Answer:	There is phosphorus in meat. Crave is a high meat food. So it stands to reason that this food contains more phosphorus than a low meat cat food. If your cat has CKD I might suggest another brand. Low phosphorus food isn’t good for a healthy cat. There has been nothing showing that a high meat or high phosphorus diet causes CKD in cats.

Answer:	Per the pet food reviewer online, Crave contains 23-25% carbs which is far lower than foods with grains.

Answer:	I hope you didn't switch your 14 year old cat to this high, high protein diet, without first running lab work through your vet. High protein is GREAT for young cats, but as they age, their kidneys wear out. A very high protein diet for an aging cat can be highly counterintuitive because in some cats, it makes the kidneys work TOO hard. Another issue is that super pure, "health" food cat food is often rejected in taste by elderly cats, and it's very important to maintain caloric intake, especially in aging and overweight cats. In some cats, suddenly not eating enough due to not liking a new diet can cause a nightmare mess with the liver called feline lipidosis (you can google it...). It can also cause gastro-intestinal issues, which is a fancy way of saying she can get big time diarrhea. At 14, if she's thriving and happy, I'd say leave it be. As cats age, it's important to keep food interesting and palatable for them, as they get even pickier. So I would also consider adding wet food - it's a great way to keep them hydrated, among many other benefits. Best of luck - happy/healthy at 14 is thanks to great pet ownership, too! :)
Question:	Is this for diabetic cats
Answer:	Catinfo.org has some good information on feeding diabetic cats. Diabetic cats should eat foods that are less than 10% carbs. That's hard to find. The owner of that site is a vet and recommends not feeding dry at all, but while transitioning she uses Evo which is around 5% carbs. Maybe 9%. I forget now. That said, my diabetic cat was a dry food junkie. He wouldn't eat at one point so I had to find a dry that wouldn't raise his blood sugar. I ended up using Young Again Pet Foods Zero Carb dry food. It's 0.4% carbs. He had no sugar spikes while eating it. He even went into remission (no insulin) while eating. It's expensive and special order but cost pennies next to the cost of insulin.

I have since upgraded to Zero Grains Whitefish Recipe, but I saved the label from the Salmon and Lentils Recipe to show my Vet, so I'm looking at it, and there are no probiotics. However, if this is important to you, Blue Buffalo Freedom Dry Cat food is loaded with probiotics. It's expensive, but well worth the price. It's too expensive for my budget with as many animals as I have, but you may be able to afford it. It really is a superior pet food. I used to use it, but cannot anymore. Answer:	As of June 2018 Chewy.com has a 15 lb bag for $32, Petsmart for the same and I also checked petco.com, same price for the 15 lb bag. I can't find it much cheaper even with auto delivery options.
Question:	What is the difference between this product and Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grain Free Dry Cat Food, Chicken Recipe, 12-Pound Bag
Answer:	This is a chicken and brown rice blend and it is a 15 pound bag. Since it contains brown rice, barley, and oatmeal, I don't think it's technically "grain-free". However it does not contain any corn, wheat, or soy products.The ingredient list does include different veggies (sweet potato, peas, etc) as well as antioxidant-rich fruit (pomegranate, blueberries). There are a variety of supplemental vitamins added, too. As with all Blue Buffalo products (I think), the first ingredient listed is meat (in this case deboned chicken) so that constitutes the greatest proportion of all the ingredients listed. It also notes that it doesn't contain any chicken/poultry by-product meals.

Answer:	The chicken variety is 366 calories per cup. A good size cat will eat ½ to 1 cup per day. Perhaps 200-300 calories on average. I would recommend a high protein/low carb food instead for feline weight loss. My cats seem to find high protein foods more satisfying but eat less of it overall. Physiologically, cats can't lose weight quickly in a safe manner, so it's probably best to make small reductions and weigh him frequently, then readjust.

Question:	How long shold you keep your cat on kitten food? This is my first time having cats, so I'm not sure when to switch to the adult food
Answer:	We were told by our vet that we could feed kitten food until the kittens were one year old. We had several adult cats in our house. We found that as early as 8 months some of our kittens adjusted to adult food. The Hills Science Diet for kittens (Original is on the package) gave our kittens a wonderful beginning. Their coats were so very shiny. They received the right vitamins in Hill's Science Diet for Kittens. I would highly recommend it from 8 weeks on until a year if possible.
