Answer:	The chicken variety is 366 calories per cup. A good size cat will eat ½ to 1 cup per day. Perhaps 200-300 calories on average. I would recommend a high protein/low carb food instead for feline weight loss. My cats seem to find high protein foods more satisfying but eat less of it overall. Physiologically, cats can't lose weight quickly in a safe manner, so it's probably best to make small reductions and weigh him frequently, then readjust.

Answer:	We were told by our vet that we could feed kitten food until the kittens were one year old. We had several adult cats in our house. We found that as early as 8 months some of our kittens adjusted to adult food. The Hills Science Diet for kittens (Original is on the package) gave our kittens a wonderful beginning. Their coats were so very shiny. They received the right vitamins in Hill's Science Diet for Kittens. I would highly recommend it from 8 weeks on until a year if possible. Answer:	Reading the nutrients label would answer your question. In a nutshell, "Indoor" has double the fiber, and therefore lower density, which is why a bag of a given weight is almost twice as large as a bag of the "regular" product. You will also find that the cat's stool is larger and less dense. It's supposed to support bowel motility in presumably less-active indoor cats, but it's hard to see how increasing fiber is not a good thing - for any cat.

Answer:	Does it smell different now? They are so sensitive to aroma. I mix the hairball control with the weight management for my cats. They kept eating it as usual when it changed. There are a few formulas also now , the regular, the light, the urinary, all hairball control formulas. Good luck!
Question:	what is the ash content
Answer:	I do not use Science diet any longer as I do not feel it is a good brand and you must look for the lowest ash content in a food as ash can damage cats organs. I use Fromms, which is made in the USA with FDA approved food consumed by humans and my cats have not vomited since I have started using this food.
Question:	If I switch to this from the hills light (not hairball) do I still need to do a slow introduction
Answer:	Yes, I recommend doing a gradual introduction even within the same brand. Doesn't have to be prolonged - if you want to switch over completely it shouldn't take more than 10 days or so. My cat actually does best with a mixture of the light formula with the hairball formula, about 60% light - 40% hairball gives her all the extra fiber she needs and maintains her weight. I buy a big bag of each and make up a batch of the mixed food to store. Willow is 11 years old now and thriving on that mix for many years so I'm happy with it. :)
Question:	What's the difference between the light and regular hairball cat food? I'm looking for whichever is strongest
Answer:	The difference is the pork fat content. I found my cats cannot tolerate the light food. They started to have very dry itchy skin causing them to constantly wash themselves to the point they were going bald in spots. I went back to the regular hairball food and the problem went away. Cats need the fats for their fur and skin.

Answer:	I hold them vertical...with the tab facing down. Barely pull the tab slowly, and all the juice will squirt out into the bowl. Then when I get through dumping it into the bowl, I flick the container several times with my index finger, to get all the juices out. My cat loves licking all the juices first...then he goes back into his room and eats the food later in the day!

Answer:	I honestly didn’t notice. I just know that it is one good all three of mine will eat and not get sick on. Did you ask the company??

Answer:	I used to order it all the time. It was always fresh and good as far as expiration date. My cats love it. If it wasn't good. Your feline friend will definitely let you know.
Question:	How do you open these bags open without cutting them open? It seems like there should be an easy way but i can't figure it out
Answer:	Only way I have figured is to cut it open. I fold it down and use a metal binder clip to keep it closed and fresh. I use a cup to scoop it out as I have not found a good way to cut the bag so that I can pour it, since they seal the bag so extensively.

Question:	phosphorous content? It is no where on the package
Answer:	There is phosphorus in meat. Crave is a high meat food. So it stands to reason that this food contains more phosphorus than a low meat cat food. If your cat has CKD I might suggest another brand. Low phosphorus food isn’t good for a healthy cat. There has been nothing showing that a high meat or high phosphorus diet causes CKD in cats.
Question:	Why does it say no chicken meal in one of the photos, and yet the second ingredient is Chicken Meal for the salmon & ocean fish flavor
Answer:	The picture says no chicken BY-PRODUCT meal. Chicken meal is real chicken, and is safe and nutritious for your cat. By-products are not, and should be avoided.
Question:	What percentage is carbohydrates
Answer:	Per the pet food reviewer online, Crave contains 23-25% carbs which is far lower than foods with grains.
Question:	who makes this cat food crave
Answer:	The manufacturer is Mars Pet Foods. Crave is a pretty old brand that disappeared for a while and came back as a grain free line of pet foods. It's pretty good stuff too. My very allergic cat doesn't get sick from this and the cost is reasonable. I can't tell you much more.
