Answer:	It's called a "bodkin" or ribbon puller. This is meant to look like an old Victorian sewing kit, and I think they must have been used to pull ribbons though lace or holes or something for decoration or drawstrings or something.

Answer:	I've used this I don't know how many times and the handle doesn't look like moving at all. My border collie has a long rough coat and it goes through it well with no problems. My dog is a bit of a nuisance with brushing but that has nothing to do with this rake. I think it would probably do a good job on any and all dogs.

My dogs race over to me when they see the shedmonster in my hand... One combing and they are addicted to it. I have a fine tooth sheding brush but is not as good in my opinion.

Answer:	This doesn't cut my Husky's hair. It just removes already falling/shedding hair.

Answer:	I would say dry. The fingers are like one side of a hair clipper. I was amazed at how much fur came out my dogs, one has 1/2-3/4" fur and the other has 1-1 1/2" fur. Handfuls with just a few strokes.
