The back has several angles and can sit up to almost 90 degrees. The foot part is either up or down. It is light, easy to carry, set up, then fold back up. I use it in my backyard to sunbathe to get my vitamin D while reading. The opening is great for reading while laying on my stomach. The only downside is that I think it is an uncomfortable lounge for sitting in any position. The fabric is a little slippery, so there's no traction to keep you in place when sitting in a semi-reclined position, especially with the foot section down. This is well worth the price for sunbathing while laying flat on your stomache or back.

Answer:	I use this chair indoors and out on a patio and it’s great! I would guess that it would work just as well in sand because once it’s open, you can recline and reposition yourself while the base remains stationary. Don’t know if the sand would scratch the paint though.

Answer:	It's about a foot off the ground.

Answer:	It says 300 lbs. in the description. It's a very nice chair and I love mine. I weigh 140 lbs. and there is no sag in the chair when I get on it.

Answer:	No. The chair comes completely assembled in a plastic bag inside of a cardboard box. Just unpack, unfold, affix Velcro bumpers, and use.
