Question:	My pump stopped working and when i pulled it out it started smoking. what do i do?it dosent turn on at all
Answer:	Return it to the manufacturer. I've purchase two of these pumps and they worked for a few weeks then they stopped. They were replaced but the replacements only lasted a few weeks. I have a smaller one that I purchased as a backup for when I purchase new kois, don't know if that is still coming on. I believe you meant "outtake" and not "intake" since the "intake" (where it "takes" the water in) is located underneath the pump itself, no hose, no pipe?

Answer:	You can use any size tubing with the proper adapters however one must remember that using a small diameter tubing will increase the resistance and turbulence through the tube thus greatly reducing its flow capacity (its a logarithmic function). These types of pumps can handle high resistance on the output side however not at the input end so hopefully you are only referring to choking down the output and are willing to sacrifice the huge drop in flow as a result (note: expect a large pressure increase, similar to putting your thumb over the end of a water hose).

Answer:	Hi Steve, the gph of any pump depends on the head pressure working against it. The Cyclone PAL3100 pumps 3100 gph at zero head. It pumps 2,251 gph at 5' of head, 1390 at 10' of head and 479 gph at 15' of head (according to the manufacturers literature). Head is roughly calculated by adding three things together, 1' of head for every foot of height from the surface of the pond to the highest point that the water will be pumped (if you could measure it straight up), another 1' of head for every 10' of tubing length, and another 1' for every sharp turn or obstacle like a UV unit or a 90 degree elbow). Answer:	I have the same issue, even though this is advertised to come with another 3/4" nozzle without the air intake, it didn't, it came with a 1" nozzle (separate from the intake one). I've contacted the seller but if it is not resolved ASAP I'll have to return it for one that comes with the appropriate advertised nozzles, as I need it ASAP for my pond to replace a failed pump.

Answer:	I am rather certain it is 1". I am assuming you are referring to the thread size. Again I believe with good comfidence it is 1: NPT. Although an assortment of barbed nipples comes with the pump. I used 1" corrugated hose to service my old fashioned cast iron hand pump at the top of my spillway barrel. The pump supplies so much water that I had to dial it down to the minimum setting!

Answer:	I'm not sure that I fully understand you question and so to answer I'll tell you what I've done. The pump itself is approximately 9.5" high. The top part being the outlet pipe. I've set the pump on the bottom of the pond which is 22" deep. I have attached to the outlet pipe a hose that leads the water up to my waterfall which stands about 5' above the outlet pipe. My pond holds approximately 750 gals and the pressure from the pump is more than adequate. Hope that helps.

Answer:	TetraPond Water Garden Pump, I got the 500 to 1000, which might be a little too powerful, a lesser one will probably work. TetraPond Pond Tubing, 1-Inch by 20-Feet. The waterfall one that I bought first was this one, and it is very good, better than the smaller one you picked out, TetraPond 26596 Waterfall Filter, Up to 1000-Gallon. As far as lilies go depends on how big your pond is. Lillies can be found in and around ponds nearby where you might live. Or they can be purchased at some Garden stores that sell plants, that kind of place, and often in the spring time is when they do most of their sales for pond. The ones I buy usually last for the season, and they do grow and expand. Also, depending on how big and where your pond is you may need a UV clarifier, and can be hooked in with the pump you select. This will keep your pond from looking like pee soup because of algae.

Answer:	No! Not big enough. I put filter material in mine and it backed up and my pond was empty the next morning. Immediately took it out of my system. Bought a much bigger waterfall designed to be a filter and installing it now.

Pond Pulse Series Models Flow Chart

Minimum pump size is determined by pond type, water volume, head height and friction loss. The minimum pump size recommendations are:

Circulate total pond water volume every 2 hours.

Example: 2,000 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.

Circulate total pond water volume every 1 hour.

Example: 3,800 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.

Circulate total pond water volume every 3/4 hours.

Example: 2,000 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.

Dynamic head pressure is found by taking the vertical height of your waterfall; the distance between where your pump is (typically in the skimmer) and where your waterfall is, and adding the static head pressure (pipe and fittings) 1’ for every 10’ of tubing and 1’ for every elbow or “T” fitting.

Example: 3' (vertical height) + 2.5 (25' of tubing) + 2' (for 2 elbows) = 7.5' of Dynamic Head Pressure

Note: It is important to take into consideration while calculating how much flow will be at the top of your waterfall by accounting for the head height due to the laws of fluid dynamics. Please refer to the flow chart above to help choose the correct pump.

Question:	will l this work with a 500 gallon pond and waterfall
Answer:	This is a good pump for a small pond, my pond is maybe 700-800 gallons. The big thing is the lift or how high is your waterfall is. My waterfall is about 4 feet high and this size pump will run it well along with a bubbler made out of a 1/2" pipe in another part of the pond and it rises about 8" above the water surface. Good luck
Question:	Will pipe connection work with PVC threads
Answer:	when I got mine, I had to go to Home Depot and buy a PVC pipe and connector to work in my pond but I am not sure about a threaded PVC set-up---hope this helps
Question:	what filter should I buy to go with this? my pond is about 200 gallons and will have fish and plants at some point
Answer:	I bought this filter for a 1500 gallon pond with a waterfall with a 2 ft head and it pumps too fast and noisily. I think you might look at pump recommendations for a smaller pond. Nancy

Answer:	Not sure - I'm using it in a pond to send water through a filter so not really using it for a waterfall....

Question:	What are the dimension of the solar panel
Answer:	This size of the panel is about 18 inches by 12.
Question:	Do you need to charge the battery first? How do you knowits fully charged
Answer:	Charging the battery doesn't do anything, I even went as far as to order an additional battery in an attempt to make the pump run through the night, it lasts a few hours after sun down. The battery backup feature is useless
Question:	Does the battery charge off of the solar panel or does it need to be plugged in and charged
Answer:	We set up solar only and it ran pretty good, but didn't stay, so plugged in for about a day to charge, then just solar and it has run well from just solar power since then. It does not have enough charge to run all night tho. Starts back up when the sun comes out. Have owned since Christmas. Gift for my mom and she loves it.
Question:	How long will it run on battery with no sun
Answer:	I'd say overnight and part way into the next day. At some point the pump cycles on and off

Question:	we prefer to use the tube to make a waterfall (not a fountain). Is that possible with this unit
Answer:	this unit is very powerful - in my opinion, it has enough output to handle a waterfall. make sure you have extra filters on hand or make sure you regularly clean the filter that comes with the unit - it prevents a world of gunk from clogging the impellers inside the pump, especially if you have fish.
Question:	Our pond is 3 feet deep. If I bought extra extension tubes, is the pump powerful enough to push the water over 4 feet to make a fountain
Answer:	my pond is 2 ft deep, and it works well in my pond, but I'm planning on making mine deeper to 3 ft next month, I would think it would be fine but I'm not 100% sure.
Question:	can power cord be removed
Answer:	No the power cord as I view it cannot be removed.
Question:	With the 2 extension tubes attached to the pump how deep of water can the pump be placed in
Answer:	Here is an update on the pump.. I purchased a bigger pump that does 1350 gpm at Harbor Freight it is on sale for 59.00 and is 1/6 hp. I needed something stronger for my water fall tubes which is a total of 6. I may use this pump just a fountain feature. Its a good pump, but for my application, I needed something a little more powerful.
