12 best raid ant traps
Raid ant traps are products designed to effectively control and eliminate ant infestations in and around homes. Raid is a well-known brand that offers various pest control solutions, including ant traps. Here are some key points about Raid ant traps:
Baits and Lures: Raid ant traps typically contain a bait or lure that attracts ants. The bait is formulated to entice ants to enter the trap, where they will consume the poison.
Poisonous Bait: The bait in Raid ant traps usually contains a slow-acting insecticide. This allows the ants to carry the poison back to their nest, effectively targeting the entire colony. The delayed action is designed to ensure that the ants have enough time to share the bait with other colony members.
Easy to Use: Raid ant traps are designed to be user-friendly. They often come pre-filled with the bait, and users can simply place the traps in areas where ants are commonly found.
Indoor and Outdoor Use: Raid ant traps can be used both indoors and outdoors. They are suitable for placing in areas where ants are entering the home, as well as in locations where ants are trailing outside.
Targeted Ant Species: Different Raid ant traps may be formulated to target specific ant species. It's important to choose the right product based on the type of ants causing the issue.
Effectiveness Over Time: The effectiveness of Raid ant traps may take some time to become apparent. As ants carry the bait back to the nest, the entire colony is targeted, leading to a reduction in ant activity over the course of several days.
Preventive Use: In addition to addressing existing ant infestations, Raid ant traps can be strategically placed as a preventive measure to stop ants from entering certain areas of the home.
Caution for Pets and Children: While Raid ant traps are designed to be safe when used according to the instructions, it's important to place them in areas inaccessible to pets and children to avoid accidental ingestion.
It's crucial to carefully follow the product instructions for the specific Raid ant trap you are using to ensure proper and safe application. If ant infestations persist, seeking professional pest control advice may be necessary.

To kill common household ants, simply place TERRO Liquid Ant Baits stations near indoor areas where ants are spotted. Ants enter the trap, consume the liquid ant bait and return to the nest where they pass on the bait to the rest of the colony. TERRO Liquid Ant Baits are specifically formulated to allow worker ants to consume the product and survive long enough to carry the liquid back to the nest and deliver a dose to the rest of the colony . The liquid ant bait stations prevent the bait from drying out and provide the ants with a continuous supply of liquid, day and night. Monitor the baits regularly for activity, but do not interfere with the ants or baits. Replace with additional baits when the first set is depleted. Depending on the size of the ant infestation, complete control may take up to two weeks.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why is the pricing so weird? It's actually 2x more in bulk! Did someone make a mistake? Sorry for the rhetorical question, silly vendor person |
Answer: | It has to do with who the actual "seller" is. If you select a quantity of "1", in this case, it is "sold and fulfilled" by Amazon. If you select a quantity of "2" it is "sold" by another company while still being "fulfilled" by Amazon. Yes, both quantities are, as of this writing, "fulfilled" by Amazon but that just tells you that Amazon stores, packages, and ships both items(1 and 2 packs) even though there are, in reality, two different "sellers". If you click back and forth on the quantity selector you'll see the "sold by" name change. Look just under the price after you switch. The seller of the 2 pack sets the price whereas the seller of the 1 pack(Amazon) sets its own price. I'm sure Amazon buys the 1 pack in very large quantities and, therefore, can get a bigger discount, per piece, than the other "seller" can get, per piece, for the 2-pack. |
Question: | How safe is this product in the kitchen? We have a few ants crawling around our kitchen sink and would like to place one of these bait stations on our kitchen counter. Bad idea? Thanks |
Answer: | This is a generally safe product according to my research. Make sure to read the packaging and follow direction. (FOR INDOOR USE READ THE FOLLOWING) One lesson I learned the hard way: the sugary syrup is irresistible to ants, even though it is laced with poison. This means when you use Tarro, you're actually providing access to free food! The poison will work on the ants and it takes about 18-24 hours to kill them... but as you wait after 24 hours, Tarro syrup will attract other thriving colonies into your home. They'll follow the same rich trails laid behind by the previous colony and even scavenge on the carcases of the previously fallen colony. This cycle will continue, attracting ants from far away reaches and allowing them to setup massive colonies within your home. This is especially true with Argentine ants (available throughout the world), which form massive colonies with multiple queens - a trait unique to this type of ant, whereas others will battle for territory. So the lesson learned is simple... once the initial 1 or 2 swarms die down, remove all baits and all forms of food from open spaces in your home; patch up all openings in walls, baseboards, cracks around windows, etc; apply perimeter pesticide around your home; and look for signs of wandering ants in the next week. If you see more ants then you missed an opening and already have an established colony in your wall.... repeat!! Just don't leave out Tarro and keep replenishing, especially in the case of Argentine ants. |
Question: | Is this safe to have around pets? I have a curious cat |
Answer: | I'd say no. My cat knocked one of these over once and licked the syrup. She was fine but it wasn't a fun afternoon (trip to the vet, etc.). Terro sells a version of this that encloses the bait in plastic and has sticky squares to attach them to the floor, counter, or other surfaces. I use those instead now. |
Question: | I have a baby in the house and I would like to use this product to kill ants in my house. Any precautions you suggest before I use this product |
Answer: | The ant trails at my house sometimes go from the floor to the ceiling. I turn the bait so that the liquid will not run out and use Scotch tape to tape it to the wall next to the ant trail. I tape the bait high enough that babies and grand children cannot get to it. It usually takes two days for the ants to disappear. Then three days after they disappear, they return to the trap. Another two days and they disappear again. The second time they disappear is usually the last time I see them at that location. |

TERRO Liquid Ant Baits
Ants can be a problem anywhere – in the home, at work and everywhere in between. To kill common household ants, place TERRO Liquid Ant Baits in areas where they attract foraging ants that take the bait back to the nest. As the bait circulates through the colony, it kills the ants you see and the ones you don’t. The new and improved snap-off tab makes the stations easy to use. To open the bait, hold the station vertically and twist the tab. This opens up the station and allows ants to access the bait. Place the entire station on a flat surface, keeping the ant bait inside the station. Plus, the closed bait stations prevent the bait from drying out to provide the ants with a continuous supply of liquid, day and night. Note: complete control may take up to two weeks.
How Liquid Ant Bait Works
Since this is a bait, initially you will see more ants – but don’t worry, this is a good thing. Why? As ants forage for food, they are easily attracted to the sweet, sugary liquid inside the bait stations. After finding the bait, worker ants consume it and leave behind a pheromone trail leading back to the colony. This trail lets other worker ants know where the newly discovered food supply is. This is why you will see more ants in the beginning.
Meanwhile, the active ingredient, Borax, is slowly interfering with the ant’s digestive system, ultimately killing it, but leaving enough time for the ant to go back and share the dose with the rest of the colony. This slow kill is necessary so that foraging ants can make several trips to the bait. The communal nature of an ant colony allows the bait to be spread to hundreds, if not thousands, of individual ants.
How to Use Liquid Ant Baits
TERRO Liquid Ant Baits are very easy to use. Before placing the bait stations, be sure to remove other sources of food, such as crumbs, sugar and grease spots to prevent attracting ants elsewhere. Do not place bait where you’ve already sprayed insecticides, as the pests may avoid the bait stations.
- Hold the bait station firmly with bait pack tab facing up. Break off the tab being careful not to spill the bait.
- Place the bait station label side up on a flat surface near signs of ants. Place additional bait stations anywhere they may enter your home. For best results, use all bait stations to ensure a sufficient supply for the ants.
- Monitor placements regularly, but do not interfere with the pests or bait stations. Replace when bait is depleted. Complete control may take up to two weeks.
- Once ants are controlled, replace the baits every 3 months to keep them from returning.

User questions & answers
Question: | How many traps come in this box |
Answer: | No, but don't let that be a major concern. It has been my experience the roaches will go to the bait. Maybe they can smell it or something. If you are really concerned, put some of that tape that has two sticky sides on the bottom of the bait. We put ours in drawers, under appliances and behind furniture. We especially targeted the kitchen and baths. You will also have to keep your grass short otherwise the roaches can hide there. Also, keep all leaves and other debris swept from all outside walls of your home. Be especially careful about spilled water and food crumbs.Other than that, check the bates every week. If it is getting empty, replace it. They sent us a lot of the bates.Good luck.Yvonne |
Question: | Do you have to inject bait from a syringe into the product |
Answer: | I had the same experience with these roach bait arenas from advion, completely ineffective. What worked wonders for me was the combat roach bait traps that kills the nest. the only roaches I've seen after putting down the combat roach traps are dead ones. Problem solved. |
Question: | Does it work on ants |
Answer: | My renters have lived in the house for over a year with approx 72 of these in the home in that time. No complaints. Just make sure you follow the instructions for safety and placement. |
Question: | Does the bait in the traps become ineffective after a while? I bought some a while ago and there’s still poison in them |
Answer: | I have not used this product, but I did use the syringe version of Advion Roach Gel and it worked amazingly for large flying roaches. The results lasted several years. If in doubt about the size of the opening, there is another option. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these the same design as described (the original that worked well ) or are they the changed design mentioned in some recent negative reviews |
Answer: | I received the new design. I personally like the new design, choosing to use the option of separating the perforated traps into smaller strips therefore increasing the number of locations to place a single strip. However, this new design also gives you the option to tent the strip as the original design. Terro is the only product I've found to successfully monitor and trap brown recluse spiders that are otherwise hard to kill even with harsh pesticides. |
Question: | How big is each trap |
Answer: | The standard tri-fold trap, prob 6” once folded. |
Question: | Is fall season right time to leave traps outside home |
Answer: | You can put thses outside but if they get wet they are cardboard. I use them in the house to spiders and such. These are the best! |
Question: | How many traps per 12'x10' room? Or how many feet between traps do you recommend |
Answer: | We do not have specific recommendations as to how many traps are needed per room as this would vary depending on the number of insects or infestation and where their favorite hiding spots may be. There is no limitation to how close together or far apart they should be. Simply place in the corners of the room, along walls, and in other areas where insects or spiders may crawl or make webs. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do I tell If they are empty? Unlike the indoor traps they are not clear |
Answer: | The trap should be replaced every 3 months. |
Question: | We haver grease eating ants. Is this the right product |
Answer: | Terro says product is for "Attracting and killing all common household ants including Argentine ants, ghost ants, cornfield ants, pavement ants, acrobat ants, white footed ants, little black ants, odorous house ants and other sweet eating ants." Terro is a sweet bait; grease eating ants are attracted to protein. They might go for Terro; however if protein sources are still to be found in your house they will probably ignore the bait. I haven't had a problem with grease eating ants, but I understand that from folks who have that the Combat formula is better for attracting grease eating ants. You can also make your own baits for grease eaters by mixing boric acid (a white powder you can find in drugs stores or hardware stores) with peanut butter. Just make sure that the bait is out of reach of kids and animals (I have used boric acid/watermelon bait successfully with sweet-eating ants. However, it can only be used indoors, as sun dries it up and rain washes it away.) Good Luck! |
Question: | Will this work on fire ants |
Answer: | Yes absolutely I had the worst ant problem I have ever seen when I moved into my new home. They moved in because of a drought in Texas. The first two days I did not see much of a difference and was about to write a bad review, but I had to go out of town, I left and when I came back the next week there were no more ants, not a single one, in fact it has been almost a year and I still haven't seen one inside or outside since. This stuff is amazing. Also my dog ate 2 of the yard baits we were worried he would get sick but he was perfectly fine that's a plus also. |
Question: | Will these work for carpenter ants |
Answer: | Carpenter ants infest every tree on my property and I found them foraging inside the garage (very bad news). Mostly for the garage, but also because I have one very nice pin oak, I placed 2 of these just inside the garage door and at the base of the tree and within 1 month no more ants. So, I guess it works on carpenter ants. However, if you use the trap per the package instructions the carpenter ants are too large to enter. What you do instead is push down and rotate as instructed to puncture the internal pouch then very carefully lift the cup back up to its original position and snap it into place. This opens the trap all the way around an the carpenter ants can enter. I intend to buy more as it works on almost every ant on my property. And that's a lot of different types of ants. You might also try Bayer Advance 375A. Its a protein based poison and if the ants don't have a sweet tooth that day they go for it. The terro traps make excellent bait stations for the 375A once the liquid is gone. |

TERRO Outdoor Liquid Ant Baits
When it comes to ants, baiting should be your first choice. Try TERRO Outdoor Liquid Ant Bait Stations. These large bait cups can actually be used inside or outside and work to eras the entire ant colony. Sweet eating, common household ants will run to the baits and carry the bait back to the Queen of the colony. Once the Queen has received the bait, the rest of the colony dies off.
Simple to Use
These pre-filled ready-to-use bait stations convenient and easy to install around your home or yard where ants have been observed. Stakes are included to secure the stations on various surfaces, including grass or gravel. Use without the stakes indoors in the home, basement, or garage as well!
What Type of Ants?
Luckily, most ants are sweet eating and love out bait. Our TERRO Liquid Ant Bait works with all common household ants including: Argentine ants, ghost ants, cornfield ants, pavement ants, acrobat ants, white footed ants, little black ants, odorous house ants, crazy ants, big headed ants and other sweet eating ants.
How it Works
When it comes to ants, always try to start with baiting. Unlike contact killers, which only target visible worker ants on your property, these baits include slow-acting ingredients that have a delayed effect on the ant's digestive system. This allows ants to feed and return to the colony where they can spread the bait to the young and queen. During this time, the number of ants may increase as they swarm to feed on the sweetened liquid before they begin disappearing altogether.

User questions & answers
Question: | does it kill sugar ants |
Answer: | Yes! |
Question: | Will this product kill tiny ants? Also, will it get rid of the entire colony what is already nested in your house? Thanks |
Answer: | It kills every ant on your property if you use it right. It was more effective than my pest control companies stuff. Been using it for years. I am back here to order more. Don't use before it rains and use the whole product as it will degrade if you open and let it sit. |
Question: | Has anyone used this around lizards or squirrels? Or would anyone use it around these critters |
Answer: | I have used this product for a couple of years now. It works great. I sprinkle it around my home and around my yard perimeter. I have not seen a decrease in the gecko's/lizards so I assume they are ok. I don't think squirrels are attracted to it either. The product works great for about 45-60 days. |
Question: | My ants ignore this bait completely. They are not interested in sugar or p.n.butter either. What's the solution |
Answer: | Amdro perimeter bait is a preventive solution for around the outside of the house to prevent ant from coming inside. If you already have ants in your home, try a different solution...such as Terro Liquid and bait. They shouldn't ignore that. You will have to put up with an ant trail for a couple of days, but they will go away. |

Why is Bait Better?
Bait is considered one of the most effective methods for killing ants. Bait works even when you can't find the nest and unlike contact pesticides, bait can wipe out the entire colony by destroying the queen.
Bait is designed to taste like food, so it is enticing to ants. Once worker ants find the bait, they bring it back to be shared with the queen and the rest of the colony. Once the queen and other ants eat it, the whole mound dies.
As a means to ensure that the bait is shared with all the ants in the colony, there is a delayed reaction before the bait begins to take its full effect and kill all the ants in the colony. Therefore, bait is considered to be more effective than contact killers since bait is shared with the entire colony, while contact killers will only kill ants that come into contact with the product.
With AMDRO, it's game over for ants.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does Ant Bait take to work?
The active ingredient in AMDRO works with delayed action, ensuring worker ants have time to share the bait with the colony. Typically, the bait will begin to kill the queen within one week of application and will kill the colony within two weeks of application.
What is the best way to treat for ants I found inside my home?
If there are ants already inside your home, we recommend doing two things. First, use one of the AMDRO Kills Ants products listed for indoor usage above to kill the ants that are already inside. Second, apply AMDRO Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait granules around the outside of your home to prevent ants from getting inside.
Do I have to reapply granules if it rained after being put down?
For best results, we recommend not applying the product when the ground is soaking wet or when heavy rains are expected.

Between the carpool and the couch cushions, you’re the CEO of the home front. Take care of your family – and take care of business, no matter where household pests rear their ugly heads. Show bugs who’s boss with Hot Shot insecticides. They’re your weapon of choice, giving you the clear advantage within your walls and at the bank. Save the day. Hot Shot Ultra Liquid Ant Bait is extremely attractive to ants because it combines a food source with the water source they need, while delivering a lethal dose that can quickly eliminate the entire colony. The Advanced Liquid Bait Technology can be used both indoors and out. Ants enter the home in search of water and are most often found near water sources. An ant can live for a long time without food but cannot survive even one day without water. Ants find the bait fast and then die—this product is designed to kill the queen and the entire colony as fast as 24 hours. When using indoors, place bait stations where ants have been seen or in out-of-way places near walls in cabinets, under sinks and refrigerators and in closets. Heavily infested areas may require additional bait stations. Examine bait stations once per month to verify that bait is still present in the station. This product will not control carpenter, pharaoh, harvester or red imported fire ants. When using outdoors, place one bait station along each ant trail around the outside of homes. Place stations in areas inaccessible to children, pets and other nontarget animals. Heavily infested areas may require additional bait stations. Hot Shot(R) Ultra Liquid Ant Bait
How it works: Ants enter the home in search of water and are most often found near water sources (i.e.: kitchen and bathroom). This is because an ant can live for a long time without food, but cannot survive even one day without water. This bait is extremely attractive to ants because it combines a food source with the water source they need, while delivering a lethal dose that can quickly eliminate the entire colony.
Pull Tab
Indoors/Outdoors: Pull tab located on side of bait station to break seal on the vial containing the bait.
Place Bait Station
Indoors: Place bait stations where ants have been seen or in out-of-the-way places near walls in cabinets, under sinks and refrigerators and in closets. Heavily infested areas may require additional bait stations.
Outdoors: Place one bait station along each ant trail around the outside of homes. Place stations in areas inaccessible to children, pets and other nontarget animals. Heavily infested areas may require additional bait stations.
Examine
Indoors/Outdoors: Examine bait stations once per month to verify that bait is still present in the station. Replace bait stations every three months or sooner if empty bait stations are found. This product will not control carpenter, pharaoh, harvester or red imported fire ants.

User questions & answers
Question: | It seems too high off the floor for ants to crawl in, is this a problem |
Answer: | I did not see that as a problem. I saw very small ants getting to the bait. After a couple of days the ants were no longer around. |
Question: | Can these be used outside |
Answer: | I'm not sure about outside but it works great on the inside. |
Question: | Does it work on fire ants |
Answer: | I have used this product inside the house only - and that was on sugar ants. I have not tried it for fire ants, but I doubt it would be effective. My experience with fire ants is that there are so many in a mound they would probably fill up the trap in a few minutes and the others would walk right over them! |
