13 best bed bug foggers
Bed bug foggers, also known as bed bug bombs or aerosol insecticides, are products used for pest control to eliminate bed bugs in indoor spaces. These foggers release a mist or fog of insecticide into the air, with the intention of reaching and killing bed bugs hiding in cracks, crevices, and other hard-to-reach areas. Here's what you need to know about bed bug foggers:
Application: Bed bug foggers are typically used as a part of a bed bug treatment plan. You activate the fogger by pressing a button or releasing a valve, which disperses the insecticide into the room.
Contents: Bed bug foggers contain various chemicals designed to kill bed bugs on contact. Some common active ingredients include pyrethroids or pyrethrins, which are synthetic versions of natural insecticides derived from chrysanthemum flowers.
Caution: When using bed bug foggers, it's essential to follow the instructions on the product label carefully. They usually require you to evacuate the treated area for a specified period and cover or remove food, dishes, and pets.
Effectiveness: While bed bug foggers can kill bed bugs on contact, they may not eliminate the entire infestation. Bed bugs can hide in deep cracks and crevices, and foggers may not reach these areas effectively. As a result, they are often more useful as a supplementary measure rather than a stand-alone solution.
Safety: Using bed bug foggers requires caution. Ensure that the treated area is well-ventilated before returning, as inhaling the insecticide mist can be harmful. Keep children and pets away from the treated area until it is safe.
Professional Help: For severe bed bug infestations or for more comprehensive and effective treatment, it's recommended to seek professional pest control services.Professionals have the knowledge and equipment to address bed bug infestations more thoroughly.
Prevention: After treating for bed bugs, it's crucial to take preventive measures to avoid reinfestation. This includes regularly inspecting your home, using mattress encasements, and practicing good hygiene to reduce the risk of future infestations.
In summary, bed bug foggers can be a part of a bed bug control strategy, but they should be used with caution and in conjunction with other methods, such as thorough cleaning, vacuuming, and professional pest control if necessary. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and consider seeking expert advice for severe infestations.

User questions & answers
Question: | How often can I use hot sho |
Answer: | I live in a high roach/bug infested neighborhood. The first 2 years we didn't have any problems in our place, however for the last 2 years, the bugs are just getting worse. I plan to use this product as directed and repeat in a couple of weeks and just keep going until the bugs are gone. |
Question: | Do you have to unplug your refrigerator before using these foggers? (yes I'll be doing the kitchen |
Answer: | Bed Bugs are hard to kill and in order for this to be guaranteed you need to use it over and over several times in the entire house. We contacted a pest control company and they insisted that WE move all the furniture out of any rooms WE needed treated, WE wash all our clothing, towels, throws, and anything else on high heat and dry on high heat, WE remove our carpet and then after WE had done all that the pest control company would charge over a thou$and dollars. More like $1,500. And then they would come back once in 2 weeks and retreat and not guarantee it after that. In other words, You do all the work and they come in with sprays that are far more deadly than what I can buy and spray. But still no real guarantee. If I have to do all the work and still no guarantee, I'm going to do the work and use these bed bug bombs for several months (2 weeks apart) and get a superior job (including new flooring) than would be worth the "pro" coming in. And yes. The pest control company will tell you it doesn't work because they need a couple thou$and dollar$ out of you. |
Question: | If my pilot for the water heater is in the basement and I'm not using the fogger there, do I have to shut if off |
Answer: | I didn't turn any of my pilots or water heater off so I don't think you need to worry |
Question: | Will it going to kill eggs? Bedbug |
Answer: | It appears to be more steroids rather than extermination. I have used 150 cans, the powder, and the gallon plastic containers for a number of years. Diatimatious Earth works on crawling insects including Bed Bugs but will not get to the eggs. The food grade powder is available in 1 pound bags through Amazon. Not only does it dehydrate bags that crawl across but has safe, medicinal value through human ingestions. The foggers leave a residue on everything. The air with the fog is most unpleasant for me but the Bed Bugs appear to love it. The low sticky boards are much better but an insect or rodent must crawl across the board. I have more than 50 of the cardboard three pack boxes left. I placed the fogger on the opened (flattened) boxes. Then discard the card board after a few uses. After possible 4-5 years I just finished with the last gallon liquid Hot Shot Bedbug container and started with an other product I purchased on Amazon. Very expensive but if it works will actually be cheap in total dollar cost. The D.E. powder is something you can ingest if food grade but you will need masks and a separate vacuum as the D.E. will clog a regular vacuum. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long does it take for the fogger to finish |
Answer: | I would have to say around 5 minutes |
Question: | can I use it in my car |
Answer: | The fog is slightly flammible. You need to take precautions using this in a house, a car is way too small. If there were some kind d of ignition source I would hate to see what would happen. Maybe if you got 4 units in a 2 car garage and opened all the doors and windows and disconnected the battery... |
Question: | How many are included here? The description says ( 2-3/2-Ounce ) but I'm not sure what that means |
Answer: | If you look on the front cover it says 3 cans included |
Question: | How many bedbug fogger container can i use in my bedroom and living room |
Answer: | Depends on the size of the room and how severe the problem is. One container for a room ~12 x 14 should work. Give the aerosol two hours to disperse, then open the room door and windows (weather permitting) and let it air hour for another hour. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do I need to cover TVs |
Answer: | I have not been replaced plate yet. So I do not know. __I think you can replace the universal plate (different brand) Just check the specification then compare yours. Good luck |
Question: | Will this harm spiders |
Answer: | Someone else mentioned that they couldn't get it to ship to CA. Is that where you are? |
Question: | Can I use it while my pets are inside |
Answer: | NO. To properly use the machine it must have a source of fresh air. If you want to deodorize a pair of shoes make yourself a tunnel (fireproof!) and put the shoes in the middle, the ozone generator output on one end, and the other end open to the air (in other words you pump the ozone thru the tunnel). Do this someplace where you will not be exposed to the fumes. I have used this machine in a car to deodorize the air conditioner. I left a car window open and the aircon fan running at low speed to circulate the ozone. |
Question: | Does this work For bed bugs |
Answer: | Those power cords are easy to find And very common. Most all old computers have the same cord. I'd bet if you look around you can find one. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this kill ighting bugs |
Answer: | I can't imagine it wouldn't stick to finished wood. You may want to try in a spot that doesn't show as a test. 4 oz bottle is a lot of super glue. |
Question: | Does it keep bees out of the yard |
Answer: | I haven't tried it with paint yet. This stuff is outstanding on every surface I've worked with. It sets very quickly and the bond is really strong. It's become my go-to glue. |
Question: | Does this also control Yellowjackets (wasps |
Answer: | Absolutely. Be sure to sand and clean the metal surface first and wipe with isopropyl alcohol or acetone. This is high viscosity super glue with an activator that slows the cure compared to conventional super glue. How do I know? I formulated this product when it was called Nexabond 2500 before DAP purchased the brand. |
Question: | Does this prevent & repel mosquitoes? or just kill them if you happen to hit one with the spray |
Answer: | I haven't tried that combination yet but I dont see why it wouldn't work. I have used the glue on lots of wood, plastic, and glass projects with no problems just not a glass wood combination. |

Eliminate and Prevent Bed Bugs
About Harris
Problem solving has a long heritage at PF Harris. In 1924, two years after its founding, the company tackled the Calvin Coolidge White House, which had been overrun for years by roaches and water bugs. Harris’s product was so successful in eliminating the scourge that he was described on the front page of the Washington Times as a "vermin slayer" who has just fought a decisive, winning battle with a horde of cockroaches which infested the lower regions of the Executive Mansion.
Over the course of the next few months Harris took “his final feast” to dozens of government buildings, including the Senate Office Building, the Department of Justice, the Supreme Court and Walter Reed Hospital. Success followed success: Each superintendent of the various buildings was highly satisfied with the results.
The company today stays nimble enough to respond to changing market demands, leading the way in the development of numerous products, including natural insect repellents like Swamp Gator and Swamp Gnat which repel biting insects without using deet. Beyond the products it sells, Harris helps customers find easy and economical solutions to pest problems through helpful labeling, instructive videos and personal advice.
It’s a brand with a reliable past and an innovative future. PF Harris is America’s oldest EPA-registered company. With more than 55 products, the company provides solutions to treat everything from roaches and bed bugs to scorpions and stink bugs.

What problems does the device solve?
Ultrasonic Pest Repeller is an effective, safe and long-lasting device that will solve your pest problem and will prevent all diseases transmitted by pests. It emits Ultrasonic, Electromagnetic and Bionic pulses that expel ALL types of Insects and Pests including cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, rats, mice, mosquitoes, midges and many others.
Our CRUELTY-Free technology doesn’t kill pests, it makes the conditions for them intolerable and they naturally leave the area. No dead Pests in your home!
Say GOOD BYE to unwanted guests in your house!
Step 1
After reading the instruction plug in the repeller into an electric outlet
Step 2
During the usage make sure that nothing covers the device or blocks ultrasonic waves
Step 3
Within 3-4 weeks of continuous usage you will see the maximum effect. Additional units - quicker result!
How it works?
Pest Repeller produces Ultrasonic, Electromagnetic and Bionic waves which drive pests out of your home. Different frequency of sound (from 20 to 40 kHz) it mean that pests will never adapt to the pulses and will not stay at your home.
Pest Repeller is the safest and the best alternative to chemical repellents, poison spray or traps that damage people. The technology doesn’t harm humans and pets but it only influences pests.
Because ultrasonic waves do not penetrate walls it’s most effective to use one repeller per room.
For the best result we recommend using 1 repeller for 600-800 sq Ft. Use 2 or more units for areas bigger than 1600 sq ft. to see result more quickly.
Tip 1
Use at least 1 unit in each room. (For an area bigger than 1600 sq Ft use an additional unit)
Tip 2
Do not cover the appliance with furniture or curtains
Tip 3
Use 2 or more appliances on opposite walls to reduce blind zones
Tip 4
Clean the room as often as possible in the first month of usage to block any source of food for pests

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between Harris diatomaceous earth and Harris bed bug killer diatomaceous earth |
Answer: | None that I know of. |
Question: | Is it pet friendly |
Answer: | Yes. This stuff just comes from "diatoms". Basically, their crustaceans. It cuts the bugs exoskeleton and they dry out, but it takes time for them to pass through the dust for it to cut them up and they lose body water. Doesn't hurt us or animals, but I wouldn't dust it to the extent that you and the pets are breathing it so much. Make sure you change your house filters often or it can clog up the systems and you will have another issue. Whatever you use...if it says "residual", that is what is not safe for pets. It can get in their pads and absorb poison into their feet. Most other control treatments just need to get dry for 8hrs. |
Question: | how would this be used to prevent bed bugs |
Answer: | I have lived through this nightmare with tenants bringing. If you rent, do NOT try to do it yourself, depending on the infestation they can be hard to eradicate. Do the right thing and notify. Don't risk taking them to someone else's property if you move. Look up how to check for them carefully with flashlight. I used a professional company--3 sprays 2 weeks apart using a different mix chemicals each time, and still a tenant saw one that got away in a box of stuff she had and did not check it carefully when un-bagging, that was 10 days after 3rd spray so had them come and spray again and check, and they got rid of their old mattress/box spring and two ripped couches. I think it had been going on for months, but new roommate was sensitive to bites and figured it out, so I would say they bred for months. The prep work is crucial to winning the war (you can look that up,plenty of info online) plus I have used this along edges of rooms, corners of closets, backs of dressers, drawer backs and inside when drawer removed, sockets, and will continue to do every few weeks after vacuum for safeguard. You don't usually see them as they hide during day, unless you have a heavier infestation, alcohol will kill them on contact and used in spray bottle for shoes and some tiny areas. All exterminating companies will do a free inspection to see if you have them and not hard to learn to check yourself and where. I highly advise to be diligent for several months and not let your guard down to quick! |
Question: | Does this product have any other ingredient besides DE |
Answer: | This is a mechanical insecticide, that is to say it is Diatomaceous Earth powder, a soft siliceous powder which lacerates the abdomen or if ingested kills the insect within 48 hours. The insect quite literally dies the " death of a thousand cuts " . It's 85% DE and 15% other which is most likely a filler unspecified however. So far my experience with it has been very positive, I haven't seen any insects since distributing this powder. I do recommend the use of a dust mask when dusting your rooms as we should always err on the side of safety. If you have a problem you'll love this product . BTW remember it must remain dry to be effective and keep in mind that with these type infestations persistence is key to winning so don't let up. |

Our Story
Identify, Eliminate & Prevent
Harris Diatomaceous Earth Bed Bug Powder is an important part of the bed bug treatment process. Using a liquid spray and mattress encasement cover along with the powder will increase your chances of success. Below are the steps to identify, eliminate and prevent bed bugs infestations.
1. Identify
Appearance
Bed Bugs are tan to brown blood sucking parasites up to 5mm long (roughly the size of an apple seed) with a flat, oval shaped body. Bed Bugs are often confused with the following insects:
- Fleas
- Lice
- Lint/Seeds
- Carpet Beetle
Signs of Activity
Many people believe that bed bugs are too small to be seen. This isn’t true. While Bed Bugs are usually found in the bed, they can navigate around the bedroom and even into the living room. Bed bugs spend the day in harborages close to a bed, couch or chair that people sit in for long periods. They come out at night and crawl to a bed or chair to get a blood meal.
To check your bed for activity, look along the underside of the seams of the mattress. In most cases, if you have bed bugs you will notice dark colored fecal matter in this area.
Next, check the cracks of the headboard and bed frame. Bed bugs, if squished, will leave a dark red stain behind. In cases of heavy infestation, the blood sucking parasites may be found all around the room most commonly in the following places:
- Folds of curtains
- Seams of chairs and couches
- Behind wall hangings
- Edges of electrical outlets and window frames
Bites
Bed bugs usually feed between at night while we are asleep. They can feed up to 10 minutes before returning to a hiding area to digest the meal. After feeding, bed bugs may be dormant for 5 to 7 days while they digest the blood meal.
Although the bite may not be immediately felt, people often react to the proteins of the bed bug saliva introduced during biting. Usually, a reddish spot may develop, associated with some swelling and itching. There may be little response immediately following the bite, with peak itchiness being noticed one to two days later. Repeated exposure to bed bug bites may produce more intensive reactions and itchiness. However, these reactions are highly variable and some people may show absolutely no signs of being bitten while others react strongly. Fortunately, testing has determined that bed bugs are incapable of transmitting human pathogens.
2. Eliminate
- Wash and dry bed linens and furniture covers at high temperatures. Minimum drying time: 20 minutes.
- Disassemble bed. Thoroughly vacuum all six sides of box springs, mattress and bed components. Vacuum furniture, carpets and floors.
- Shake container prior to spraying mattress, box springs, bed components, flooring and baseboards. Allow to dry completely.
- Enclose mattress and box springs in encasements to prevent bed bug entry and exit. Do not remove encasements.
- Apply powder into cracks and crevices in furniture and rooms.
Most insecticides used for bed bug control are primarily of the pyrethroid> Vacuuming
Thoroughly vacuum all 6 sides of box springs and mattresses. Vacuum all cracks and crevices within the furniture of the bed and nearby electrical outlets, baseboards and floors prior to treatment. Empty the vacuum contents into a plastic bag and discard in trash.
Handling BeddingSheets and other bedding can be easily disinfected by laundering that involves a dryer cycle. The high temperatures involved in drying are critical to successfully kill bed bugs, with exposure to temperatures exceeding 120º F for 20 minutes usually sufficient to kill all life stages.
When stripping beds during a bed bug treatment, pull the sheets carefully so as not to dislodge eggs or drop bed bugs onto the floor where they may be missed by other treatments. Accidental spread of bed bugs can also be prevented by bagging the bedding as it is moved to the laundry.
Mattress / Boxspring EncasementsMattress encasements enclose your mattress and box spring and are an integral step in the treatment process for two reasons: Firs, they protect your investment in bedding. Second, they reduce the areas where bed bugs can hide nearest to you. Water-resistant, tight-weave fabric prevents the entry of even the smallest bed bug.
Disposal of Infested ItemsDisposal may be considered for mattresses, box springs, couches or other furniture that is heavily infested with bed bugs. If this is done, proper disposal should be ensured. Leaving such items on the street for disposal may cause them to be scavenged, which will spread infestations to new dwellings. Be careful when removing the items from the structure so that bed bugs will not become dislodged and infest other areas inside.
3. Prevent
Prior to Travel
- Spray luggage and allow to dry completely
- Pack clothing and personal effects in sealable plastic bags
- Bring extra resealable plastic bags for soiled clothing
At Hotel/Destination
- Place luggage in bathroom while you do inspection. If there are signs of bed bug activity, check out of that hotel
- Pull back the sheets back and check the along the seams of the mattress for bed bug feces
- Never put your suitcase on the bed and do not unpack your suitcase contents into dressers
- Re-pack luggage contents into sealable plastic bags
Returning Home
- Unpack luggage outside, or in a garage, laundry room or utility room. Leave luggage in garage, laundry or utility room
- Inspect luggage and clothing for signs of activity. If signs are found, spray luggage again
- Wash and dry clothing at high temperatures

User questions & answers
Question: | How long does it last? One month, two? Nothing on the product states how long it remains effective. Raid says theirs last for two months. Thank you |
Answer: | Can't say really. I bombed the place for fleas and it was pretty effective. The fleas came back at one point, but it is really hard to keep them out anyways. But it was many months. Can't say that is because it lasted for that long though. |
Question: | Do you have to turn off your pilot lights before use |
Answer: | It says right on the front of the box "No need to turn off pilot lights" so you should be fine to leave it on. Maybe just don't place the can right next to the stove. |
Question: | Do you have to/should you cover beds & bedding around this |
Answer: | No, you do not have to cover anything. Just put some newspaper down on the floor where the aerosol can goes. I have never had anissue with any residue. |
Question: | is hot stuff fogger safe around infants and pets |
Answer: | Just read the user manual because I had the same question. It says: "Do not allow adults, children or pets to enter the treated area until vapors, mists and aerosols have dispersed and the treated area has been thoroughly ventilated." So, it looks like it is safe as long as it has "dispersed" and the area is "thoroughly ventilated". |

User questions & answers
Question: | What does this say on shipping label when it comes |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Does it kill all the bed bugs in the bed with a few spray downs |
Answer: | Hello, Thank you for your question. This bed bug trap is not intended for fleas and I would not recommend it for this purpose. Best, John |
Question: | how is the shipped? As is or in plain box |
Answer: | Between the mattress and box spring |
Question: | is this a liqurd or powder |
Answer: | These are your detectors. They do not eliminate the problem, but they will confirm your problem. If placed around the room as well as near the head of the bed (By the bedposts) they will first confirm it is bedbugs, then if you use enough of them they will guide you on where to concentrate your treatments. Bedbugs look for Co2 and follow it back to you bed and you. Cut them in half you get twice as many that way. This just one part of your war against this zombie like army of critters. I have been very disappointed recently with pesticides. The best killer is a steamer with high temperature steam. Wash all your bedding in HOT water. Dry at high heat in the dryer for one hour. Completely disassemble your bed and use the steamer on EVERY nook and crack you can find. When out for a meal they are no thicker than a sheet of paper, so hit even the tinniest of cracks. Then steam the carpet and the floor. Get rid of everything (Like clutter items) in the bedroom seal it up in black garbage bags airtight Yes air tight. When it gets nice and hot outside set the bags in the sun. Let them bake for a couple days. You should get things into the 150 degree range to kill all of them. This sounds like its over the top buts its not. Bedbugs are like zombie wack a mole. You kill one and another pops up. Fight a total war. If you loose it costs around $10,000 dollars to throw a blanket over a house and treat the whole house. Even that comes with no guarantee. |
