Answer:	Yes, my garden has a lot of clay. It handles it easily. The only thing that stops it is small rocks which wedge in the rotor. The are easily freed by a quick hand twist. Had it through two seasons and no problems.

Answer:	Hi Jamie,The TJ599E has just one speed, with a push button safety and trigger on/off switch. The RPM is a guesstimate of about 150 RPM. The "cowl flair" just above the tiller blades acts like a mud flap, so it doesn't throw dirt backward. And as you tilt the handle more horizontal the back flared area prevents the tillers from going deeper in the ground. It is well built, great for a small garden or raised bed. I felt comfortable enough with it's control to use it close to plastic sprinkler pipes in my raised beds. It was designed for residential tilling, not for commercial tilling clay or dry hard ground. Ivy or roots can wind around the blades causing you to stop and untangle them. The one noted negative I found was the strength you have to push the safety button with your palm before pulling the switch in. It is on the left side, so being left handed, it is not easy to push it in. OTOH, it is a safety switch, for safety. Hopefully it will loosen up with use.

Question:	Can tines be removed for narrower tilling area
Answer:	yes, but...the tines are an assembly of 3 held to the shaft with a through bolt. If you removed one assembly you could till with just one side, but the tiller is still over a foot wide and the empty shaft is still sticking out even without the tines. this is a powerful machine, I would look at a lighter, narrower tiller if you want to do a more narrow area.
Question:	Is 13.5 amps too much for a 15 amp circuit
Answer:	You will be fine on a 15A circuit. Recommendations from the manufacturer are 14/3 (14gauge 3conductor) extension cord for up to 50ft and 12/3 extension cord for up to 100ft. Total length should not exceed 100ft however I'm sure a 10/3 extension cord would be fine for more than 100ft but a 10/3 extension cord would be very expensive. Please be aware that the tiller pulls the most current with the tines are digging deep in the soil and the motor is bogging down and under extreme strain it's possible it might pop the breaker on a 15A circuit.

Answer:	depends on what type soil you have. My 13.5 amp will till our Missouri soil.after a rain, sun baked like concrete

Answer:	There's an easy way to calculate the power of an electrical motor. First you multiply the volts times the amps to find the total power in watts, in this case 120 volts times 13.5 amps equals 1,620 watts. Next, you figure in an average 85% efficiency for electric motors to get 1,377 watts. (It's fair to assume this low-cost AC appliance uses a typical AC induction motor which is probably more like 80% efficiency, and the manufacturer doesn't claim anything better, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt since there are some electric motors that exceed 95% efficiency.) Then, you consider that you'll always be using this while plugged into an extension cord. Answer:	I live in a heavy clay area. I have found that the tiller works better if the ground is wet. It also has trouble going around the roots of grass. However, if the gravel is loose, I see no reason it wouldn't work.

Answer:	It depends on how hard packed the ground is. It works for me weeding in my already tilled garden. Does not work very well on hard ground. May be able to rough up enough for grass seed.
Question:	How does it work in rocky soil
Answer:	Been using ours for years in hard clay like soil with rocks, some huge. It has worked great. Every now & then a fairly big rock will get stuck in it and I need to work it out. However, finally after all these years of brutally beating the tiller, the tines are becoming weak. One broke last summer and another this summer. Still works good but we are searching to replace them. Most places appear to be out of stock. My husband has been planning to weld them back. But if we can find replacements, we are just going to buy new ones and save broken ones in case we need to repair them at a later date. They may discontinue product or someting so we will have them to fix if & when needed. I highly recommend for small/medium jobs. I use mine to till grass areas where I make new flower beds and also in our vegetable garden to weed around plants. My husband just said they evidently quit making the replacement tines as every site that shows they sell them is out of stock. Hopefully, he will find someone that has them. Otherwise, I guess he will be welding old ones. Will also hope that it works when he does. It has been a huge blessing for me. It is very easy to handle and carry ( and I am 68 and have some health issues, am very weak). Hope this info helps ya'll.

Answer:	Some of the plastic heads will break and I would imagine some of the metal heads could be damaged. This machine is powerful but very easy to handle. I really like mine and it is easy to handle in tight places. Plastic pipes will be severely damaged if you hit them.

Answer:	One speed - and don't lug it down to slow the rotation or you'll most likely destroy the electric motor.

Answer:	That's what's recommended. Don't listen to those who say they used a cheap, low gauge cord and "nothing bad happened". Just because the motor didn't burst into flames doesn't mean it wasn't running hotter than normal and being unnecessarily stressed by low amperage. Tiller work is a tough job for an electric motor, so don't make it harder by supplying less than adequate current.

Answer:	DO NOT use just any cord as others have stated. Using a cord that is too light reduces the amperage supplied to the motor which can harm it. From website https://www.askthebuilder.com/extension-cords-size-chart/ Any 16-gauge cord between 0 and 100 feet long will adequately handle tool loads up to 10 amps. Any 14-gauge cord between 0 and 50 feet long will adequately handle loads between 10 and 15 amps. If your tool load is between 10 and 15 amps and the length of the cord is 50 to 100 feet, you need a 12-gauge cord to safely power any tool. There is a whole lot of other good info on that site about extension cords that is worth reading.

Question:	We have a lot of clay mixed in with our soil and can get pretty hard. Anyone use this tiller to break up clay
Answer:	I've done a lot of gardening. I have clay soil so I either amend it or replace it with a mushroom soil mix and everything loves it. Pertaining to the clay soil which I was faced with the challenge of removing in the beds before replacing it and I mean to tell you trying to get through it dry you may as well be trying to dig up cement. (hyperbole) I learned the hard way about the easy way to do it. Use a sprinkler many hours before you dig or rototill it and deeply moisten the ground. After the water settles in and you now have soft soil, not wet, and not dry hard you can use this roto tiller to dig through it. The more moisture, the easier it is to dig, but if it is wet working in it is a mess. It won't take you long experimenting to see just what the right degree of moisture is and how long it takes to apply and let set up.

Question:	What is the difference between the 27072 model and the 27012 model. Is one just a newer version
Answer:	i called Greenworks directly on this exact question, I owned the previous model 27012 and while it dug up my lawn for fescue reseeding in 2012, it wasn't that effective with kick backs at time and generally harder to use.New Model 27072 is significantly improved, no more curved V bar, staight for better stability, the back wheel positioning is better, the RPM's have increased still being a 8 amp motor and the weight decresed by 4 lbs 26 now not 30 as before. Tines the previous model tines were more cultivating vs tilling, 6-8, new model more till spike 10-12.
Question:	Will this work in rocky soil
Answer:	Yes - it works well in rocky soil. The garden bed I bought it for had a lots of small rocks, some broken pottery, pieces of brick!, trash and a bunch of roots from some dead shrubs. I found that the tiller will freeze up whenever I hit something it couldn't handle. I would just let go of the bar, clear the tines if needed, and continue tilling. It even helped me clear the roots of the dead shrubs so I could finally get it out of my flower bed!

Answer:	Some instructions from the manual are wrong. The manual tells you to do something and the diagram showing you how to do it is showing you something different. I was very confused, so I called the help number in the manual, and they confirmed that this was wrong, and told me how to do it correctly. The procedure was actually very simple, and the people helping me were patient and explained clearly how to put it together. It was all done in a few minutes. The tiller works well, I have used it many times, and it is strong and durable. It does a good job.
