Then, move the roll-up string off of the blinds, trim (middle of the glued area), replace the string. Maybe secure-glue the cut areas again. Anyone have any cautions about this plan?

I have seen a few Sellers on eBay advertise "similar" motors on eBay with an incomplete set of parts, they claimed the parts will work with Aleko Awnings, but the parts were for a different manufacturer/model . Aleko mainly provides tech support for items purchased from their company based upon customer info found in their company database. I suggest you need to be sure the Seller is authorized by Aleko to sell their kits and parts, otherwise tech support and warranty concerns may not be available when you need them.

Mine came with no instructions; customer Service sent me the wrong instructions when I called them; And, once I found the closest instructions a lot of little details were missing. My awning is the three arm with a cassette that you cannot find instructions for. Customer Service sent me instructions for a two-arm cassette but there are wa lot of nuances to adding a third section. FYI, the 16’ x 10’ model is what I purchased. Good luck!
