Answer:	Hi there! I'm not familiar with cockatiels. I use the cage for my finger monkey and he's only 5-6" tall. It is very spacious and easy to clean with one large door in the front, 2 side feeding doors that are quite big and then the open top completely opens. Hope this helps.

Answer:	We made one out of an old cotton bed sheet. It is 3 sided, when the bird gets loud we turn the open end towards the wall. Mostly we pull it back half way.

Things I Wish I Had Known Before I Got Chickens

In the hope of sparing some growing pains for those about to embark on chicken keeping, I asked my Facebook fans to help compile a list of things we wish we had known before getting our first chickens.

Do your homework chickens are a commitment. They can live 8, 10, 15 years or longer. Don’t assume that it’s legal just because others in the neighborhood are doing it. Research permit requirements, flock limits, and rooster restrictions. Don’t be afraid to petition local government to change the law. A hen does not necessarily lay an egg every day. Many factors play a role in this—some you can influence, others . . . not so much. When purchasing female chicks, remember that vent sexing (see in chapter 5) is only 90 percent accurate. Have a plan for roosters that cannot be kept. Do it right the first time—don’t cut corners. Coop placement is important—shade in summer, dry location in rainy climates. 'People-friendly' coops and runs are easier to clean and maintain. Install removable roosts and droppings boards for easier cleaning. (10) Their habitat will never be complete. (11) Buy or build a bigger coop than you think you need. Chicken math is real. (12) Buy from a reputable, National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP)–certified breeder or hatchery—not an auction or swap. (13) Chicken wire is not predator-proof—use hardware cloth. (14) A hen’s most productive egg-laying years are her first two. After that, production declines. (15) Chicken scratch is not chicken feed. (16) Chickens will take dust baths in the location you least want them to. (17) Do not underestimate how much you will love them and how much they will change your life. Question:	Would this be a good cage for two cockatiels? They will be coming from the same clutch
Answer:	No it is not a very safe birdcage for Parakeets because it comes apart way too easily and the Parakeets can very easily escape. My female Parakeet escaped the very first day I put her in it and it came apart on me too. So I had no other choice, but to throw the birdcage away and buy them another birdcage through Petsmart. I don't recommend this birdcage at all. Please don't buy it. Cause you'd just be wasting your hard earned money like I did.

Answer:	Please don't worry, fruitflies cannot fit through the mesh.
Question:	How do you clean? We are currently using a fish tank and there is a lot of feces to clean everyday. This seems difficult to do daily with this
Answer:	We keep a few caterpillars that we find on milkweed plants (monarch butterflies.) We don't clean until all are released and have become butterflies. About once every 2 or 3 weeks. We also keep them outside on our deck. For cleaning a little baking soda on a sponge for the bottom and rinse with water. Do it gently. For an aquarium I never tried it for catetpillars but the same procedure should help. If you keep cut plants and leaves stuck in a small flower pot it makes for easier removal and cleaning.

Answer:	I always raise the caterpillars in this habitat and transfer to the pavilion habitat (very inexpensive) on Amazon. I would say five butterflies would fit comfortably in this habitat. Hope that helps!
