User questions & answers
Question: | what blades come with clipper purchase |
Answer: | Honestly I would say it depends on the person and how your body reacts to things. Unfortunately there is no definite answer I can give to you. Your results might be different than mine but I would still encourage you to give these a try either way. I noticed results in a few days but like I mentioned previously everyone is different. |
Question: | I have standard poodles, who have gotten matted. Will these clippers work on that type of thick coat? Cheaper clippers are useless |
Answer: | Stearate |
Question: | Do the blades get hot fast,I have seen this mentioned on other less known sites |
Answer: | Hi Deborah, Our probiotics don't need to be refrigerated because it's "freeze-dried", freeze-drying helps protect probiotics viability. Also, we used a technique called "Microencapsulation", this is a process in which tiny particles or droplets are surrounded by a coating to give small capsules, of many useful properties. In general, it is used to incorporate food ingredients, enzymes, cells or other materials on a micrometric scale. Storing in a cool, dry place is a standard labeling practice to avoid excessive heat. Hope that helps! Kind regards, Melissa |
Question: | I have an AUSTRALIAN labradoodle with a wavy coat. I'm considering these clippers for home grooming. What else to get in addition to the clippers |

Question: | Can I use pet grooming clippers on humans |
Answer: | You can but the lengths are different as far as the blades go. I’d just get human clippers instead of spending more for animal clippers. |
Question: | Will this work on a large blue merle Australian Shepherd? His hair is very thick |
Answer: | It can work. But get hot after use a while . Be careful the hot blade will hurt the dog skin . I tried to shave my long hair poodle Also feel too hot of the blade |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this clipper quiet |
Answer: | Yes. My dogs don't seem to notice when the clippers are on |
Question: | will this work on Newfoundland dog with a double coat and under matt |
Answer: | Yes! We have a Great Pyranees and and Akbash. They both have the double coat and undercoat and it works great. You may do some trimming up with scissors but for the most part this trimmer does it all. It is quiet. Has 2 speeds. does not get hot to quickly. You can get the different blades to do the matted areas and undercoat. The blades are very easy. Just a press of the button and pops out and change and snap, your ready to go again. Get the #3, # 7 and it comes with a #10. Get a can of spray coolant you can spray on the blades as your grooming if it gets hot. Hope it works for you! |
Question: | Does it come with a 10blade included |
Answer: | Yes, our Andis ProClip AG2 did come with the #10 blade included. We have a Goldendoodle, and would advise also purchasing the inexpensive Andis Chrome Comb pack of 8 magnetic clip on attachments that give you a wide variety of easy to switch sizes: #0 (5/8"), #2 (3/8"), #1 (1/2"), A(3/4"), B(13/16"), C (7/8"), E(1") and F(1-1/4"). This increases the utility of the #10 blade that came with the trimmer, and has given us everything we need to give our "Dood" regular trims at home. |
Question: | I noticed there are two different ones here, the black one has less spm than the red one - does this keep it cooler? does it still cut well |
Answer: | Get the red one; it stays cool and cuts better, too. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you buy different blades? i do not like the combs. i have a german shepherd/ husky/wire hair cairn terrier mix. the combs leave a comb look to her |
Answer: | You can buy different blades as long as they are Andis blades. Nothing else seems to fit it. |
Question: | would these work for a 70 lb border collie with a very fine, thick undercoat |
Answer: | I am not sure but I used this for my 30kg golden retriever (also thick undercoat but not so fine hair) n it works great. My mom enjoys shaving my golden's hair with it to different style; one day lion, another time bart simpson, sometimes skunk. I bought a few clipper head to vary the length depending on the weather. My golden seems to b comfortable too. He falls asleep during haircuts. |
Question: | How does this clipper (#21485) differ from the Andis clipper |
Answer: | From the Andis company, I was told that the 21485 was blue and the 65785 was purple. I am going to check to make sure that they both are detachable blades. That is one of the differences I have found with other Andis razors. But, I believe that they are identical. Oh, I forgot, they both have steel blades and not the Ceramic. To order one with a ceramic #10 blade included, it is Andis 21420. The identical clipper MGB2 model number is the same for all 3 of these razors. |
Question: | what blades does it come with and do you need a special oil for it |
Answer: | Blades are 3/8, 1/4, 5/8, 3/4, 1/2 comes with oil. Or can purchase human hair clipper oil. I love these for my long haired cats. Quite. |
Question: | why are people wanting the ceramic blades over the metal |
Answer: | I've never used ceramic blades yet, but it is my understanding ceramic blades stays sharper longer and does not get as hot as the steel blades. You still have to use the coolant spray on both types of blades. Hope this helps. |
Question: | what is the strokes per minute |
Answer: | 2700 strokes per minute. |
Question: | I have a shih tzu. What size additional blade do I need to order for a longer winter cut? The #10 blade is way too short |
Answer: | Kit contains plastic parts to adjust length. So I think you don't need another blade. |
Question: | how would it work on a standard poodle |
Answer: | I have a standard poodle, and it works wonderfully! This is the third or fourth pair of clippers I've tried, and it's the only one that worked at all. I don't use the guards on it though, as they tend to get stuck in the curls. If you were diligent and combed them all through thoroughly, then it might work, but I generally just buzz him down really short for the summer. Hope that helps! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with any blades? Which blades do I need to groom Yorkies |
Answer: | Mine came with the T84 blade. Andis has different size blades that you can interchange. Not sure about Yorkies I use mine on horses. |
Question: | Can I interchange this blade with #10 oster clipper blades that I already have |
Answer: | Yes you can they fit on just like the oyster clippers |
Question: | What is the best blade for an extremely thick and long undercoat? I have a rough collie and the blades that came with it don't work well at all |
Answer: | It should work fine on that type of collie, I would try a 10 blade. And make sure they are washed/dried and brushed out before you clip them. The 10 blade will make it short though. |
Question: | Could I use these to "shape" the body of a Bichon Frise ? Will they remove the top layer of the coat cleanly |
Answer: | The blades are fairly wide. I use mine to body clip my horse, but i've also shaved my friends cat(a Maine Coon with hair mats), so I'd say yes, they're fantastic clippers, i've never had a problem with them, just keep them clean and oiled. If you're wanting to do detail work, they're fairly wide, but they cut clean and even. they run quietly too, and don't get overheated too fast. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Groomer attached the comb for me but I can't get them on & off. I know there is a spring but I can't get it to move, Can anyone please help |
Answer: | To put it on: Insert the comb from the top edge of the clipper/trimmer, and then pull it down to extend the spring to snap in and ON. To remove or take off the comb: Push the comb down and pull OUT from the bottom, and then pull UPWARD to completely remove it. |
Question: | I'm new to grooming (i.e. non-professional). My clipper came with a #10 blade - is it better/safer to buy these comb guards versus individual blades |
Answer: | Blades are more dangerous. It depends on your skill, because with or without guard combs you can still cut the dog. As a non-professional it will be less risk to learn with guard combs first. Blades alone need to be checked for the temperature and cooled frequently throughout the groom. A #10 blade is NOT a surgical blade, but it does leave the hair extremely short (1/16 in.), a length short enough to leave razor bumps and ingrown hairs. Its not reccomended to shave a pet down to this length all over in most circumstances. Depending on the coat, individual blade may leave a more polished look, but you can achieve a decent haircut on most breeds using a #10 blade and a variety of guard combs. |
Question: | Will the attachments fit my Andis 2 speed Detachable plus + Model AG |
Answer: | These do NOT FIT Andis Super AG2 2-Speed Detachable Blade Clipper, Professional Animal Grooming, AG-2 (22235). I bought them from the recommendation and am returning now! |
Question: | I got the Andis AGC 2-Speed clipper with a #10 blade, and this does NOT fit??? What am I doing wrong here |
Answer: | I also was ready to return these. I had read these answers but still could not see how to attach the combs. As I was preparing the return authorization I got them out again and only then did I realize that the metal piece will slide up and down, so after you hook it on the bottom part of the clipper, you then have to exert great force to move the comb up and over the blade. It is a very tight fit and does ensure that the comb will not come off during use. It would be very helpful if the package came with instructions, as it is not intuitive, even after I did what I thought was thorough research. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would the medium clippers work on lab |
Answer: | Yes, I would recommend them for a larger breed dog such as a Labrador Retriever, but not so much for smaller breeds. I purchased them for my 25 lb Cocker Spaniel/Lhasa Apso mix & they were big for him, in my opinion. As far as quality goes, however, I feel these are good clippers. |
Question: | Would the medium clippers work on lab |
Answer: | I have Belgian Tervurens and it works fine on them with room to spare for a thicker nail |
Question: | Would the medium size work for cane corso? it a large breed dog, thank in advance |
Answer: | No, unless nails are smaller size and not thick. I purchased the Large size nail trimmer to use at work, I'm a dog groomer. Large isn't excessively big and works for Labradors, Great danes etc. |
Question: | Would these clippers work well on a beagle sized dog |
Answer: | These are really good clippers, sharp with no splitting of the nails . They have a large cutting surface so I would be careful using on a medium size dog like a beagle. I use on all three of my collies which range in size from 82lbs. to 61lbs. |

Question: | What is the return policy |
Answer: | sure |
Question: | Is this clipper good for thick curly coats, like bichon frise or poodles |
Answer: | Yes. This clipper will work but you need to make sure you are using the correct blade. Here are some blades to use. Remember the lower the blade number the longer the cut, the wider the gap between the teeth on the blade to go through the hair/fur. 64080# 7 skip tooth 1/8inch will leave the hair choppy looking but will help with the thick hair, will have to go over the hair again with the regular #7 blade which is 64121 finish cut 7 blade. 64079 5 skip tooth ¼ inch finishing blade 64122 5FC blade 1/4 64090 4skip tooth blade 3/8 inch finishing blade 64123 #4FC 64133 3 ¾ skip tooth blade leaves hair ½ inch finish blade 64135 3 ¾ FC blade You can just use the FC blades but just in case the dog is matted I would suggest to go through them with the skip took. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Blade drives |
Answer: | Unsure of you question, but if you if you notice that your blade is dragging through the coat while clipping, or the clipper isn’t cutting as clean as before and you see lines in the coat, you may need to replace the blade drive. First, always make sure you clean off all debris from your blade and use Andis Oil to lubricate it, then check to see if you still are seeing the same issues. If you do, then you will need to replace your blade drive. Blade drives are a common maintenance point on any pair of clippers and are typically replaced every four to six months or sooner based on the amount of clipping. Note that your blade drive will wear out faster if you clip a dog with a dirty or matted coat. It’s recommended that you always bathe, dry and brush out the dog first before you begin clipping to ensure the best groom and less wear on your clipper. |
Question: | Which guards fit these clippers best |
Answer: | any of the combs that attach over the detachable blade properly |

User questions & answers
Question: | how many watts is the motor of this clipper |
Answer: | Hello ! All I know is : Clipper Motor Type: Rotary Number of Speed: 2 Strokes per Minute (SPM): 2700 / 3400 spm Volts: 120 V Frequency: 60 Hz |
Question: | which model and blades would work best for grooming our Bichons |
Answer: | I bought this model and I use the #10 blade for face, the special "foot blade" for feet and #7 if I want to shave them down. If you don't want to shave them close with the #7, use the #10 with one of the guards over it. (I bought the set of attachable guards that allow the coat to be cut to different lengths.) |
Question: | I have a chow/golden retriever mix that needs a butt cut. Her butt is REALLY fluffy. Will this cut through all that hair without overheating |
Answer: | I have a hairy, double coated mutt that showed up a few years ago and because her hair is long and fine, it picks up every burr in our fields. And she is why I bought the heavy duty Andis. I use a #3 3/4 skip tooth, cuts about 1/2" (you may want to get one that cuts 3/4" or more, but the skip tooth makes for a more layered look than the full tooth blades. Get the blade size you want but I would suggest the skip tooth blade for those thick coats. You may have to stop for awhile if the blade get too hot, especially to begin with. I cut my dog every couple mo nths so it doesn't take so much effort each time. You might want to do it outside also. We live in the country and I just let the wind blow the hair into the fields-easy clean up! |
Question: | What makes pet clippers different from human hair clippers? I have a cheap Conair that works on me but it won't work on the cat... at all, not even a little. :o |
Answer: | They work waaaaay better. I think they have a faster clipping speed, so they will go through much thicker hair. I tried using human clippers on my dog...they got stuck in her hair immediately and didn't work at all. I purchased the Andis clippers and they go right through her hair, like a hot knife through butter. |

It stays cool, unlike the magnetic motor design. Forget about loud magnetic motor clippers that bother your animals.
How do I remove matted fur with a clipper?
Removing mats can be achieved by using the Andis ProClip Super 2-Speed Detachable Blade Clipper paired with a #10 blade. For a large to medium size dog with a lot of thick fur, you will need to invest in other blades. If you are planning to shave your dog, get a couple of #7FC blades, #64121.

How do I care for and clean and oil my blades?
Blades should be oiled before, during and after each use. If your clipper blades leave streaks or slow down, it's a sure sign they need to be oiled. Start by turning off the clipper and brushing fragments of hair from the blade with a blade brush. Clean and disinfect blades by using CoolCare Plus. Use the 5-point oiling system: 3 drops across the teeth of the blade and 1 drop on each back rail. After oiling, turn on and let run for 5-10 seconds to disperse the oil. Turn clipper off and then wipe off any excess oil.
