Besides, to get the same readings as reported by the local airport or National Weather Service, you have to adjust it to compensate for your precise altitude above Mean Sea Level. You do this by adjusting the calibration screw on the back to match what the nearest weather station barometric pressure, which is already adjusted to the local altitude. Altimeters are actually barometers. The higher you go the lower the pressure. So if you don’t adjust the lower pressure to show what the barometer would read if you were at sea level, the readings would be meaningless as far as “lows” and “highs” are concerned. The adjustment is delicate so you need to tweak it back and forth over a period of time until it consistently matches up with what your local NWS station reports. |

Answer: | Mine was snug too when I first got it and there are times when it isn't. My guess is there was too much humidity there is in the air. You can give it a couple days and see if it shrinks down or try and take some sand paper and open the cut out a little. |

Answer: | Thank You! I have had this for several years now and the globe's water had evaporated. I too, lost the instructions. Use distilled water to prevent any hard water build up. I put the globe on its side with the glass tube upright sitting on a sponge. That way, the end bottom was lifted an 1/2 inch or so, and fed the the syringe tube to the bottom, that way, the air escaped and it was easy to fill. Took about 4 syringe fillings. |

Weather glass of course can not be as reliable as scientific weather station, nevertheless, it does work. Unfortunately a lot of people have false assumption that if they place storm glasses inside their homes, they will work as intended. Just like any other instrument or machine you must have proper knowledge in-order to operate it correctly. The same applies to the storm glasses. They are being affected by the wind and outside temperature. If they are placed inside the house, they are only being affected by Heater and AC. As the result, they are not working correctly. Answer: | Place the storm glass in a stable area of your house or patio. Ideally, for best performance, weather glass needs to be near the outer air in order to function correctly since temperature difference plays a huge roll in it`s performance. We have found that the best place to put it is near a window sill or covered patio. |

Answer: | The ideal place would be somewhere outdoor (Patio, Deck, Balcony, Garden, etc). If you would like to place it inside then it is recommended to place the storm glass in a well-ventilated room, near a big window.
