Question:	Anyone else notice that recent capsules/powder have unpleasant smell

Ordered 2 bottles back in Jan. 2017 (both with EXP date on Jan 2020), one bottle was ok but the secomd one had a very strong distinct stale smell right as soon as I opened it; gave it to my cat anyway, less than a week after he developed a bad itchy reaction all over his head to the point I had to take him to the vet where we also compared the Cosequin bottles and the vet agreed that mine had a very bad smell. I've been using Cosequin for about 2 years, pills have a bit of smell but not that strong and aweful smell I experienced last; cannot return it cause, by the time I opened the second bottle 30 days has gone by :-( . Answer:	I called the company (888-886-6442) because my 16 yr. old cat also has kidney issues and I was told by them that it is fine to given them the Cosequin. Their safety studies have shown no problems. FYI, my cat has shown good improvement with the product.

Then I thoroughly mix it with 1/2 package of Delectables Bisque, Senior 15 years+ for Digestion and Kidney Support (Tuna & Chicken flavor). My 18 year old cat is extremely finicky but she will eat this combination. She leaves the chunky portions of the Bisque and I wonder if she can't lap it on her tongue. Initially I gave her the Bisque and added the Cosequin a week later. That little bugger could smell the Cosequin and refused to eat it. I kept putting it out and I think she liked the Bisque so much that she caved and started eating it with the Cosequin.

Answer:	L-Lysine, which was reccomended by my vet is the main ingredient although at a much lower amount then what my vet had suggested. It only has 250 mg and the stuff my vet sold was more expensive but also contained a lot more L-lysing. I thought it helped her eye problems at first but now I wondering if the issue is more seasonal. The other ingredients are chicken liver flavor, starch,water, soy lecithin,canola oil, brewer's yeast, ground malted barley, ground rye groats, oat meal, calcium sulfate, maltodextrin, sodium alginate, sorbic acid(preservative), propionic acid(Preservatiive), and mixed tocopherol blend(Preservative) Good Luck!

Answer:	To answer your question..yes. It's the same supplement that people take. You can buy people L-Lysine, it's probably cheaper, however, L-Lysine tastes very salty and once I found out what it taste like I bought this for my cat. My cat loved this and took it without any problem. With the regular L-Lysine tablets for people I had to crush the tablet and then put it in wet food. It still tasted salty. It was something I wouldn't eat and wouldn't make my cat eat either. This supplement is a treat for my cat now.

Answer:	250 mg of lysine per chew. This is the amount recommended as a maintenance dose. If cat has active symptoms (runny eyes, etc,) I give 2 treats a day. There are 60 treats per bag, enough for at least a month or two, depending on your cat's needs. I break into three smaller pieces and casually leave on the floor, as my suspicious cat won't take treats from my hand. Lysine really works, and my cat won't take regular lysine powder in her food. I break each treat into 3 pieces so that my cat will eat them (he gets 2 treats a day).Let me share my latest brainstorm with you though: I got so aggravated at the rock-hardness of these treats that I picked up a clean spray bottle (filled with clean water), spritzed it a couple of times inside the treat bag and quickly sealed it up. The next day, the treats were moist and soft! I still break them into pieces, but all of a sudden, my cat loves them! The treats have not gotten moldy or anything, but just be careful how much water you spray into the bag. I also gave the bag a shake after sealing it, just to spread the moisture around.
