3 best insect killer machine
Insect killer machines, commonly known as bug zappers, are devices designed to attract and eliminate flying insects, such as mosquitoes, flies, and moths. They are commonly used in outdoor settings like patios, gardens, and commercial establishments to provide relief from annoying and potentially disease-carrying insects. Here are some key features and information about insect killer machines:
How Bug Zappers Work: Bug zappers work by attracting insects using a light source, typically ultraviolet (UV) light, which is highly attractive to many flying insects.Once the insects are lured toward the light, they come into contact with an electrified grid or mesh. When they touch the grid, they are electrocuted, leading to their immediate demise.
Components: A typical bug zapper consists of a housing, UV bulbs or LED lights, an electrified grid, and a power source. Some models may also include features like a fan to help draw insects toward the grid or a tray to collect the dead insects.
Placement: It is essential to place bug zappers strategically in areas where flying insects are a nuisance. They are typically hung or mounted at a height of 4-6 feet above the ground, away from human seating areas to minimize the attraction of insects towards people.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is crucial for the effective operation of bug zappers. This includes cleaning the electrified grid and replacing burnt-out bulbs. Cleaning the insect tray or disposal system is also necessary to prevent odors and attract more insects.
Effectiveness: Bug zappers are generally effective in reducing the population of flying insects in the immediate vicinity. However, their effectiveness may vary depending on factors such as the type of insects in the area and the proximity of other competing light sources.
Safety: Bug zappers are generally safe for humans and pets, as they are designed to prevent accidental contact with the electrified grid. However, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's safety instructions and avoid touching the grid when the unit is powered.
Environmental Impact: While bug zappers can be effective at controlling insect populations, some concerns have been raised about their impact on non-target insects, such as beneficial pollinators. It's important to use bug zappers responsibly and consider alternative methods of pest control when necessary.
Types of Bug Zappers: There are various types of bug zappers available in the market, including residential and commercial models. Some bug zappers are portable and can be moved around as needed, while others are designed for permanent installation.
In summary, insect killer machines, or bug zappers, are devices that use UV light to attract and eliminate flying insects. They are a popular choice for outdoor pest control in settings like gardens and patios, but their effectiveness can vary depending on several factors. Proper maintenance and placement are essential for maximizing their efficiency.

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone tried this with lady bugs |
Answer: | I think the person was actually referring to the Asian Lady Beetle that have invaded many homes in large numbers. Unlike the true lady bugs that winter outside the Asian Lady Beetle prefers the indoors. They are invasive in the home and make for uncomfortable times for the people who have to deal with them indoors for 5 to 6 months. I think this device is worth a try in this instance, |
Question: | will this work with horse flies |
Answer: | Just remember to wait at least an hour or two after unplugging before trying to clean the fried bug parts off the inner grid. The grid wires are energized by (I'm guessing) a large capacitor. Dangerous voltage can remain after the unit is unplugged. I noticed this when I went to dump out the dead flies and a fly was zapped by the UNPLUGGED unit. Also remember to use a brush with NON-CONDUCTIVE bristles (not a BBQ or other wire brush). |
Question: | went to the manufacture page bulbs are NLA. Went to home depot, and they dont have anything shorter than 18'' where do I find replacment bulbs |
Answer: | 13" in length is the size of the bulb's length. If you count the connectors (the 2 connection points on both ends) it is 13 1/2 inches in length. The diameter of the bulb is 14 millimeters based on the end caps of the bulbs. I wanted to add this information here for others that may not know the length and diameter of the bulbs. With this information, you and many others should be able to find the appropriate size bulbs. Just make sure you get two and that each is 10W since both combined is what makes the zapper it's 20W. |
Question: | ultraviolet light is very bad for the eyes. how does this device handle the eye safety issue |
Answer: | It's UL approved. It's not harmful. Anymore than your microwave is. If you don't use s microwave for safety reasons....I'd stay away from this too. And breathe. Just...take a deep breath. Life is short! My best friend died next to me 12 years ago (I'm 35... I was 22) bc a drunk driver hit us both head on at 115mph. I've had 12 surgeries. I can't work atm bc of my spinal fusion causing seriousness pain. There TRULY are problems in the world WORTH your intelligence level! THIS is NOT one of them. Do some GOOD darlin. You'll look back & realize you lived a life full of FEAR & didn't actually LIVE at ALL. SO many things are bad for us. We're just AWARE NOW bc it's 2016. Just live, I assure you it's the best advice you'll get in life. Or the biggest regret that you never had the chance to get to know what you could have been if you DON'T take it! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this kill wasps coming fown my chimney |
Answer: | I would screen your chimney. But yes it will kill them the unit would have to be close to the opening. Note this makes a loud pop when a bug gets in the gris. NOTE: Bugs fly in front of the grid but does not get in it. I took a piece of furnace duct metal, cut a square init with a 1" flange sticking out the back , mounted a small bathroom exhaust fan to it. I then mounted the fan and metal plate to the back of the unit. the fan now sucks the bugs into the grid. Makes a 300 to 400 % improvement in bug kills. ( I should get a sizable royalty from the manufacturer for tilling them how to improve it.) |
Question: | I'm considering buying this 40watt version machine but would like to know how long have you used your bug zapper and do you let it operate |
Answer: | Yes I run it 24/7. I have had this zapper for nearly 4 months now and will never do without it during the bug season in Iowa! I have it in the kitchen where the flys and nats love to be. It snaps rather loud when a bug gets in it and that startles people who are not used to it. At night when it is dark the bugs are really drawn to it and eliminated by morning. It has made a huge difference for me as I don't like to use bug spray in the house. |
