Answer:	The Humdinger bottle that fits the Best-1 bottom has the following thread dimensions: outside diameter of bottle thread is 1-1/16”. The thread pitch, center of 1 thread to center of next thread is 5/32”. I tried a 1L wine bottle and the outside thread diameter is to large. A Jack Daniels bottle will start but the thread pitch is wrong. It can be forced on but will more than likely break the threaded plastic. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I put them in the upper shelf and they are just fine. I run the dishwasher on a sanitize cycle (higher temperature) so both the glass bottles and plastic bottoms are sanitized. There is some color loss but I do not know if that is the dishwasher or just normal sun-fade. These are the best hummingbird feeders I have found. Very happy.

Answer:	I think the best way to clean the feeders is in a dishwasher. It gets rid of mold and bacteria so the nectar stays clear and healthy for several days. Put the bottles in the lower rack opening down. The disassembled feeding tray goes in the top rack. We have counted as many as 9 hummingbirds simultaneously trying to fill up on nectar at our feeder.

Answer:	No. They've never leaked. I have loads of hummingbirds and these are my favorite feeders. They come apart for cleaning and are very practical. I've ditched the leaky, blown glass feeders. Answer:	If you change the food every 3-5 days, maximum, you shouldn't have mold on it. But, to be safe, I wash my hummingbird feeders with a bleach and water spray; then, i rinse them thoroughly and change feeders every 3-5 days. Too long and they will mold and make the little guys sick. If it molds inside the glass, take a bottle brush and scrub off using bleach and water. Same with the rest of the feeder. Bleach will kill the mold.

Answer:	I don't buy 2 liter pop bottles so I can only guess it would. I originally purchased the complete feeder. This last purchase was just to replace my old bottoms.

Answer:	The wasps cannot eat from these feders. They will come to investigate the sweet food but generally leave when they find out they cannot eat from them. You must keep the flat part where the birds eat from free from spilled nectar because that will draw wasps to clean it up.

Answer:	I recommend giving your feeder a good wash and rinse before filling. Also getting a small funnel to fill up the bottle with helps to keep the nectar from spilling anywhere on the outside. I've had this feeder for a few years now and I love it. One other recommendation I have is to get some small bottle brushes to clean out the feeder holes every once in a while, as they can start to get a bit moldy if you don't get in there thoroughly.

Answer:	If I tip it about 30-40 degrees, it does drip a little. However, I have never seen it sway and tip that much in even a heavy wind. I have never had this feeder leak or be messy. It is one of my favorites.

Warm weather I do this every 3 or 4 days. Once with another hummingbird feeder I had ant issues but it had a holder that was staked into a flower pot...never used it again.

Answer:	The glass is dishwasher safe,I'm not sure about the bottom. I however would not use the dishwasher to clean it due to residue from the chemicals to clean and spot free being left behind and they might be toxic to the humming birds. I compared it to one of my mason jars and the mouth is a bit smaller. You would also not be able to hang a regular mason jar. This is an awesome feeder if you have a ton of humming birds and it is real easy to clean with hot water. It's also a perfect size if you make your own humming bird food. Answer:	Maybe if it was over 100 and in direct sunlight. We live in an area where it reaches 100 plus throughout the summer. We hang the feeders in the shade and its fine. The big problem with these feeders is the "powder coating" on the metal peels off pretty quickly. They would be soo much better if they had an all plastic base or quality powder coating.

Answer:	The glass is colored with a weather-resistant paint.
Question:	I received this as a gift. Concerned it's not red, as hear they're attracted to red. Do you get birds with this color
Answer:	Hummingbirds are attracted to red the most but bright pinks and oranges work fine as well. They're smart enough to realize when a flower is a flower.
Question:	Is the metal top going to rust (on top or inside) like it did on my last perky pet hummingbird feeder
Answer:	To anyone with interests to observe, feed and to protect hummingbirds, this product has major issues. Yes, it begins to rust around the two month mark from initial use. And this feeder leaks from the rubber flowers. With time the rubber flowers are turning black from moderate mold build up. Once stained with mold, it's more difficult to clean thoroughly without scrubbing the inside of the 5 feeding ports with bleach. Until Perky-Pet redesigns this feeder by addressing these three problems, I'd suggest you purchase the newer hummingbird feeders with plastic bottoms. I've replaced this feeder with the Amauras Hummingbird Feeder.
Question:	If you fill from the top what prevents the liquid from coming out of the flower ports while filling? The vacuum only exists when the top if sealed
Answer:	Excellent question! Once the nectar is poured into the bottle, it makes its way through a very small hole that will allow the base to fill up. Inside the base is a foam float that will rise up as the nectar fills. Once the base is full, the float closes off the hole, preventing the nectar from overfilling the base and pouring out.

Answer:	The glass itself is not red. The coating is applied on the outside. Mine is peeling off.

Answer:	Yes.... we have made a hanger and placed the base on a 2 liter bottle when we are planning to be gone for several hours. Will also work with a 32 oz vinegar bottle.

Question:	Do the replacement bottoms have the smaller holes to keep out the bees
Answer:	The smaller holes are definitely a deterent, but will not keep all types of bees out completely. We have opted not to have bee guards because of the possibility of getting the hummingbird's feet tangled in them.
