I have read where you can leave them on or turn them off during winter but I usually leave mine on up until the first freeze. I do insert a hose in the pond with the tip sticking out of the water to release gases that get trapped when the pond freezes over. Hope this helps.

Question:	My pump stopped working and when i pulled it out it started smoking. what do i do?it dosent turn on at all
Answer:	Return it to the manufacturer. I've purchase two of these pumps and they worked for a few weeks then they stopped. They were replaced but the replacements only lasted a few weeks. I have a smaller one that I purchased as a backup for when I purchase new kois, don't know if that is still coming on. I think that there is a serious problem with these pumps I would definitely never purchase these again

Answer:	I am rather certain it is 1". I am assuming you are referring to the thread size. Again I believe with good comfidence it is 1: NPT. Although an assortment of barbed nipples comes with the pump. I used 1" corrugated hose to service my old fashioned cast iron hand pump at the top of my spillway barrel. The pump supplies so much water that I had to dial it down to the minimum setting!

Answer:	I'm not sure that I fully understand you question and so to answer I'll tell you what I've done. The pump itself is approximately 9.5" high. The top part being the outlet pipe. I've set the pump on the bottom of the pond which is 22" deep. I have attached to the outlet pipe a hose that leads the water up to my waterfall which stands about 5' above the outlet pipe. My pond holds approximately 750 gals and the pressure from the pump is more than adequate. Hope that helps.

Answer:	Mine is a 1200 GPH pump. My 24 " deep pond and bog are about 1800 gallons. I can tell if a penny is heads or tails on the bottom.

Answer:	the pump I opened was a 150 liter as I didn't have a 120 liter handy at the moment, but what is in the box is a brand new air pump with power cord suitable to plug into a standard 115v household outlet, a manual, a registration paper, a small tubing adapter (black) with two clamps and packing material. Answer:	Thanks for your question. Yes this pump needs to be protected from rain and snow. The Atlantic TAKIT0800 is an aeration system comparable to the PondAir 4, but it's compressor carries a 3 year warranty and has a weatherproof housing. Question:	Can this pump be adapted to solar power
Answer:	Thanks for your question. The biggest issue with adapting any type of pump to solar power is that solar panels have an output of a DC electrical current. Even if your equipment puts out the correct wattage most pumps still operate on AC current. So if you get a DC to AC inverter that solves the issue. However without power storage the pump will only run when in direct sunlight and in the case of an aeration system that is far from optimal. So yes it's possible, but there's a lot of small issues that make it very inconvenient and potentially expensive. Answer:	Yes, there is a 6 foot power cord attached to the compressor that will plug into a standard 120-Volt GFCI protected outlet. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord may overheat if the cord is rated for less amperes or watts than the unit rating.

Question:	we prefer to use the tube to make a waterfall (not a fountain). Is that possible with this unit
Answer:	this unit is very powerful - in my opinion, it has enough output to handle a waterfall. make sure you have extra filters on hand or make sure you regularly clean the filter that comes with the unit - it prevents a world of gunk from clogging the impellers inside the pump, especially if you have fish.
Question:	Our pond is 3 feet deep. If I bought extra extension tubes, is the pump powerful enough to push the water over 4 feet to make a fountain
Answer:	my pond is 2 ft deep, and it works well in my pond, but I'm planning on making mine deeper to 3 ft next month, I would think it would be fine but I'm not 100% sure.

Answer:	Here is an update on the pump.. I purchased a bigger pump that does 1350 gpm at Harbor Freight it is on sale for 59.00 and is 1/6 hp. I needed something stronger for my water fall tubes which is a total of 6. I may use this pump just a fountain feature. Its a good pump, but for my application, I needed something a little more powerful.
