Answer:	It might be best to ask the manufacture, but I spray wd-40 after every use and have done so for over a year with no apparent problem.

Answer:	As long as the main stalks are quite sturdy and you allow the blades to do their job and cut rather than forcing them and causing it to tear and rip it should work fine. for the more grassy style leaves, no.
Question:	is blade able to be sharpened
Answer:	With the way the blade is configured, I don't think the blades could be sharpened without it being a very long and tedious procedure. After cutting back some jasmine that secretes a sticky liquid at the cut, I wiped off the blade with water and a towel and then sprayed the blades with WD40 and found that this improved the proformance of the blades.
