Answer:	When you unpack the umbrella, the instructions tell you to twist off the solar panel on the top and attach the plug to the one in the umbrella. This will allow the lights to turn on and off. Also while you have the solar panel off, make certain it has batteries inside the two slots. Question:	I have a place for an umbrella to go directly in the pool. Will the pole hold up if in water
Answer:	There are pre-drilled holes. I love my stand! My deck gets a lot of wind and three different stands could not hold the umbrella! This one does hands down. And for further stabilisation there are two knob screws in the pipe that keeps full control. I do cover the top with a baggie over the winter or when an umbrella is not in it. A very good buy!

Answer:	Yes it fades a lot, but so reasonable in price. I just replaced a red one I purchased last year. Wind took it out. I got another red one. Las Vegas sun is brutal.

Answer:	I'm not sure about 10-15 mph wind, but in my experience, no patio umbrella will withstand strong wind. Always close it when it's not in use!

Answer:	No, it does not have a velcro strap. I use a small bungee cord to keep it closed although I really don't think it's needed. Great umbrella for the price.
