Answer:	What I did was to lower the mast after mounting the plate to the eave and attach the sensor unit, then returned the mast to the vertical position. I plan to do that to clean the rain sensor and to replace the batteries when required.

The WeatherMount is constructed from powder coated steel and includes a galvanized aluminum mast. This mounting system is strong, durable and stable. The slender design is simple, unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing. The base can be adjusted to mount on any pitched roof. Works great with any weather station.

Mounts Almost Anywhere

The WeatherMount Weather Station Mount is a flexible mounting alternative to a mounting pole or tripod. The mounting plate provides a fast and easy installation, and can be mounted on a pitched surface, flat roof or vertical surface, such as a gable.

The small base footprint 4-3/4 x 7 inches (mounting footprint 3.75 x 6 inches) allows four 1-5/8 inch lag screws (included w/ Tar Pads) to be easily mounted at the apex of your gable. The mount angles 12 inches in the horizontal direction to allow clearance of eave or roof overhangs.

Made of 18 gauge 1008-10 steel tubing, galvanized using the Flo-Coat (zinc-chromate-polymer) process for excellent corrosion protection. The total height of the WeatherMount and mast is approximately 50 inches.

Mounting Options

Add one or more mast extensions (EZ-125-35M) to increase the height of the mounting assembly by 35 inches per mast.

Wind: the wind gauge should be mounted four times the distance of the differential height of the tallest obstruction.

Question:	the model numbering confuses me: this 2000 model seems to have more features, better screen than the 2902A that Amazon also has? any other differences
Answer:	The only external antenna terminals are for AM. You say "dipole", so it sounds like you want to listen to FM. On the other hand, even though the FM antenna is only 22.5 inches long when fully extended, the review here indicates that it works better than the longer antennas of other portable radios (ref. - https://radiojayallen.com/c-crane-cc-3-cc-2e/). All that said, I would rather not take a chance and, instead, get a radio with the same 5 star FM rating (on RadioJayAllen) that has an external FM antenna connection. You can check out the others, but I do own the Sangean HDR-18 and it is a great radio for distant reception on AM and FM. But, it only has one speaker. If you want stereo, you would connect to the REC OUT jack and run it into amplified stereo speakers.

Mounting Rules of Thumb

Wind: the wind gauge should be mounted four times the distance of the differential height of the tallest obstruction.

Example: House = 20 feet tall, pole = 5 feet tall.

Distance = 4 (20 - 5) feet = 60 feet away from house.

Temperature: Mount at least 5 feet away from any radiation source (building, ground).

Ambient Weather EZ-245-SK 24 inch Stake Kit

The stake kit consists of three 1/4 inch (1.27 centimeters) diameter, 24 inch long, solid steel spikes with a welded cap on one end.

The spikes are designed to be driven into soil, through holes provided in the Tripod foot pads.

This installation technique effectively anchors the tripod in light to moderate wind, or serves as a temporary installation method.

If high winds are anticipated, or a permanent tripod installation is required, it is recommended that the tripod be connected to a concrete pad or other permanent base using bolts and guy-wires.

Apply the pitch pads to each leg of the Mounting Tripod for roof mount installations.

Includes 3- 3 inch Tar pads, 6 ¼-20 Lag screws.

Ambient Weather EZ-GWA Guy Wire Kit

The Guy-wire Kit contains 50' of plastic coated, steel guy-wire cable, and all hardware required to secure the guy-wires to the top of the tripod mast, and the bottom of the tripod legs.

Alternatively, the bottom connection can be made to eye-bolts set into a concrete pad, or other fixed structure.

The guy-wire kit is designed for permanent installations, or for tripod configurations with two extension poles, or for locations that experience sustained periods of very high wind.
