Answer:	There is screen plus a gasket in the inlet side of the individual solenoid vavles for the Orbit model 58911. If the screen becomes clogged or they are old and the gasket is breaking down then it can restrict water flow. You mention a Melnor timer in your question but never say what model it is. Your Melnor model may be manufactured differently. Perhaps you should post your question with the specific model you are interested in or at the very least provide the model number.

Answer:	Yes. We set ours up again (3rd season) this weekend to water grass seeds. Zone 1 starts and runs for time you specify (mine is 5) then shuts off. A moment later Zone 2 starts and runs for the specified time (mine is 5) then shuts off. It’s nice because each zone gets full water pressure and the sprinklers reach their max distances.

However, if you have high water pressure within your house these types of nozzles work ok, but if your water in your house is low, don't expect much from these types of nozzles. If you are needing a significant increase in water pressure I suggest investing in a gas or electric powered pressure washer.

There is also another way to increase the strength of your water flow; by using a 1 inch I.D. Water Hose. Calculate the cross-section of a 5/8 in. hose to a 1 in. hose. It's 2.6 times more. It will be like having a fire hose at home!!

Generally, the range reached will depend upon mostly on your water pressure at the business end of your hose and how far above ground you hold the nozzle - the higher the pressure, the farther the reach. Answer:	It will turn completely off. I personally bought brass shut off valves to go with it. It is much faster shutting off the shut off valve than the little bug shot.

Answer:	I also disagree with the hater. Make no mistake if you are starting with crappy water pressure this is not going to give you power washer performance. I will say I have 5-6 different water nozzles and if I want something that has the best pressure or cleaning power this is hands down the one I reach for. I have good water pressure but some nozzles restrict the pressure to much. I just bought a rather expensive one from HD thinking it might be better ( I was wrong). While its smoother operating it cuts the pressure dramatically Im going to estimate about 30% over this one. The little big shot is simple strong and cheap compared to others for the performance you get. I will be putting these on all my hoses. If I had to nit pick it I would say it takes more turns than I would like to go from one extreme (fine mist to power blaster mode) but I will happily deal with that for its power output. PLus its made in the US by disabled vets....
