User questions & answers

Question: Does it install well with a queen size bed
Answer: You will have no troubles installing the EZ Adjust Bed Rail on your queen size bed. There is a quick assembly and installation video on the product page. Click on one of the images and then a media box will appear. One of those videos is the Stander Assembly video. If you still have questions after that feel free to call us at 1-800-506-9901!
Question: Does the strap have to go around a bed frame or can you secure it around a mattress
Answer: Bed frame would be the most secure, however, around the box spring under your mattress would work. I don't have a box spring under my mattress so I secured the strap around the opposite side of my wooden frame.
Question: Will this work with customatic "privia" adjustable bed frame with no box spring, mattress only
Answer: I looked up what a privia bed was. Not sure this would work. It has two pipe arm to slide under the mattress and straps that go around the box springs to keep it secure. It is a good product in the correct application. I feel you should keep looking.
Question: We have a Craftmatic adjustable bed. Does the EZ Adjust Bed Rail work on this type of bed
Answer: Should be able to, but you must install differently than the enclosed instructions. The rail is secured to the bed by straps that are supposed to loop around the bed's foundation. With the automatic bed, you must loop and tie the straps around the moveable base directly under the mattress NOT the foundation. This keeps the bed rail secured to the bed without interfering with operation and movement of the mattress and base. We are using it on a Tempurpedic adjustable twin bed and works great for what we need. The mattress base is metal on this model, so straps are very secure, just had to fiddle with excess length for a while. No problems with it all.

User questions & answers

Question: How do you make the bed with a complete bedspread
Answer: The rails are against the sides of the mattress so any bedspread/blanket that hangs over the sides of the bed will "bunch up" at their location. I sacrificed perfectly made bed for personal safety. I straighten the blanket from the bottom of the bed to the rails then fold the blanket back on itself.
Question: Hello! Can It be connected to the ajustable bed frame
Answer: yes, I have an adjustable bed and it is secured to the frame and does not interfer with the movement of my bed.
Question: Is the under-mattress frame adjustable? If so, what is the shortest it can be adjusted
Answer: It connects to the boxspring on the other side of the bed with a strap that is adjustable. It is a great buy. My mother was falling out of bed once a week in her sleep. This has solved that problem. I highly recommend it.
Question: how many do you get
Answer: I bought one because I only need the protection on one side of the bed. You will need to decide if protection is needed on both sides or not. Oh, and I continue to be so pleased with it. Strong, durable and was easy to install. Hope this helps!

User questions & answers

Question: does this assist have a strap to hold it to the springs or bed frame
Answer: I don't recall it having a strap. If it came with one, we didn't feel a need to use it. The frame attached to the bed rail goes far enough across between the mattress & box springs that a strap isn't necessary. My MIL has a queen size bed, and this rail has worked great.
Question: Does anyone have direct experience with using this with a sleep number bed? There are different answers here. Thank you
Answer: I do not have a sleep number bed. However, I can not imagine any problem, unless the bed/ mattress folds. Then, there might be a problem, if you want the bar to extend over the fold. If you place the entire bar on the level part of the mattress, it might more difficult to get out of bed. Some other responders say they have Sleep Number Beds and there is no problem in using this product. If their beds fold upward raising your head and upper torso, then there would be nothing for you to worry about. This bar is a great help. However, it is more difficult to make the bed then than without the bar structure.
Question: My platform bed is 14 inches from floor to bottom of the mattress. Does this adjust to that low
Answer: My bed is approximately 14 3/4 inches from the floor to the bottom of the mattress. There is some adjustment available on the legs when you set it up. I think it should be fine.
Question: Is the part that goes under the mattress a solid piece or is it an open frame like the visible part
Answer: The piece that goes under the mattress is a tubular frame. Your body weight holds it down. I'm a big guy, yet this bed rail is very strudy. Overall, a great product.

User questions & answers

Question: How do I connect the pocket
Answer: Can anyone else answer this question? There is no snapping in place mechanism on my pocket and it is evading all logic how it’s supposed to work. The otherwise great instructions don’t give any details on the pocket attachment.
Question: What is the difference between the 6800BA and the BAH
Answer: Hello,The 6800BA is for a quantity of 3 and the 6800BAH is just for a quantity of 1.Thanks
Question: What is the overall HEIGHT of this bedside assist when installed
Answer: Depends on the height of your mattress. It comes about 15 inches over the top of our mattress. I has been a literal lifesaver for us as my husband can hold on to it to pull himself up and to get his balance before standing up. Before the Medline Assist Bar he slid out of bed many times and had a very hard time getting us without assistance. Now he can do it himself! Saves straining my arms to help him. A real lifesaver!
Question: One person said this would fit a queen size bed, another noted extra stapping was needed. Which is it
Answer: We have this on a king size bed, my husband says he didnt use any extra strapping to attach it to the bed. Hope that helps! There are times we have to push it back in because depending on how much, how often and which way you use it it can start to slide out from between the box spring and mattress. Its not a big deal though though im only 5'1" and have no problems getting it back in place by my self.

User questions & answers

Question: It look like the distance between the horizontal rails and the grab bar is fixed. What is the distance between the horizontal rails and the grab bar
Answer: The grab bar height is actually adjustable. It looks like the grab rail is ABOUT 34" - 39" from the floor. I do not have it installed, so that may be off a little. I can't install it because the legs (even though ajustable) are too tall for my older box spring & frame. Before it can work at my house it would have to fit between the box spring and mattress. My mattress is a little over 14" off the ground. The legs are about 16" tall at their lowest, so installed, the stabilizing bar lifts the mattress off the box spring top. That is a rough measurement because I can't lift the mattress by myself to get the stabilizing bar back in there. Lost my helper to the surgery for a while yet - so I can't be exact. No lifting here at all for a couple more weeks. Sorry about that. It would be a good idea for the right bed. Maybe the manufacturer can give the exact measurements. The adjustable ranges are not printed in the documentation. Unfortunately I tossed it all as well as the box so I can't help with manufacturer's name either.
Question: What is the weight capacity for this and will it prevent falling out of bed as well as help getting up
Answer: I don't know what the weight capacity is, my husband is 6'3" and weighs 215 lbs and it works for him. As far as falling out of bed, it depends on where you place it. It definitely helps getting in and out of bed. My mom is 91 and we have one for her as she falls out of bed frequently and she hasn't fallen out singe installing it on her bed.
Question: Is it possible to place this with the legs inside the bed frame instead of the outside? I'm concerned my dad would trip over the legs
Answer: The legs do not stick out but sit right up next to the bed frame if you put the device up under the mattress far enough. My mom loves hers. Helps her turn over and sit up on the edge of the bed. She uses a walker also and there is no problem with the device interfering with the walker.
Question: What is the lowest it can be adjusted to? How far does it insert under the mattress
Answer: The lowest adjustment to the handle height is sixteen inches (16") from the floor to the box mattress, the highest is 20 plus inches (20" plus). We have a low profile box mattress (13" from floor) so it didn't work. It goes under the mattress 32" to 40". I could see where this item would work very well with a higher box mattress (16" plus from the floor) and therein lies the problem for us.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work with no bed frame? My parents have a king mattress and box spring that sit on the floor
Answer: I don't think so. You need to be able to swing the rail down without hitting the floor. Also you need to anchor the strap to something on the other side of the bed.
Question: I have a full size adjustable bed so my back & head can raise as well as my legs, the bed is just 1 yr/old & i need to know if this one will work
Answer: The two bottom bars go under the mattress to hold the apparatus in place. The mattress needs to be planar between the two bars, So it depends on where the mattress bends for your back/head support and for your leg support. You will need at least 30" of planar mattress between those mattress hinge points and either the head end or the foot end of the bed (probably the head end for best use). I would want at least 32-34" of planar mattress to make sure the bottom bar closest to the end of the mattress doesn't slip off. It's OK if the top of the bed slants up for support, as long as the mattress stays planar between those bottom bars.
Question: We have a firm memory foam mattress. Will this product work if we have a box spring underneath
Answer: Yes, it will... in fact it would be difficult to use WITHOUT a box spring or platform. The support bars go between the mattress and the box spring (or platform) and there is a strap which attaches to the metal bed rail on the opposite side of the bed, to keep it in place. Ours works very well.
Question: Will this work with a queen size bed
Answer: We purchased this for our KING size bed and the strap that attaches the safety rail across the box spring and to the bed frame is a very good length. Yes, this would work for a queen size bed or any size bed as long as you pull the strap tight enough to your bed's frame. You have enough length to fit any size bed and our bed rail is the best purchase we've made for my disabled husband. He no longer EVER falls out of bed and that is a blessing.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this fit on a regular adjustable bed frame
Answer: It is only going to work on hospital or home care style bed with a metal frame to attach to.
Question: How wide is the clamp that fits to the frame
Answer: The clamp is adjustable in width. Here is the instructions manual that shows how the clamp works. http://cdn.drivemedical.com/media/files/125/15208BV_hangtag.pdf
Question: If no tool needed for installation, and rail rises with position of bed, how does it stay on? To what does it connect
Answer: It connects to the frame of the bed via a pair of clamps that you adjust with a knob. They're a little awkward at first but they worked very well for us and were sturdy as long as they're clamped down nice and tight.
