User questions & answers
Question: | I bought this product at Lowes and have not opened it yet but don't see a 'feeder' inside of see-through packaging. What do you attach corn to |
Answer: | The feeder is sold separately. The feeder has a screw that fits into a hole on the corn log. If your handy, it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to make one. There are several types but here is an example. http://www.amazon.com/Heath-Outdoor-Products-903-Squirrel/dp/B000GE52S0/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1418580716&sr=8-16&keywords=squirrel+feeder |
Question: | Are these made in the USA? If not, where are they made? Thank you |
Answer: | According to the packaging it is finely ground corn and other "fillers" DO NOT buy this product. We have many squirrels in our mini-habitat, and they stopped going near the picnic table for corn on the cob. They barely sniffed it, even the large birds, that love corn, won't go near it. We had to replace this with a bag of regular corn on the cob. However, there must be a scent of something from the "Sweet Corn" as the squirrels will not approach the new corn I KNOW they like. I will have to clean the entire feeder and put a real cob on it before I will know for certain that it was this product that was turning off our family of squirrels. It was 100% a waste of our money. I tried to hit it with a hammer, axe, etc. to break it up thinking I could at least throw it on the ground for critters, but it can not even be broken - so as I said BAD BAD product - the Animals say so! Oh it does say it IS manufactured in Iowa, USA. |
Question: | Is this for a total of twelve cobs |
Answer: | Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, I did get a total of 12 cobs in 6 packs of 2 each. I like it this way as they stay fresh. I am still using the cobs from my original order and they are still fresh. In the stores around me, the cobs were not fresh, some having bugs crawling all around and through the cobs. I will reorder from here when I run low. |
Question: | Has anyone noticed these either attracting pigeons, or that pigeons specifically seem to be uninterested |
Answer: | I have not noticed *any* birds attracted to this product. However, we have both suet and seed feeders in our yard, so the birds are well taken care of year-round, with the pigeons/doves groundfeeding beneath the seed-feeder |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone know what kind of holder i can purchase? i dont have a tree. most of the holders require attachment to something |
Answer: | We purchased a small "chair" that we attached to our patio frame. You could actually just put a post in the ground and attach it or put a nail on the post to set the log on. The squirrels love the logs!! It does need to be reachable by the squirrels. Good luck. |

User questions & answers
Question: | We’ve had the corn out for a week in the squirrels are touching it. Any ideas |
Answer: | It took a few weeks for them to realize it was there.....the chipmunks found it first, then the squirrels caught on. Now they fight over it. We have to replace daily. Put some corn kernels on the ground around it. |
Question: | My hamsters love corn cobs. Would these be to big for small domestic pets |
Answer: | I have never owned a hamster so I'm not sure what they can handle. Just know the corn cobs are a regular size cob. |
Question: | where is this shipped from |
Answer: | This ear corn is grown, harvested, sorted and shipped from our farm in Central Ohio. Yes, there have been a few bags with corn but we have since fixed the problem because we are now selling fresh crop. We strive to ship out all packages on time. Sometimes it is difficult because the post office is overwhelmed. Once we drop it off at the post office, it is out of our control. Thank You |
Question: | The squirrels are hungry!!! they’re asking where their corn is |
Answer: | LOL, love it!! Our squirrels are doing the same - we bought a picnic table as well and have it on the tree in the backyard. They love this corn!! By the way, thank you both book lover and Howard for answering my fly question. Much appreciated! :) |

Answer: | The bag states for ingredients cracked corn. But the guaranteed analysis states: 7% crude protein, 2% crude fat, 10% crude fiber and 13% moisture. I hope this helps you. |

Question: | We have wild ducks in a large pond. Can you throw this product in the water so the ducks can swim and eat in the pond itself |
Answer: | Yes if it's shallow water. the ducks will come and put their heads under water to feed. I use this with my kids to feed wild ducks in a pond near our house... about 6 inches to a foot of water where we feed them. But be advised, most of this product does sink to bottom. |
Question: | Is this GMO corn |
Answer: | The package list its ingredients as just cracked corn. It also list a section titled "Guaranteed Analysis". In this section it list the following information. Crude Protein (Min) - 7%; Crude Fat (Min) - 2%; Crude Fiber (Max) - 10%; Moisture (Max) - 13%. It also states on the packaging for this product the following statement, "Our uncompromising commitment to the highest quality, natural ingredients..." seems to indicate that this is not GMO corn. However, you may want to contact the manufacturer to be 100% sure of the genetic makeup of this product.RespectfullyAllen D. Haynes |

Food
Provide different types of food to attract more variety of birds. Sunflower is a great seed that many species love. Higher quality mixes attract more birds. Keep feeders full so birds will continue to visit.
Feeders
Provide a variety of feeders to attract the greatest variety of birds. Use hoppers and tube feeders for Sunflower and mixes. Use Finch feeders for Nyjer and Finch mixes. Platform feeders will accommodate ground feeding birds.
Water
Provide a shallow water source (2 inch-3 inch deep) so birds can bathe and drink. Water also attracts birds that feeding stations alone cannot, such as ones that feed on insects alone.
Location
Place feeders in locations already frequented by birds. Place by shrubs and/or trees to offer protection.
FAQ's
Make sure that your feeder is close to natural shelter such as trees and shrubs to provide protection for your birds, but be careful not to make it too convenient for squirrels. Also, place it in a location so that you can enjoy watching the activities of your feathered friends.
Should I feed the birds year-round?
Yes, birds need food year-round, so it is best to keep bird feeders full all year. Birds have a high metabolism and need to continually eat. Birds nest from late winter through late summer and during these months there is not an abundance of natural foods, so they need additional food for breeding and raising their young.
What is the best bird food?
Oil Sunflower Seed is one of the best seeds to have in a wild bird food mix. It is popular with a large number of species and is easy to feed in a variety of feeder styles. User questions & answers
Question: | Doo these cakes contain mostly corn |
Answer: | Yes 90 percent corn. |
Question: | Squirrels used to love these. but i have two out from the latest shipment and they won't touch them. could it be i received a "bad batch |
Answer: | I will say I've noticed more birds eating than squirrels but the snak cakes do get eaten. I was buying Bushy Tail Squirrel Cakes but they became unavailable (my seed store sent an e-mail that they are back in stock) so I tried these and so far so good. Automatic ordering is working well and price is comparable to Bushy Tail. |
Question: | I’m confused: are these cakes for squirrels or birds |
Answer: | They’re a seed/corn cake for squirrels. I hang them up in a holder similar to the one on the package and the squirrels love them. I also found that some birds will eat it as well, but it is sold as squirrel food. |
Question: | One cake is 2.7 lbs, is this price for 6 cakes (16.2 lbs |
Answer: | Yes, you get 6 in the box |

- Attracts squirrel, chipmunks and other backyard wildlife
- To load corn, squeeze hanger and swing open, reattach hanger and hang
User questions & answers
Question: | Does this hold squirrel logs |
Answer: | If you can get a screw into a squirrel log, you can use it. Not sure of the density or texture of the squirrel log. I have used mine only for dried corn cobs, which you can screw onto the feeder. |
Question: | Could this feeder be attached to a bungee |
Answer: | I have mine hanging on a Shepherds Hook and it works fine. If the bungee has a hook on the end I can't see why it wouldn't work. |
Question: | How to hang properly? I nailed to a tree and the little imp stole the whole thing |
Answer: | Hang it on a long branch, far down the branch towards the trunk of the tree where there are multiple smaller branches the squirrel would have to drag it over to get it off the branch. Once you have it in place it is easy to empty and fill. I like this feeder far better than the one I had before. |
Question: | Does this hanger have a bar across the swing part top that prevents the squirrel from removing the cob from the holder |
Answer: | No - since it won’t close properly, the squirrels can get the cobs out. Mine took the cob out 3 days in a row. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I odered and only recieved one pack of tw logs? i posted a comment and have heard nothing back |
Answer: | This happened to me too. Multiple times I used the amazon “chat” to say I only got half of what I paid for, where’s the rest of my order? They would apologize and say they were sending a replacement order and of course they never did. Amazon did nothing until I “chatted” with them and reminded them I am a PRIME member and pay over $100 to them every year. I said I never received my order and I want a full refund. They refunded me and I reordered I think a 4 or 6 log pack. The key is to order where the number of logs is in the title instead a “2 pack.” Because there are 2 logs per pack, the warehouse person will just grad 1 pack of 2 logs thinking that’s what you ordered. Hope this helps you. |
Question: | Is this for 6 packages of 2 logs or 3 packages of 2 logs |
Answer: | 3 packages of 2 logs = 6 logs |
