Answer:	This is product is Magnesium Chloride which is more gentle than other melting products on most surfaces. However, it is not ideal to put any melting material on your shingles or gutters. If you have an ice dam, you can put the product in a nylon stocking and lay that on the roof to create a drainage channel.

Answer:	Yes..I push ...just like a Regular shovel scooping snow. I’m a 60 year old, full time care giver and shoveling snow her in SD is no easy task.. great little shovel..if found it was very easy assembly

Answer:	I have both. The 13 is superior. It has a much larger diameter auger than this one. This one is belt driven and fairly high RPM, but extremely small diameter auger. The scraper blade on this one is SUPER sharp to the point that it catches on wood by digging into it. At least compared to the 13 which glides over pallets and other wooden surfaces. The 13 has a gearbox driven brushed motor instead of belt. The 13 is louder because of it, but the torque provided by the gear reduction along with the larger auger makes it the better machine. It's a little heaver, and the 11 has a nicer handle with less sharp edges. Most people will use gloves with these though so that isn't a big deal. I buy these shovels for the batteries when they are on sale, so I have quite a few of them. The 13 is my pick for sure. The 11 spins super fast but halts almost instantly when put against crusty or heavy snow. The 13 is much harder to stall. The main difference Snow Joe wants you to be aware of is simply that the 13SS clears a 13" path, while the 11SS-XR clears an 11" path. The XR simply means that it has Snow Joe's largest 24v LTE battery at 5.0AH. Why? I have absolutely no idea. I only use 2.0 AH batteries on my shovels and the larger batteries for my sunjoe chainsaw, mower, and snowjoe 18" snow blower.

Answer:	I would not use it on loose gravel as it will more than likely cause the blade to bind up. You will also be throwing gravel 20ft. in front of you.

Answer:	The auger blades are made of ABS plastic but they never touch the surface under the shovel. There is an ABS plastic scraper under the unit that scrapes the snow up and forces it into the auger blade. It's exactly the same thing as using a regular plastic snow shovel. So if your deck handles a normal shovel this won't damage it either.

Answer:	I used it on my wood deck and wooden handicap ramp last winter and I have not seen any adverse effects. Seems to be very safe.

Answer:	I am not sure on composite decks, but the salt did not damage our wooden decks.

Answer:	Used only on the brick stoop and the bluestone walkway and only for a week yet or so no damage is seen so far. I bought it for pet and plant safety as rock salt damages the plantings and rock salt also brings larger beasts and other animals to lick it up

Answer:	My dog did fine with it. I just put on a bit of my porch and stairs down to yard. BUT what did make my dog limp was once he got on the icy yard. THEN he wasn't able to stand long enough to do what we went out for. Pets can get ice burn just like people. Imagine if we had to go out barefoot? Even though the skin on their pads may be thicker, still really cold and the warmth of their paws with the ice...not good. During really icy freezing time, I cut up squares of garbage bag big enough to wrap around his pads and secure with a rubber band. It's only for the like TWO mins he goes into the yard, this wouldn't work to walk your dog, but saves his paws as it isn't the cold, but the ICE sticking to his pads that causes the pain.

Answer:	I live in the UP of Michigan, heart of winter we have -20 and that's before wind chill. Yes this will work. I use this on the outside along the bottom of my garage door to keep the door from freezing close/stuck. Also on my threshold to the side door to my garage right after bad freeze after a semi melt. While it is not as bad as some brands it's not 100% pet friendly. (haven't found one yet that truly is) I push broom or shovel the melt off the walk way as it does annoy my paws and claws.

Answer:	You will have to buy an extension cord. Be sure to get one that is 12 gauge and rated at 15 amps. I would buy one that is made for cold weather so it isn't stiff and it remains flexible when snow blowing.

Answer:	Hmm, how many inches of snow was there? I just used mine this morning with 13 inches of snow and it was throwing it about 6-8 feet, quite impressive actually for a $150 machine.

Otherwise, you are backing up and running through again (which is not really a problem because the blower is light).After doing a couple runs with 2 days of snow falling, and some melting, I can give these measurements that it should run through without problem:Light Snow: 8"-12"Medium Snow: 5"-8"Heavy Snow (not packed): Going above the amounts in the specific weight of snow, and the Joe may clog, or start to chug. Otherwise, no issues.

Answer:	After using this for a year, I would think it would work on a shallow-pitched roof. Flat roof, no. But anything with a downward slope this should work!
