12 best in the swim chlorine tablets
"In the swim chlorine tablets" likely refers to chlorine tablets used in swimming pool maintenance. These tablets are a common and essential chemical product for pool owners. Here is some information about them:
Purpose: Chlorine tablets are used to disinfect and sanitize swimming pool water. They help kill bacteria, algae, and other harmful microorganisms that can grow in pool water.
Chemical Composition: Chlorine tablets typically contain trichloro-s-triazinetrione as the active ingredient. When placed in a pool's chlorinator or floater, these tablets dissolve slowly, releasing chlorine into the water to maintain a consistent level of sanitation.
Usage: Pool owners use chlorine tablets by placing them in a floating chlorinator or a chlorine feeder, which dispenses the chlorine gradually into the pool water. The rate at which the tablets dissolve can be adjusted to control the chlorine levels in the pool.
Types: Chlorine tablets come in different sizes and formulations. Some are stabilized, which means they are designed to release chlorine more slowly and are suitable for longer-lasting sanitization. Others are non-stabilized and dissolve faster.
Safety: When using chlorine tablets, it's important to follow safety guidelines. Avoid direct contact with the tablets, and always handle them with care. Store them in a cool, dry place away from other chemicals and flammable materials.
Maintenance: Regularly monitoring and maintaining the chlorine levels in your pool is essential to ensure that the water remains safe and free from harmful microorganisms.
Availability: Chlorine tablets are widely available in stores that sell pool and spa supplies. They are a key component of pool maintenance, especially during the swimming season.
Please note that specific product details and availability may vary, so it's advisable to read the product labels and follow the manufacturer's instructions when using chlorine tablets for your pool.

Question: | how many gallons does one tab do |
Answer: | Yes, for wood or plastic. |
Question: | Does this product expire |
Answer: | I bought it for a gift so don't really know for a fact but I believe they are a silver grey. |
Question: | Can i use these in a blow up pool |
Answer: | The F500-2 description says it uses (between others) F53 and F54 refils, which are these flexible and the corresponding rigid points. |
Question: | Individually wrapped |
Answer: | I would ask a framer because you don't want to put pressure on the glass and crack it in order to insert the point. There is a springback effect when you insert the point. And if you don't get it close enough to the glass the glass will shift. I only use it for canvas artwork. You might want to place something on the glass to act as a buffer between the driver and the glass. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this Chlorine stabilized or unstabilized |
Answer: | No! |
Question: | Can this be used in a saltwater pool |
Answer: | I have a saltwater pool and last year learned that using this type of shock in saltwater creates calcium crystals to form. (White flakes floating around) Use liquid chlorine in your saltwater pool. |
Question: | How long do you have to wait to swim after shocking |
Answer: | Not just a couple minutes with any chlorine shock. That is false! Both Chlorine Free Shock and Lithium Hypo Shock are fine like play sand and dissolve almost instantly. For that reason you can swim after only a few minutes after shocking with a non chlorine shock. Using Chlorine shocks require a waiting period for swimming of 4-8hrs. If you read the package I beleive it says to add to the deepest part of your pool, at night, with your pool pump running (pre disolve in water for vinyl pools) or something to that affect. Personally, I shock once per week at night. If it happens that I need to shock before the kids want to swim then I typically wait a minimum or 1-2hrs before letting them get in. As a general rule of thumb waiting a good 8hrs+ after shocking is good pool chemical practice . If "Michael Brown" waits a couple minutes and that works for him then by all means have at it. I do know that under no circumstance would I reccomend just a couple minutes with a chlorine based shock. I cant imagine that the manufacturer would reccomend that either. Hope that helps a little. |
Question: | Can this product to be used in a concrete pool |
Answer: | I have a gunite pool and use this product. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why would these cleaning tablets be recommended for a 14x36 pool that only holds 2,400 gallons |
Answer: | We are the manufacturer of HTH Super 3" Chlorinating Tablets and these are for pools of 10,000 gallons or more. For a 2,400 gallon pool we would recommend our HTH 1" Chlorinating Tablets. If you have any questions please contact us at 866-484-7665. |
Question: | Is this gonna blow up if I take it out of the pool, ppm is off the scale >10 and manufacturer is not answering their phone |
Answer: | No, the tablets do not 'blow up' when removed from water. If you're getting a high ppm reading you may be using too many tablets for your pool's size. Our pool is approximately 28,000 gallons, and we use two tablets in a floating container/distributor. We augment the tablets with once-a-week shock. If we have to add water (we live in the Florida Keys), or get a lot of rain we'll adjust the chemicals accordingly. Also, be sure you're running your pump and filter at least 8 hours a day for dispersal of chemicals. |
Question: | We just bought a 15 ft, 33 inch fast set pool. What would be the best to use |
Answer: | We are the manufacturer of HTH Super 3" Chlorinating Tablets and one of these tablets is for 10,000 gallons of water. For your size pool we recommend our HTH 1" Chlorinating Tablets. If you have any more questions please call us at 866-484-7665. |
Question: | My chlorine is really low, the ph and alkaline are high. What do I add |
Answer: | We are the manufacturer of HTH Super 3" chlorinating tablets. If your alkalinity and pH are too high you will need to adjust those by using HTH pH Down or Decreaser. For more information please call us at 866-484-7665 and we will be happy to help. |

Algae can turn pool water green. HTH Super 3" Chlorinating Tablets destroy algae and bacteria to keep the water looking blue.

This easy-to-use chlorine tablet dissolves slowly and effectively to sanitize your pool. One tablet keeps working for up to one week per 10,000 gallons.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it ok to use this everyday to maintain our swim spa's (2500 gallons) chlorine level? I have to add about 2-3 ozs/day |
Answer: | 3" dia. by about 1.5"thick. the amount in a 50 lb. bucket I never thought about....I would say at least 100 of them...plus or minus... |
Question: | I feel dumb, but I can't figure out how to open this bucket. I've tried jostling the red tab and turning but to no avail. Any tips |
Answer: | Yes, i use it in my salt water pool, one bag a week |
Question: | Haven't ordered this in awhile. Do I have it right that the price for a single 50-lb tub has doubled in the last 6-8 months |
Answer: | I just sprinkle around pool |
Question: | How large are the tabs (3 inch or smaller) and how many tabs in each 50 lb bucket |
Answer: | Good question: I reviewed several sources and found the answers to be complicated. My opinion is that Granular calcium hypochlorite contains 65 percent of available chlorine. Therefore, if you are currently using sodium hypochlorite (12%), then you can make an equivalent stock solution by mixing 1.5 pounds of granular calcium hypochlorite to each gallon of water in the stock solution tank. Source of information http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=93148 The solid form (Calcium Hypochlorite) seems easier to use which is why I purchase that one. Additionally, the cost per unit of chlorine from the calcium hypochlorite seems to be less expensive. Again, sources of information show differing numbers including the amount of free chlorine released from each unit. It may be a good idea to try each one then test the resultant solution for the amount of available Chlorine. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used as shock |
Answer: | I use this with floating tablets and never have a problem. If you are using this for shock treatment you'll need to use at least 3 times the recommended amount to kill all of the bacteria. Also make sure and disolove it before putting it in the pool. If you have a larger pool make sure and use at least 2 of the floaters with large tablets. |
Question: | Will this last me at least 2 seasons |
Answer: | Well, I reckon that depends on your water, your location, the amount of time you and others are in the water, how often you change the water and how picky you are on keeping it exactly perfect or if you use an average range to decide when you need to add. I have no clue what you are putting it in. I use it in my hot tub which is 365 gallons. I'm 3 miles off the coast between Houston and Corpus and we drain the water every 4-5 months, keep the tub covered, keep it at 103°F and I get in about every day and my wife gets in twice a week. I use this about a tablespoon at a time and not regular, depends on the water clarity and if others have been in. I know that is not an exact answer to your question, however your question was really vague. What I saw was "Will this last me 2 seasons?" I buy about 24 1# sacks and use it that way. I have a plastic bottle that will hold a full sack. When I need some more, I open a sack and pour it in the bottle to keep it fresh. Much cheaper that way. I always shop around for prices. They vary from source to source. |

In The Swim Sodium Di-Chlor Chlorine Granular
Swimming pool shock treatments are an essential aspect of spring pool opening but can also be used to give your pool a quick chlorine boost. Sodium Di-Chlor Chlorine Granular is a strong pool shock treatment which is used to kill algae and bacteria as well as other harmful water contaminants. It is also a great shock to use for Spring pool openings.
Use our Sodium Di-Chlor Chlorine Granular to kill visible algae blooms and invisible bacteria, which could cause illness to swimmers. Your daily chlorination of the pool will kill most bacteria and other contaminants. To be sure that the water is completely sanitary, it is best to super chlorinate by shocking the pool every few weeks. Doing this also allows you to oxidize everything in the water, especially the various contaminants that may exist in the water.
Pool Care and Maintenance
It is important to maintain your pool/spa to keep it clean and healthy all year round. Good habits, such as cleaning your filter or emptying your skimmer basket, will ensure that your investment is protected for years to come. But most importantly, you and your family will be able to enjoy the swimming pool or spa each season.
Water Testing
Testing the water weekly or bi-weekly, depending on use and outside variables, helps keep your pool/spa water healthy. Utilizing a DPD or OTO reagent-based water test kit, test strips, or digital testing will help you monitor the pool or spa water chemistry.
Adjusting and Balancing
Adjusting and balancing your pool or spa water chemistry ensures that you will get the most out of the swimming season. The benefit of having good pH and Alkalinity levels is that it will increase the ability of your main sanitizer to kill bacteria. Balanced pool water chemistry will also reduce chemical and maintenance costs. Balanced pH and alkalinity help prevent corrosion and scale formation on the interior pool surface and surrounding equipment.
Sanitizing
There are many different types of sanitizers used in various pool and spa environments. Clean and healthy water starts by establishing a proper residual chlorine level with shock or concentrated granular chlorine. The most common way to maintain a proper chlorine level is by using trichlor chlorine tablets in either a floater or chemical feeder. Applying these steps to your normal maintenance plan will ensure the elimination of non-living organic contaminants, bacteria, micro organisms, and algae making your water safe to enjoy.
Pool Fun and Safety
Now that the water is properly balanced and sanitized, it’s time to get in there and have some fun! We recommend enhancing your outdoor living environment with games, floats or loungers, toys, and accessories. Get creative!
Safety is of the utmost importance, and there are many ways to help make your pool/spa safer. Having a life ring buoy, a shepherd's hook, depth markers, coast guard-approved life preservers, door and water alarms and having your local aquatic environment safety regulations on-hand will ensure a fun and safe environment for your family.
Treatment
Even after all your preparation, sometimes life happens and your pool or spa can get away from you. In those moments, we need to start back from the beginning with testing of the water. Now that you have a clear idea of the current readings, your next steps will depend on the type of symptoms your water is presenting. This may include an issue such as algae (green, yellow, black, etc.), cloudiness, living organics, debris, and other water conditions.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this safe to use in a pool with a liner |
Answer: | Yes! We have a liner in ground pool and have used this for 4 years. |
Question: | Without having to weigh each dose, what do you use (measuring cup?) to determine a pound |
Answer: | The cup and instructions are on the tub. I use the recommendation for the size pool I have. Always test your water with your test kit. |
Question: | Is this for dark surface pools |
Answer: | It is just pool shock. It has a higher percentage than most so it is more effective even when using less. I don’t know if any restriction regarding what type of pool it can be used in. |
Question: | Does this have stabilizer in it |
Answer: | I do not believe it does. I don’t like stabilizer since it raises the CYA level and it is my understanding this does not include that. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many tablets should I use for a 95 inch long inflatable pool |
Answer: | I have a 500 gallon hot tub. I have a floater that holds 8 of the bromine tabs. In the summer i adjust it to where it uses those 8 tabs in a week. Keeping my tub properly sanitized without it getting too much. I suggest buying a floater and a test kit. |
Question: | What is the exact specs for this product? How much bromine/chlorine/etc plus total active ingredient |
Answer: | Greetings,The label states the following:1-Bromo-3-chloro-5.5-dimethylbydantoin 96%Other ingredients not specified in the label 4%Actually, if you magnify the picture available in the Amazon product description, the ingredient list can be read. This product works very well in our spa.Hope this helps. |
Question: | how long 1 tablet lasts |
Answer: | Bromine tablets dissolve very slowly, it takes more than 2 days to dissolve a tablet in a skimmer basket when the pump is running continuously. Bromine tablets are used with a feeder. I use 2 lbs/month for a 10,000 gallon indoor pool at 85°F that averages 3-4 bather hours a day. A UV ozone injector doesn’t really make very much difference in the bromine demand. Bromine-amines are not odiferous and eye stinging like chlorine and remain an effective sanitizer. Bromine doesn’t outgas rapidly from warmer water the way chlorine does and isn’t dissipated rapidly by sunlight. A pool is most efficiently converted from chlorine to bromine by adding sodium bromide before changing the sanitizer added to the pool. When sodium bromide is dissolved the pool’s chlorine quickly replaces the bromine forming sodium chloride (table salt) leaving the liberated bromine as the sanitizer in the pool. |
