Answer:	This is a great little tent. As for the footprint... anything will work. No need to buy a fancy footprint. A simple tarp will work. The thicker the tarp the better. A footprint helps protect the bottom of the tent if you are camping somewhere with lots of sticks or rocks. I took this tent on a 16 day trip down the Grand Canyon where sand was all I camped on so I never used a footprint once. The tent did great. If you are going in the woods a simple cheap tarp will do the trick. Plus a tarp can be used for other things besides just going under the tent. That is my opinion. Hope it helps.

Answer:	It smells very strongly and disgustingly like plastic at first. Whats up with all the friggn people on amazon who cant smell plastic?

Answer:	It's pretty tough I've been using it at a vapor barrier. On rocky soil. However puncture resistant. I would never say that about any tarp it's tough and packs down very small and light!
Question:	How much does the 70x84 weigh? Is it a good choice for backpacking
Answer:	This tarp is "very" lightweight, but seems pretty well constructed. I am actually using mine as a sunscreen replacement for my old 3-person outdoor swing and it works great (extra bonus is it really is waterproof!). I can't tell you how it will hold up as a groundcover, but it should okay. The corner grommets would be helpful for tie down or whatever. Definitely worth the price. Good Luck.
Question:	Should the size of tarp be the size of the inner tent or outer tent dimensions
Answer:	It kinda depends on your preference. Inner dimensions of just the base tent would be okay. That would protect the bottom from ripping, as well as protect you from dampness on the ground. However, if your tent has a rain fly that creates vestibules for your gear, you might want to account for that extra space with your tarp. Just depends on preference. You could always fold it up if it's too big, so I'd probably lean toward going a little larger.

The tarp I received has 4 woven strap corner straps, the corner of the tarp has a gusset across the corner the doubled over strap is 5 inches long with a grommet 2 inches out from the corner of the tarp. also at the middle of the tarp there is a small tie loop on both sides. nice tarp, have not used it in rain yet.

There is a water proof treatment so it is not fire retardant. As far as smell, with any memory product there will be a slight initial odor, that is why we recommend that you open the mattress and allow it to decompress and air out. I hope this helps.
