Answer:	I would MOST DEFINITELY NOT put this on a wood deck. The product developed holes in the fire pan and embers fell through. Luckily my fire pit is on a concrete slab so not major damage other than ash burns. If it was on a wood deck the deck would be gone.

Answer:	So long as the adapter is the same then it will be fine w a smaller tank. The base however may be more narrow or the same? I’m not familiar. I think the tank is only shorter, hence would be fine
