User questions & answers
Question: | Why does my chlorine/bromine square (1st square) turn blue? That's not on the chart |
Answer: | Re FCL/Br pad turning blue means you could have a very high level of Chlorine in the water. Usually as it goes up the scale goes from a white color at 0 ppm, to pink to purple them off the scale 10 ppm+ could be a purplish blue color. If you have recently chlorine shocked the water this might be why. As the chlorine/Brominie dissipates this level should return to normal. |
Question: | Will these give proper reading for alkaline ph of drinking water from a alkaline water machine |
Answer: | Yes, these strips can be used to test any water. The ideal ranges displayed on our product's results key are intended for swimming pool water, but the readings also provide results as ppm or standard pH scale, so you can still compare the results to your desired levels. |
Question: | will this work on salt water pool |
Answer: | This will work but it's my understanding that salt water pools have a much lower chlorine level than chlorinated pools. The 'normal' level indicator shown on the bottle may be incorrect for a salt pool. More information here:http://www.saltwaterpoolandspa.com/salt-water-pool-maintenance.html |
Question: | does the package state what chemicals to add |
Answer: | There are several factors to consider when adding products to affect your pool's chemistry. Weather conditions, frequency of use, water features, time of day, and pool surface material all play a role in determining what your ideal chemical levels should be, and the amounts needed to affect a proper change. These test strips are intended as a simple diagnostic to determine your pool's current chemical levels. Please consult a pool calculator, or contact your local pool professional for advice on changing the chemical levels of your pool water. |

- SpaGuard Enhanced Shock 2lb
User questions & answers
Question: | Is this NON chlorine shock |
Answer: | Idk but it can be used in both chlorine and bromine hot tubs. This is the best shock ive used. Makes my hot tub super clear! |
Question: | How many tablespoons are in this container |
Answer: | Roughly, 60 tablespoons. This is according to a grams to tablespoons conversion calculator I found online. The bottle contains 2lbs or 907 grams. |
Question: | is this the same stuff as spa shock-oxidizer by Spaguard |
Answer: | It is definitely the same. There is this one which is Enhanced.( sanitizer and oxidizer ) It has chlorine. Just the plain shock does not have chlorine and it will say Non- Chlorine. Meaning another form of chlorine is needed. With this one this is all you need for after you get out of spa each time. I was told when purchased to put 1 tsp per bather. We do only have 2 of us and only 200 gallons of water. It works great to keep clean and clear. |
Question: | I am told to put in a cap full once a week. How many tablespoons does the "cap" of the bottle hold |
Answer: | A cap full is about 5 tablespoons. You should use 1 teaspoon a week. A Capp full would be too much. This product works great. |
Product description
The sanitizing power of chlorination in concentrated granules. Chlorinating Concentrate should be added directly to spa water while the pump is running. Use regular doses as a sanitizer and shock doses as an oxidizer.
- Granular stabilized chlorinator
- Acts as a sanitizer and an oxidizer; no need for two products
- Fast acting
- Quick dissolving
- May be added directly to spa, no predissolving needed
User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used to sanitize a fresh water tank in an RV |
Answer: | This chlorinated product is a granulated concentrate. It needs to be agitated to completely dissolve in the water. It's also bit expensive for this type of use. I just used household Bleach to sanitize my RV freshwater tank. I am on well water, so I would add one teaspoon for each 20 gallons of freshwater to lengthen the storage time in the tank. |
Question: | can these clorinating granules be used in a softub |
Answer: | Yes they can |
Question: | Is this the same as shock |
Answer: | I don't think so. Spaguard also makes a product called Enhanced Shock, which has orange labelling & cap. |
Question: | I want to use this in my inflatable pool. Do these just dissolve in the water |
Answer: | I mix a teaspoon of it in a bucket half full with hot water to dissolve the product. I use my kid’s beach bucket. Then I pour it into the inflatable pool and mix it around. I do this 3 times a week and it’s working perfectly. The water is crystal clear. I think I have about 100 gallons of water in my inflatable pool. (It holds 163 gallons but I don’t fill it to capacity) Otherwise the product does not seem to dissolve in cold water. |

Bright and Clear from Leisure Time is specially designed for hot water application. Spa water becomes cloudy because millions of small, suspended particles accumulate in the water and are too small to be filtered out. By using Bright and Clear hot tub cleaner, the small particles combine to form larger particles that can be trapped by the filter to improve water clarity. Using spa cleaning chemicals has never been easier with Leisure Time spa supplies. This staple hot tub chemical utilizes polymer action suspend and filter particles. Allow spa to run for several minutes after use before entering. About the Brand: Leisure Time was developed for use in spas, hot tubs, and jacuzzies. Our water care products are both economical and powerful enough for the toughest jobs. Within Leisure Time’s wide selection of products, we offer everything from algaecides and deposit control formulas to non-chlorine shock treatments, powerful surface cleaners, clarifiers, enzyme-based cleaners, and more. User questions & answers
Question: | How often do you use this product? We use our Hot Tube 2-3 times a week |
Answer: | I test the water in the hot tub with a test strip and add the appropriate water treatment(s) once a week. It seems to come out about the same every week and the water never gets cloudy or gunky. |
Question: | Does any one know why did the price go up from 13.23 to 15.52 in ~7 months |
Answer: | Greed, like everything else!! |
Question: | How quickly can you tell that it is working? Does it take minutes, or hours, or a day |
Answer: | Depends on the condition of your water when you place the product in the water. It will work in minutes if the water is not too bad. Should be used on conjunction with the rest of the Leisure Time products. |
Question: | Can this product be used in a built in spa with tile and plaster |
Answer: | I presume so, the effect of using this product is microscopic particles clump together and form a paste-like substance around the tub at the water line, which leaves the water clear. You will need to wipe off the spa at the water line to "finish" the process. If your spa has a porous surface at the water line, it would be a mess, but ceramic tile shouldn't be too hard to clean. Hope that helps. |
Question: | I have been using these Bromine tabs for 3 + weeks, & no reading on test strips? I heard to an oxidizer? Is there someting to activate the bromine |
Answer: | Hi, We are the manufacturer of Clorox Pool&Spa products. Not getting a bromine reading could be due to a few things. The first would be there not being enough tablets to give a good sanitizer level. Bromine tablets are extremely slow dissolving, so it could take more tablets to give a stable reading. The next would be having an abundance of contaminants in the water that's causing a bromine demand. For that situation, it's best to shock the water with a fast dissolving type of bromine or chlorine to quickly destroy those contaminants. A less common cause of a 0 bromine reading would be having an extremely high bromine level in the water. High levels of bromine can react with test strips and liquid reagent test kits and bleach the testing reagents, making them appear low or 0. Bromine chemistry does involve shocking the water with either bromine, chlorine or an oxygen based shock to reactivate the bromide salts in the water. However, the scenarios above still apply following the shocking. If you have any other questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-800-SOS-POOL. |
Question: | How long after adding these to the hot tub before it's safe to use |
Answer: | You should be using these in a floating dispenser, not just adding them directly to the hot tub. If you do that, you can use the hot tub while the dispenser is floating in it. Just test the water regularly. |
Question: | how many tablets in a bottle |
Answer: | Hi, We are the manufacturer of Clorox Pool and Spa products. There are approximately 36 one inch tablets per 1.5 lb. container. If you have any other questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-800-SOS-POOL. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the tablets |
Answer: | Hi, We are the manufacturer of Clorox Pool&Spa products. These are standard 1" tablets. If you have any other questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-800-SOS-POOL. |

SPECIAL CLEANING CONSIDERATIONS FOR PORTABLE HOT TUBS, SPAS AND SWIM SPAS Like all appliances, hot tubs require periodic maintenance. Remember, while soaking in what seems like a perfectly clean hot tub, behind the scenes, there are many feet of interior plumbing lines moving water seamlessly throughout the spa to dozens of jets. When not in use these plumbing lines become an area of buildup from non-living nutrients such as lotions, cosmetics, sweat and other inanimate contaminants. We highly recommend you complete an Ouster treatment using Ouster 3-in-1 Weekly Care for Portable Hot Tubs and Swim Spas if you experience any of these poor water quality symptoms. You see black, gray, or white flakes, slime or gunk in the water, filters or shell surface. There's a noticeable odor. This may be either rotten egg or chlorine smell. Your hot tub water is cloudy on a regular basis. You are buying chemicals more frequently or using more chemicals on a weekly basis to maintain good water quality Your skin itches after you exit the hot tub. User questions & answers
Question: | I have a spa frog in my hot tub. can i refill my chlorine cartridge with this product |
Answer: | Our store does not carry the Spa Frog chlorine cartridges, so I have not handled one, but I am not aware of them being refillable. Their other cartridges certainly are not. That said, using a product like this could replace the use of the Spa Frog chlorine cartridge for you. |
Question: | Does this product work as both a sanitizer (chlorine) and an mps shock (non chlorine shock |
Answer: | This product is intended as a sanitizer to help you maintain your chlorine levels at 3-5ppm in a chlorine based system. A shock product, such as BioGuard Enhanced Shock, is intended to be added regularly or after use to boost chlorine levels and kill off excess bacteria in the water. Shocks will subside relatively quickly because they are only meant to temporarily boost chlorine levels, while sanitizers are meant to keep them at certain levels and will last longer |
Question: | Can this product be left in its closed container when the temperature is in the 30’s degree F |
Answer: | Yes the Chlorinating Concentrate is a dry product it stays good no matter how low the temperature drops. |
Question: | Does this product contain cya stabilizer |
Answer: | Cyanuric acid (CYA) is not listed as an ingredient. However, the ingredient list says "Other ingredients 1.0%" |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this dispenser with bromine granules, rather than tablets |
Answer: | I think the bromine granules would go through the slots. Tablets work best! |
Question: | How many bromide tablet do you put in this product at the same time |
Answer: | 6 tablets will fit. and last about a week |
Question: | What is the setting for 400 gallon hot tub |
Answer: | the instructions state that you should set the dispenser at 4.5 for a 400 gal tub using Bromine, FYI |
Question: | instructions mention a "feeder tube setting" at bottom of lock ring but I do not see any numbers or indication of how to calibrate. any suggestions |
Answer: | Numbers run down the center of the threads on the floating head. Screw feeder tube to number setting and tighten down lock ring. Number depends on size of hot tub-we keep ours around "6" and our hot tub is 200 gallons. Must clean feeder tube every so often so it doesn't clog with residue that can build up in tube. |
