Answer:	It depends on the bait you are using. After all, the flies will be consuming it and bathed in it. This product states the attractant is non-toxic and insecticide free. As long as that is true, it is perfectly safe to feed to your chickens in reasonable quantities. (Don't dump a full trap of flies at once for a handful of chickens.) And maggots, YUM, are just fly larvae that have hatched inside the trap. They are a bonus the chickens will adore.

Answer:	I didn't look for a fill line. I simply filled the jar half full of water and added the attractant packet. You just need sufficient water to drown the flies that enter the trap. Around my backyard chicken coop (6 hens) the jars fill with flies within 2-3 weeks in the summer and have to be emptied. This product works extremely well.

Answer:	Nothing is wrong. Shake the jar to bring the flies into the liquid. Otherwise wait to the cool of the morning, shake the jar, and remove the flies into a plastic zip lock bag with a strainer spoon and seal the bag. I usuall add a small amount of insecticide and throw the bag into the garbage. Add water to bring up the level in the jar. The flies will be quiet early in the morning. If the flies reach the top of the jar, it will be easy for flies to escape. As a result the trap will cease to work when full, and in fact may increase the fly population when maggots form. You can strain the flies about five times before you need to fully clean the jar and replace the bait.

Fleas gravitate to the trap from within your house and off animal. Still use your recommended flea meds from the vet, this just catches the ones that are left. Put one in each room of house for optimal results. I have one in my living room and one in the bedroom.
