Answer:	I just received my Quilo 14000btu unit and set it up. It's not quiet. When the fan is running, well, it sounds like a fan. That's okay. But when the compressor kicks in, it has a low frequency annoyingly grumbling noise like the old time refrigerators did when the compressors got worn. Would I prefer the noise over being stuffy-hot inside? Yes. Would I prefer the noise over being a little uncomfortably warm? No. For the record, I also just purchased an Emerson Quiet Kool 8000 BTU unit. It's a lower power compressor, and it's half as noisy. I wish I had bought the Emerson 14000BTU unit for the front room instead of the Quilo, but to tell the truth, I don't know how the noise of those two 14000BTU units compare. And they're too expensive to just buy them to test out. It's odd that the Db ratings are louder for the Emerson, but the actual experience is that it's quieter. We'll see how well they cool this summer.

However the splitter can split a log that is 4-5 inches wide easily and my guess is if you use a good sized sledge hammer you could split up to 6 or even 7 inches. Large logs also can be split in thirds. This is a great tool for the wood shed, especially for those with fire pits etc.

Answer:	It does NOT split vertically. The maximum length it will split is 19", but it will have a hard time splitting green wood. Best to season the wood for at least 12 months, unless you have a kiln to speed up the process, then you can split it.

It comes standard as 120V, but the motor is a dual voltage motor that can be wired for 120V or 220V. Only a qualified/certified electrician should ever handle the motor or wiring. The electrician will need to re-wire the motor and install the appropriate power cord and plug for whatever 220V application is requiring.

Answer:	Nope, China. Looked all over for an electric made in USA and found none, so went for this based on reviews. Shame but you have to go with gas to find one in the US, at least one that is not 4 figures and electric.

Answer:	Its basically 2 pieces: The Wedge and the shaft are one piece and the outer sleeve/handle/driver are one piece. The only thing keeping them together is a single bolt/set screw. If you back out the set screw far enough, you can seperate the outer sleeve and inner shaft/wedge. To "replace" the wedge, you would have to cut it off and weld a new one onto the shaft.
