Answer:	It has to do with who the actual "seller" is. If you select a quantity of "1", in this case, it is "sold and fulfilled" by Amazon. If you select a quantity of "2" it is "sold" by another company while still being "fulfilled" by Amazon. Yes, both quantities are, as of this writing, "fulfilled" by Amazon but that just tells you that Amazon stores, packages, and ships both items(1 and 2 packs) even though there are, in reality, two different "sellers". If you click back and forth on the quantity selector you'll see the "sold by" name change. Look just under the price after you switch. The seller of the 2 pack sets the price whereas the seller of the 1 pack(Amazon) sets its own price. I'm sure Amazon buys the 1 pack in very large quantities and, therefore, can get a bigger discount, per piece, than the other "seller" can get, per piece, for the 2-pack.

Answer:	This is a generally safe product according to my research. Make sure to read the packaging and follow direction. (FOR INDOOR USE READ THE FOLLOWING) One lesson I learned the hard way: the sugary syrup is irresistible to ants, even though it is laced with poison. This means when you use Tarro, you're actually providing access to free food! The poison will work on the ants and it takes about 18-24 hours to kill them... but as you wait after 24 hours, Tarro syrup will attract other thriving colonies into your home. They'll follow the same rich trails laid behind by the previous colony and even scavenge on the carcases of the previously fallen colony. This cycle will continue, attracting ants from far away reaches and allowing them to setup massive colonies within your home. This is especially true with Argentine ants (available throughout the world), which form massive colonies with multiple queens - a trait unique to this type of ant, whereas others will battle for territory. So the lesson learned is simple... once the initial 1 or 2 swarms die down, remove all baits and all forms of food from open spaces in your home; patch up all openings in walls, baseboards, cracks around windows, etc; apply perimeter pesticide around your home; and look for signs of wandering ants in the next week. Answer:	I'd say no. My cat knocked one of these over once and licked the syrup. She was fine but it wasn't a fun afternoon (trip to the vet, etc.). I tape the bait high enough that babies and grand children cannot get to it. It usually takes two days for the ants to disappear. Then three days after they disappear, they return to the trap. Another two days and they disappear again. The second time they disappear is usually the last time I see them at that location.

Answer:	I have used Terro and I have found Optigard to be considerable more effective. What has worked well for me is to identify where the ants are coming from, and where their trails are. I then place a bead of about 1/2 inch, or so, near the entrance and on the trails. (If you are concerned about about pets or children touching the gel you might cut one inch pieces of drinking straws and put the bead of gel inside those) The ants are quickly attracted to the gel and you need to leave it alone. The ants will take the gel back to the nest and use it to feed the queen and the young ants. They will quickly die (a couple of days) and once the life cycle of ants is relatively short a dead queen means ne new ants. I've had really good results doing this.

Answer:	The active ingredient found in TERRO® liquid ant bait is a Borax. Borax has a low toxicity for people and animals, but ants are another story. When ants consume the Borax bait, it interferes with their digestive system and gradually kills them. Question:	Does each bottle of Terro have an effective shelf life? Haven't had this bottle more than a year or two and yesterday they ignored it like the plague
Answer:	This product does not have an expiration date as the borax inside does not diminish over time. As long as the product is still in liquid form, it will still be effective. If the ants are ignoring the bait, they may not be looking for sweet foods at this time and other methods of removing them may be necessary.

How Does It Work?

TERRO Ant Killer is a bait product, so at first ants will come in large numbers, but they will soon disappear. The product is specifically formulated to allow worker ants to consume the product and survive long enough to carry the liquid back to the nest and deliver a dose to the rest of the colony.

Eliminating the Colony

Leave the product undisturbed while the ants are actively feeding on it and be sure to eliminate all other food sources in the area. This will ensure that the ants aren't tempted to eat anything but the deadly liquid ant killer.

Baiting enables you to get rid of both the ants you see and the ants you don't! While the active ingredient in the bait will ultimately kill the worker ant, it interferes with the ant's digestive system and works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the ant bait with the rest of the colony. This slow kill is needed to allow time for the foraging ants to make several trips to the bait and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony.

How To Use TERRO Ant Killer

Tear the 'Place TERRO Here' cardboard squares from the ant killer packaging along the perforated lines and simply apply the product directly from the bottle onto the square. Small pieces of paper, cardboard, or foil also may be substituted.

Monitor Placements

The key to effectively eliminating the ant infestation is to monitor the placements and ensure there is always a fresh supply of TERRO Ant Killer for the ants to feast on. Depending on the size of the ant invasion, complete control may take up to two weeks.

The More Bait Placements, the Better

Place the product where ants are seen, such as the edges of sinks, tubs, window sills, under food cabinets, along floors and baseboards and in corners. Do not skimp on bait placements; the more bait placements, the better.

Q: I just placed several squares of TERRO Ant Killer in my kitchen and it's attracting more ants, not killing them! What's going on?

A: You have nothing to worry about! Initially, you will see more ants. As ant foragers look for food, they are attracted to the sweet liquid in the bait which they consume and carry back to feed to the rest of the colony. On the way back to the nest, the ants drop what it called a 'trail pheromone', letting the other ants know where the tasty food supply is. In turn, these ants follow the trail to the bait which explains why you initially see more ants

Q: I've been using TERRO; Ant Killer for the past few days. When should I remove the bait stations?

A: We recommend leaving the bait out for three to four days after signs of ant activity diminish. If no more ants appear, remove the bait, relax and enjoy being ant-free!

Q: The ants in my kitchen are avoiding the TERRO Ant Killer – can you explain why?

A: As long as the bait is in liquid form (has not hardened or thickened) it should be effective because the active ingredient does not diminish over time. The ants may have found another food source, by seeking a grease-based vs. sugar-based food, or be in the breeding cycle of their colony and not interested in eating.

Answer:	Presumably (but not verified scientifically) YES as it kills the Pharaoh ants which ARE established as the toughest common household ant species to kill.

Answer:	I don't know if it can be diluted and sprayed, but that is unnecessary regardless. All you need do is deposit some of the gel from the syringe in a few spots along the ant's trail, at the base of the tree and higher (it should stick to the bark). The ants will be all over it. They'll bring it back to their nest for the queen. Give it a few days, and you'll be pleased with the results!

Answer:	According to information on previous review the active ingredient is Fipronil. According to Wikipedia "It is a slow acting poison. When used as bait, it allows the poisoned insect time to return to the colony or harborage. In cockroaches, the feces and carcass can contain sufficient residual pesticide to kill others in the same nesting site. In ants, the sharing of the bait among colony members assists in the spreading of the poison throughout the colony. With the cascading effect, the projected kill rate is about 95% in three days for ants and cockroaches. Fipronil serves as a good bait toxin not only because of its slow action, but also because most, if not all, of the target insects do not find it offensive or repulsive." Regarding whether the attractant is "sweet" or "protein" -- I really don't know; however, the ants that we killed had been attracted to sweet thing.

Answer:	Actually, it is NOT Dupont that bought Syngenta. I did my homework too(April 2018) and see that as of 11 months ago, Syngenta was bought by ChemChina which is a chemical company owned by the Chinese government. I wonder if that is the reason people have started complaining that the product has not changed from an odorless gel to a horrifically stinky liquid. I bought this before with GREAT success (and I read up everywhere about its safety), but now...not willing to take the chance that I am putting some reformulated and maybe dangerous chemical in my house.
