User questions & answers

Question: Is it compatible with the iPhone
Answer: Yes. It has a USB port. You would use the cable that came with your iPhone 6 that connects to your computer or AC charger.
Question: Will this work with nimh
Answer: Yes, but this does not recharge the battery. However, you can put rechargeable batteries in the radio and it works fine.
Question: If listening to a local fm station, will it break through for an emergency alert from an noaa channel
Answer: No, it does not have a standby alert function. You would have to tune to your local broadcast to listen for any alerts. This would require a digital tuner, and the alert function is not practical as it consumes batteries quickly. We suggest this radio:http://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-WR-299-Compact-Emergency/dp/B00NP76QN0which does have a weather alert feature.
Question: How well does the WR 77 charge a cell phone? Does it charge fully and if it charges a good amount does it use up 4 aa batteries to do so
Answer: I have never done this. I would imagine that if the batteries are fresh, you should get enough of a charge to operate the phone for a little while.

    User questions & answers

Question: I need to attach this to a chain link fence. Will this work for that
Answer: It will work if you get new bolts for the u-bolts. My u-bolts came with self-tapping screws that I screwed into wood to hold the pole upright. You would need to go around a post of the chainlink-fence with u-bolts that are through-bolted. Its a fairly easy mod that will make the kit work for you.
Question: What is the inside diameter of the pole
    Answer: I measured the I.D. = 1.150 inch.; O.D. = 1.265 ; wall thickness = nom. = 0.055.
Question: Can you attach it to a pole on a carport
Answer: It has two U-Bolts that will screw into a vertical surface. You did not say if this pole is metal or wood or concrete. It would work fine in a wood pole but not a metal pole. I prefer this unit:http://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-EZ-30-12-Stable-Mounting/dp/B003EAANBOor http://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-WEATHERMOUNT2-Station-Mount/dp/B003EABEWQ/over the EZ2-35 because it is offset from your carport pole and will not pick up radiation heat energy from your pole. You can always email me [email protected] and send me an image.
Question: Is the horizontal bar included
Answer: No, that is a mock anemometer.

    User questions & answers

Question: Is this essentially a Meteobridge Pro
Answer: No. This is a standard meteobridge device. Not the "Pro" version.
Question: The setup instructions don't mention the three position switch on the side of the WEATHERBRIDGE. What is the switch functions
Answer: Check out the TL-MR3020 for sale on this same site and you will have your answer about the switch. It appears that they used an already available hardware package for building the weatherbridge to help control costs.
Question: Will this work with the Original Davis Vantage Pro and Weatherlink data logger as well
Answer: I'm not sure what model the "original" are. I have 6510USB data logger and 65100 Vantage Vue. Works fine, not interruptions to Wunderground weather since installed. New WunderStation app works with this set up and tracks stats as well.
Question: Will this enable reporting of Wind Gust and Precip. Rate from a Davis VP2 and WeatherLink IP data logger? My current setup omits these 2 data sets
Answer: Yes! Here http://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KCOBLACK20 is my VP2 and Weatherlink page which shows the gust and precip rate data. Click on "About this PWS" to see VP2 and Meteobridge (the Weatherlink software).

    User questions & answers

Question: Can i use 2 separate display consoles with the ambient weather ws-2902? i'd like to see readings in 2 different areas of the house
Answer: I have two display consoles and it works great. One upstairs and one on ground floor. I can see both on-line and on phone via app. I set alerts in case HVAC issues, which is great benefit as well. I ordered WS-2902A-CONSOLE-KIT which is what you need.
Question: Can it only be line of sight
Answer: Wireless devices transmit a radio frequency (RF) signal, generally in the 400 – 900 MHz range. The manufacturer will rate the maximum transmission distance as line of sight. However, the signal will transmit through walls and other obstructions. The following is a table of reception loss vs. the transmission medium. Each “wall” or obstruction decreases the transmission range by the factor shown below. Medium RF Signal Strength Reduction Glass (untreated) 5-15% Plastics 10-15% Wood 10-40% Brick 10-40% Concrete 40-80% Metal 90-100% RF will not transmit through metal barriers. If you have aluminum siding or a metal roof, it is unlikely the RF signal will transmit through this barrier. RF will not transmit through earth. For example, if the receiver is placed in the basement, and the earth or ground is obstructing the line of sight transmission, it will not receive the signal. Interference can be an issue. In general, wireless internet, phones, security systems and other low power devices have little interference effect. Ham Radio and other high power applications may lose data when transmitting. Helpful Hint: Wireless phones transmit at similar frequencies and power levels as wireless weather devices. If you have a wireless phone (not a cell phone), place the receiver where you would place the weather station receiver and attempt to use the phone where you would place the transmitter. If you can not use the wireless phone, it is unlikely the weather station will work either.
Question: Is the outdoor sensor "hi quality"? I have had 2 Acurite outdoor sensors electronics fail in a 1 Yr. I am a full time Rv'r / camp in any weather
Answer: My Accuwrong failed in the 13th month and support from Accurite was horrible at best. I had an Amibeint for over 10 years but the ws 2902 is not working, they sent me 3 replacement units all with the same issue, NOT TRANSMITTING.
Question: What differentiates this from higher priced options like the ws-1002-wifi? Software connectivity doesn't matter to me. Are the sensors lower quality
Answer: No, they are of equal quality. The console on the WS-1002-WiFi is much nicer with multiple screens and TFT display. This is LCD with color film. The WS-2902 is a very capable unit.

    User questions & answers

Question: How can i operate two consoles with their own remotes? i currently have one, i want to add one more. total 10 sensors (5 per unit
Answer: I have had 8 remotes for 7 months with standard alkaline batteries, had to change only one set since. If placing in hard to get to locations you may want to consider lithium ion batteries.
Question: What is the range & accuracy of the humidity sensors
Answer: I don't think so. The list of compatible devices doesn't seem to list the WS-50. You might check with Ambient Weather for a definitive answer.
Question: Is it possible to write my own software to pull temperature and humidity data from the console via USB
    Answer: Yes it will work
Question: what memory size sd cards are supported
Answer: Over a period of time, high humidity and condensation may have an effect on the electronics of the remote sensor. It is not weatherproof. I would place the unit in a sheltered location or in an enclosure that would limit exposure to direct moisture. Replacement remote sensors are relatively inexpensive at about $14. I have extensive experience with electronics.
