably increased sales during the holidays. Here is my timeline: Mailed the sample on 12/5. Delivered to Embark 12/10. Sample sent to lab on 12/17. Received health results on 12/20. Received breed, traits, and relatives on 12/21.
Question:	Has anyone compared results to wisdom panel? i am having a tough time trusting our wp results since they seem way off
Answer:	Yes I have! We have 2 rescue dogs, and We 100% definitively know the ancestry of one of our rescues but not the other. Our older rescue, Lily, is a Doberman-Lab (maternal doberman, paternal lab-retriever). Our other rescue is a mixed bag of cuteness--all we know for sure if she has some husky and some border collie. That being said, I wanted to compare Wisdom Panel and Embark, and since we knew what one of our furbabies is a doberman-lab, we thought she would be a great control for this experiment! I ordered Wisdom panel first (bc of its great reviews and more appealing price) and I was completely appalled and disappointed at the results for our doberman-lab. Her results came back as Alaskan Malamute + Poodle. I actually called to see if they mixed up her results with someone else's but customer service told me that it was impossible to do so lol! I loved Embark's results, and they actually tested her pretty accurately--It came back as Doberman-Lab Retreiver-Rottie (Rottie being minimal). I love the health results, they are so much more detailed compared to Wisdom Panel results and its worth the extra cost. As for our other mixed rescue dog, Wisdom Panel came back with a mix of 8 breeds and 20% 'undefined'. I was pretty disappointed with that and our results for her Embark test are pending.I did post to the Embark facebook group, as other ppl have, and many people have done a similar experiment between the 2 companies. It seems to be overwhelmingly pro-Embark, but I can understand that the price may be a turnoff. In my opinion, the price is worth it for embark, especially if you have health concerns.

Answer:	There are two and they are not really test strips. They are like a little brush type swab and both have to be used on the same dog. Using both strips helps to get enough cells to get a DNA. Not crazy over Wisdom Panel. This is the first time we tried Wisdom Panel. We usually use Embark.

Answer:	I used the little places in the sleeve to let them dry and I let them dry about an hour. The put them into the sleeve, unsealed and sent the whole thing back. I got got good results on all specimens

Answer:	Actually you should wait at least until the puppy is no longer nursing on the mom. That Can skew the results.

Answer:	One of my puppies results came back with 12.5% “breed groups”. If you want those specific breeds, they charge an additional $89. Says results in a couple days, I got them in a few seconds. So they obviously already had that info ready. Deceptive advertising to play with the results that way...
Question:	Will the test identify chubacabra dna
Answer:	Yes! The test results showed that my dog had 20% chupacabra DNA but it could be that my dog ate a chupacabra. I’m not 110% sure

Answer:	I went over my dog’s report and reviewed the many genetic factors that are tested. DM is listed as being tested for but there is no mention of SOD1 in the description. If it is found present there would almost surely be a more detailed explanation of the results.

Answer:	5Strands does test for food intolerances, which are imbalances in our pets diet or environment. These imbalances exhibit in symptoms such as hot spots, upset stomach, biting paws, constant scratching, etc. 5Strands does not test for immune system responses known as true allergies which require immediate medical action.
Question:	Do u have tests for multiple dogs? Or will I need 2 buy a different test 4 each dog? I have
Answer:	This is not a legitimate scientific test but uses a machine that just spits out a random list of foods. Don't waste your money, see a legitimate veterinarian for actual sensitivity testing.

Answer:	This test will give results for over 200 disease causing genetic mutations, unfortunately there is no way to know what to expect of a particular dog’s result without testing. Question:	Does it tell exactly what breed my mixed breed dog is composed of
Answer:	This test will tell you the breed or breeds in your dog plus the Genetic Age of your dog. If you don't want the Genetic Age you can order a regular DNA MY Dog breed test. This does the same thing as that test with the addition of genetic age. Thank you.
Question:	What does genetic age mean? Is it the same as physical age or something different
Answer:	The genetic age is the physical age vs the chronological age. So you may be 40 years old chronologically and if you are relatively healthy your genetic age would be about 40. Many dogs will report very close to their chronological age. If they have disease or a lot of physical stress they may report older.
Question:	You have to upload a picture? that seems sketchy that you’ll guess my dogs breeds based on looks and not dna. can i do this without uploading a photo
Answer:	You may be mixing us up with another company. We do not, nor have we ever, required a photo. You can send one or not, it is up to you. And if you want one you can also send it AFTER you get results and we will add it and re-send the results with the photo. We do not require one.

Answer:	Hello Lyn, There is no lab fee for the Breed Identification test. Simply order the kit, collect the sample, send it back in the pre-paid envelope and you will have the results in about 2 weeks!
Question:	How many inherited health diseases does it test for? And does it give results of color n coat details
Answer:	Hi Lisa, The Breed Identification test does not test for diseases or traits. The Geno Pet kit will test for breed id, diseases and traits or our Health Screen will test for just diseases and traits (over 200).
Question:	Will it test dogs from Puerto Rico
Answer:	I am pretty sure it doesn’t care where your dog is from, it tests the DNA. Now if, you are asking if, you get the results in Puerto Rico? If, you are able to get the kit from Amazon and then send it to Orivet with the samples from your dog, all you need is internet access after that, they send you an email and you go to the site and look at your results for your dog.

Question:	There are two swabs that come with the kit, so can we test two dogs at the same time or do two separate kits need to be purchased
Answer:	You will need a separate kit for each dog. The two swabs are to insure that a good sample is taken. We tested our two dogs using separate kits and were very happy with the results!
Question:	Does this test cover wolf
Answer:	The test does not cover wolf detection. Get a different test.
Question:	My dog just died, would it work to rehydrate his saliva in his water bowl and swab from there
Answer:	Sorry for your loss. I don't think this answer will help you now since it has been about 11 weeks since your original question and I'm not sure if the saliva DNA is still good after that long, But hopefully this may help someone else who has the same question about their deceased dog. On the DNAmydog.com website they now have a DNA test for deceased dogs for $157. They need anything that the dog chewed on or had oral contact with. chew toys, (unwashed) blankets they chewed on, toothbrush, etc.. Here's the link : http://dnamydog.com/dna-deceased-dogs.php You may want to call them (416-691-4160) just to be sure you can't still send them something and get some results.
Question:	How quickly do you get the results
Answer:	I submitted the sample on 4.29 and received the results 5.19. My puppy was a rescue, and on our first visit to the vet she guessed he was 8 weeks old and an Akita /Australian Shepherd mix. The Mars test confirmed that he was a first generation cross of those two breeds, so kudos to my vet! (Boo to the sociopath that left my perfect and gorgeous puppy in a dumpster.)
