Answer:	There is no grate on top of the tray. So if your animal goes potty they can poop and walk around in it. We use it for a very spoiled bunny and add bedding to the tray. She has a litter box in the corner and does most of her stuff in that box so poop everywhere is not an issue. We love this cage for our bunny. Very happy with the purchase.

What to Feed Your Chinchilla

The chinchilla has a very sensitive digestive system which has evolved through the frugal high fibre diet of grasses, fruits, leaves, roots and stems.

Your Chinchilla will need a balanced diet and fresh hay every day to provide the fibre, vitamins and minerals it requires for good health. It will may also need a gnawing block and safe twigs to chew to help wear down its teeth.

A Chinchilla diet must be very low in fat and they should never have sunflower seeds or peanuts in their diet. They can easily become overweight if they have too much fat and over the long term, it can actually be fatal.

Chinchillas need feeding every day (in the morning and in the evening). A good quality, heavy, earthenware bowl keeps food dry and clean and prevents the Chinchilla from tipping the food. Bowls must be cleaned after every use.

Answer:	Timothy complete definitely. Any person who offers pellets with treats or something that doesn't look like brown little pellets is bad for the chinchilla. This is because the chinchilla will dig through their pellets to eat the treats instead of actually getting the proper nutrients

Answer:	I had the same issue when it just arrived. I almost returned the whole package. Try shaking and rubbing the pellets so that they start smelling a bit. You may also try not giving her alternatives, but be careful that she doesn't starve.
