Answer:	Probably shouldn't. That's by design so the movement of the canopy doesn't stress the frame. I suppose you could glue it together, but then you can't lower it.

Answer:	Yes, that is what I did with mine. I even cut the legs shorter and drilled new holes because there is no reason for the long legs if you bolt/screw it to the deck. Do the best you can to fasten it to the joists, the deck boards themselves may not be strong enough...and don't use wimpy hardware.

I purchased the sand bags weights to support the cross base also it is a little wonky without it make sure level ground is chosen for placement

Answer:	They are shipped together but you will need to put the umbrella (attached to top pole section) into the base pole section. Easy peezy!

Answer:	Tilts but not designed to rotate. However, if you don't tighten the two knobs halfway up the base pole, you can lift the umbrella up half an inch so that its anti-rotation rod does not seat down into the two slots on the base. Then you can rotate it as much as you please. However, without the rod engaged, the two knobs probably can't hold it against a crosswind, so you won't want to leave it this way long-term.

Question:	Do you sell replacement parts? Our pole snapped in half 2 weeks after we got it. This is with sand filled weights
Answer:	I don't personally know where you can get replacement parts, however, we reinforced our pole by disassembling and inserting a chain link fencing post (cut to size) inside the main pole. It has helped significantly with bending and more stabilization. Hope this helps. Good luck! You might try contacting the manufacturer directly and explain what happened. Never hurts to try!

Question:	Why does base have a long arm in one pic and not the other
Answer:	It does have a long arm & one shorter. It does look that way because the angle of the picture at the moment it was taken. So basically the long arm gives more stability to the weight of the umbrella.
