| Answer: | my big guy who disabled gets in it all the time he about 14 lbs but long in length, i got him the senior version as he has trouble with balance and his back knees. its a big snug for him but he doesn't seem to mind. every now than i tighten up the screws - as i have 8 cats and they all LOVE these, i own 3 and just bought 2 more of the senior ones. --- now our 20 lbs cat does get in this and likes it, but you have to tighen up the screws a bit more frequently i used monster glue on one of the units and will use on the other next time as it helped a lot havent had any issues with topple over or breaking , and the stairs on the senior one is spaced well for all my seniors and my 1 disabled cat, and they are wide enough for my disbaled big guy which as been an issue with other "cat stairs" cause he so long and not as agile due to his knees |

The side pedestal can be a wee bit flimsy but should hold either cat fine and so long as the right cushion is in the bottom part of the castle (the smaller one) your 9 pound cat will fit fine and your 14 pound cat should fit, if a bit snugly. Otherwise, the castle is very nice. |

I would not wash the stretch formed shell that goes over the base in the washing machine, although I think it would be fine to hand wash, and drip dry. I have just periodically vacuumed the shell with a vacuum hose & brush attachment, and spot cleaned as needed. |

Turn the cat bed over, you will see a lip around the botter (similar to a fitted sheet), that goes around the upper platform so the bed is steady. One of my cats likes to lay on the upper platform without the bed. The other one lays in the bed near the window and watches the world go by. One of my cats leaps from the couch to the tree (about 4' away) and there's not so much as a wobble. Both of my kitties love this tree and use every part - the top bed is a big hit with both of them, the younger one is always in the tunnel batting the hanging balls and they both use the posts and base for scratching. I'd highly recommend this tree. |
