Cost more has some starch but they eat less not having blood sugar spikes and drops. It’s hard when I put them on diet and myself lol

Answer:	I fed my two kittens kitten food for about four months or so, but they really didn't like it. So I tried them on Beyond Chicken formula, which is what I'd been giving my other two cats, aged seven and five. The kittens loved it. When I looked at the nutritional breakdown it was fine for kittens. I still give them a can of Petguard every evening, but I am very happy with Beyond, and it's much easier because all four cats eat it.

Answer:	Hi, not sure about the carbs but it should be low. There are no grains in the formula and what caught my eye was 40% protein and 18% fat. The fats will turn to sugars but doesn't seem to affect my diabetic cat.
Question:	Is it smart to start an old cat on this high a level of protein? My 14 yr old is very heathy but has been eating mainly Purina One for the last 5 yrs
Answer:	I hope you didn't switch your 14 year old cat to this high, high protein diet, without first running lab work through your vet. High protein is GREAT for young cats, but as they age, their kidneys wear out. A very high protein diet for an aging cat can be highly counterintuitive because in some cats, it makes the kidneys work TOO hard. Another issue is that super pure, "health" food cat food is often rejected in taste by elderly cats, and it's very important to maintain caloric intake, especially in aging and overweight cats. In some cats, suddenly not eating enough due to not liking a new diet can cause a nightmare mess with the liver called feline lipidosis (you can google it...). It can also cause gastro-intestinal issues, which is a fancy way of saying she can get big time diarrhea. At 14, if she's thriving and happy, I'd say leave it be. As cats age, it's important to keep food interesting and palatable for them, as they get even pickier. So I would also consider adding wet food - it's a great way to keep them hydrated, among many other benefits. Best of luck - happy/healthy at 14 is thanks to great pet ownership, too! :)
Question:	Is this for diabetic cats
Answer:	Catinfo.org has some good information on feeding diabetic cats. Diabetic cats should eat foods that are less than 10% carbs. That's hard to find. The owner of that site is a vet and recommends not feeding dry at all, but while transitioning she uses Evo which is around 5% carbs. Maybe 9%. I forget now. That said, my diabetic cat was a dry food junkie. He wouldn't eat at one point so I had to find a dry that wouldn't raise his blood sugar. I ended up using Young Again Pet Foods Zero Carb dry food. It's 0.4% carbs. He had no sugar spikes while eating it. He even went into remission (no insulin) while eating. It's expensive and special order but cost pennies next to the cost of insulin.

Answer:	Hi Rekha, Sorry to say, Rachael Ray cat foods contain no probiotics. I have since upgraded to Zero Grains Whitefish Recipe, but I saved the label from the Salmon and Lentils Recipe to show my Vet, so I'm looking at it, and there are no probiotics. However, if this is important to you, Blue Buffalo Freedom Dry Cat food is loaded with probiotics. It's expensive, but well worth the price. It's too expensive for my budget with as many animals as I have, but you may be able to afford it. It really is a superior pet food. I used to use it, but cannot anymore. It is my understanding that ALL cat dry cat foods contain ash, sadly, cos ash contributes to urinary infections in males (primarily.) However, Richard, here's the good news, the premium, more expensive cat foods contain far less ash than the commercial, cheaper cat foods. So, it will be a wiser choice to feed your cats a more expensive dry food than cheaper brands. Believe me, Richard, you'll save on vet bills if you invest in a premium dry cat food for your feline babies. This WILL LOWER their ash intake. Thank you for asking. Answer:	Yes you can. When weening my kitten from milk to hard food that is exactly what I would do. warm his milk up very little and let the hard food soften a little. then we substituted with water instead of the cat milk. for your cat just use a little water.

Answer:	Chicken beak, feet, bones, guts (stuff like that), that's what chicken by-product is.
Question:	What's the difference saying it's for indoor cats? Same as others but saying it's different to make more money
Answer:	Indoor cats need more fiber and protein than outside cats! They don't have access to prey and things that would prevent hairballs. As for making more money...there are no preservatives so better quality ingredients are used.
Question:	Is this grain free
Answer:	The first ingredient is chicken-by-product meal (whatever that is). It is not grain-free. It contains corn meal, soy flour, and brewer's rice. Cats have no nutritional requirement for grain of any sort. They are just fillers. If you can afford it (we have 5 cats), find a grain-free product to feed your cat(s).
